Breathe, Relax, Breathe, Pray

Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. Ephesians 6:11

Our world is in chaos. A president gets elected Who is not a politician and opposition increases to destroy him. People who stand for the truth have their character shredded. Free speech other than Christian free speech is welcome Christians being called hateful. Oh my but Satan is doing a job isn’t he?  Nice people post ugly hateful things on Social media then still claim to love Jesus. What are we becoming my friend? 

We are not to be in allegiance to a skin color, political party, television station, newspaper, but are to be in allegiance to the Red, white and blue if you live here in these United States and more importantly to our savior and Lord Jesus Christ. He isn’t sitting around screaming, saying mean things, and worried about the future. He is the future.

Satan continues to lie and deceive many people. If you catch yourself getting angry or border-lining on posting ugly comments on social media step back, go get your Bible and pray. 

PRAYER: Freedom is indeed not free. We have come close a few times in being tricked into losing our freedoms. Open the eyes of every man and woman regardless of political persuasion to get on their knees and pray. I pray for those who do not love you Lord and who need you in their life to be witnessed to by someone who crosses their path. I thank you for the godly people surrounding our President with prayer daily. Help us to love and not hate. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Banging People Over The Head With Bible..Not A Great Idea

"What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs--beautiful on the outside but filled on the inside with dead people's bones and all sorts of impurity. Matthew 23:27

For people who are not frequent church goers many may have the idea of Christians being ‘religious’ or ‘Bible thumpers’ or worst yet ‘banging people over the head with their Bibles’. Hopefully no one reading this fits in to any of these three categories. To win people to the Lord it does not take screaming at them or condemning them but instead kindness. After all Jesus was kind wasn’t he?

The woman caught in adultery was told to go and sin no more. Zacheus the tax collector had Jesus eat a meal at his house. The thieves hanging on the two crosses next to Him were forgiven. No hatred, anger, berating, acting self righteous but a show of kindness and mercy. 

When you act like you are perfect or better than someone obviously you are not. Feeling smug and sinless is not a good way to be. But how many people do you know who are won to Christ by being condemned or screamed at? Not too many I would suppose. Go and let your everyday journey be a witness to God’s love and be ready to share if someone asks you about the hope you have inside of you. 

PRAYER: Your steadfast love never ceases. I pray for the ability to share your love with kindness and grace should anyone approach me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Where Is The Manger?

And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death- even death on a cross! Philippians 2:8

Recently as I walked my town park track there amidst the Christmas decorations on the grassy area inside the track, I noted there was nothing to make it be called a ‘Christmas’ scene. Elves, reindeer, toy soldiers, helicopter, tractor, Santa, merry go round, candy canes, but no Christ child. Now this park had him last year but this year so far there is no manger.
What have we become as a country founded on Christian principles and the word when we ignore His existence? After all, whose birthday is it? It certainly is not Santa’s! Jesus is indeed the reason for this season but why do so many people forget him?

The Christ child was born into the world to save us from our sins. Why is it so many have ignored him or even played the church or religious game but then pay homage to Santa instead? I urge you as this season is upon us to make sure you do the right thing and envelope yourself and your family in the true meaning of this special day.

PRAYER: Father it is fun for children at Christmas but help parents to realize that teaching about the babe in the manger far overshadows anything else. I pray for those who do not understand and for those cities and towns that won’t acknowledge him on his birthday. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Tuning Into God

My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments. Colossians 2:2-4
Your  day has started. Rush, rush, rush already. Busy, busy, busy. When on earth can you possibly slow your pace to tune in to the still small voice yearning to spend time with you? I am speaking of God. 
So many things try to get your attention and in today’s wired society you must be creative to carve out time alone with God. This should be the first thing you WANT to do not an after thought. So set your alarm earlier. If a mom with small children, do it with them. On your lunch break at work, go find a place alone to pray and hear God’s voice through the Word. Make it happen. Desire it to happen. 
So much of what you may think is necessary is truly not. Off goes the news, off goes the morning show, off goes the Facebook updates. If you truly desire to do this then you can! 
PRAYER: It happened again. I rushed around and forgot to even say hi to you Lord or thank you. I am ashamed of myself. The enemy throws out excuses so I choose to sit down and be still with you. Convict me of this need. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Don't Worry...Be Happy!

I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Psalm 34:4
Such a catchy tune a few years back but do you apply its meaning to your everyday life? Is it possible to live a worry free life?

If you are honest you will say you have indeed worried. Probably everyone has but why? It doesn’t change things. As the character of a Russian prisoner in the movie ‘Bridge Of Spies’ said to his court appointed attorney played by actor Tom Hanks when asked if he was worried, he replied “would it help?” 

 When a fisherman casts his line into the water to catch fish he doesn’t jump in the water to grab it back as that would be self defeating and he would not catch fish. Similarly we are told in scripture to cast our cares on Him. Don’t go in and continually take them back. When you give your worries and concerns to God leave them then start focusing on uplifting things and let them go. 

PRAYER: Father God I don’t like to worry or fret but sometimes I find myself caving. Help me Lord to fully trust you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

What Is First Thing You Reach For In Morning?

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20

Mobile device? Computer?  News paper? Remote control? Basically the point I am trying to make is what do you make time for and what habits have you developed? At the end of these habits is there any time to spend with Jesus in His word? It is only by spending time that we develop God’s character.

It may require discipline for you to stop grabbing your mobile device and checking into Facebook daily. Sure there are Christian things on Facebook, I get that. My devotion is posted there after all. The thing is your heart is where your first love is. Do you just really want to barely get by as a Christian or do you want to be filled with power to face your battles daily?

Maybe today is the day you need to develop a new Plan A and insure you are making time for our Lord and Savior.  Don’t do it out of obligation then it rarely will affect you. If you know you are weak in this area talk to God and ask Him to help you reorder your earthly priorities. You will be glad you did!

PRAYER: Father I want to hunger and thirst for you but often times I barely even take a nibble. Shame on me. I want to have self control to spend time where it counts. Please help me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Keeping Your Eyes On Jesus, Regardless

Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2

When things are going good it is easy to keep your eyes on Jesus and be thankful but when stuff seemingly is going not so well where is your trust?  Fear can enter in a moments notice with no invitation. Are you going to allow it in is the question.

Keep your eyes on Jesus when:
You feel like complaining
You are ungrateful
You are angry
Hopelessness sets in
You feel selfish
Tragedy occurs
You feel let down
Fear knocks at your door
You are frustrated
If you are sad and lonely
During a pity party
If friends disappoint you
If you get bad news

Basically when you can turn your eyes totally upon Jesus it leaves little room for the devil to get in your peripheral vision. Totally immerse yourself in his love and his promises. Get rid of things in your life that cause you to lean towards not trusting Jesus.

PRAYER: I love you Lord but there have been occasional moments when fear starts to seep in and I know it is wrong. Help me to totally trust you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Ouch! That Hurts!

And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. Matthew 6:12-15

Say a friend or a family member has hurt you unintentionally or maybe intentionally with misspoken words some of which are very painful. This friend then wants reconciliation but you stubbornly resist. Or it could be the opposite case where you hurt someone unintentionally and they no longer care to hang out with you. Honestly is this what our savior died for?

Relationships can be precarious but there has to be the ‘bigger person’ to be able to bite the bullet so to speak and move on. Holding a grudge or having anger not only is not what God wants but it hurts both your witness and your health. Forgiveness is a tall order but isn’t that part of what being a Christian is all about? Some people you may even humanly despise but even holding this anger in your heart is still not right.

Today why not release your anger and your ‘right’ to be angry and even if certain individuals still snub you and treat you poorly love them anyway. Didn’t Jesus do that? Just saying!

PRAYER: Lord I hurt so bad when someone has wronged me and go through stages of anger but I know I need to truly let it go bad truly forgive. Further more I know you desire for me to pray for those who hurt me. Help me do just that. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

The Two J's

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness. Galatians 5:22

This is not a writing about a singing duo. The two ‘letter j’ words I am referring to in this writing are judging and jealously. Both stink, pure, plain and simple. I have struggled with both. If you want to have a victorious life in Christ you need to learn how to deal with both of these things that do not bring you closer to the kingdom.

You may feel cheated because someone has less financial struggles than you or a better house. Maybe you judge folks wrongly before you know their whole story say someone overweight or dressed poorly. It could be you are a jealous grandparent who wishes you had more time with your grandchild and compare yourself to other grandparent. You could be jealous of another's success. The list of topics for jealously and judging is endless. 

Try to not go to either area. Practice love and the fruits of the spirit listed in the verse for today. Jealously and judgment come from the pit of hell and they are designed to create division and hatred. Don’t even go there. Pray God to give you a transformed heart if you suffer with either. 

PRAYER: I know Lord when I have ever judged someone or had a twinge of jealousy it is totally not right and I hate doing so help me stop. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Outstanding Veterans

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13
Way FM Christian radio mentioned they had a veterans page on their website that you could give a shout out to an outstanding veteran you may know. As a Army veteran I am far from being a hero or outstanding but every single military veteran who took the oath of office to protect and defend their country from enemies both foreign and domestic and was discharged honorably,  is outstanding in my humble opinion. Training is not piece of cake nor is learning the discipline they instill in you. 
Veterans signed up to serve not knowing if they would be ever in harms way. Some served in peacetime like yours truly and I possess no fancy service medals,  but those called to combat and those guard members who were deployed and left civilian jobs to go answer the call deserve our utmost respect. Also those brave heroes who saved the lives of many with heroic actions. 
Jesus of course laid down his life for us as we are his friends. He took upon himself the sins of the world. Are you living for a greater purpose than yourself? Are you thankful for your freedom? Many laid down their lives or were severely injured in battle to protect what we believe in and stand for in America. Take time to visit a military cemetery if you live near one. Go to a Veterans Day parade if your community has one. We are indeed blessed. God bless America!

PRAYER: I thank you Lord for the gift of freedom. There have been moments our freedom was threatened. Thank you for the ability to worship freely and stand up for what we believe. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Don't Be A Dream Killer

NOTE: I forgot to post this devotion on 9 October so here it is!

Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4
Recently I rewatched the 2002 Hollywood movie 'The Rookie' the true story about Jim Morris whose dream to be a Major League Baseball player came true beyond the age most would consider it. Look it up on Netflix. The man's father had continually squashed his dream even growing up and he showed obvious talent as a pitcher. Another 2016 Hollywood movie 'Eddie The Eagle' also a true story about Eddie Edwards  is a similar dream this time about an unlikely prospect for an Olympic Ski Jumper who did in fact make the team representing Great Britain in 1988. Sports movies can teach lots about never quitting.

Do you have a dream? In high school I wanted to be a class officer and after two failed attempts and encouragement by my best friend I succeeded in getting elected treasurer two years in a row. Another was to publish a book which I did but not through agents and publishers clamoring for me, never the less I got it done. Your dream may be to go to Juilliard, work on Broadway, play Major League Baseball, running a marathon, invent a cure for paralysis. Whatever it is and it could be a simple dream, keep plugging and never give up. Keep hoping. I like the verse Ephesians 3:20 which says in a nutshell "God can do immeasurably more than we think or ask".

Keep trying, keep pursuing, keep training, keep writing, keep submitting those resumes, you get the idea. Don't give up in life on something you truly want to do. Think hopeful positive thoughts and you may in fact just get there!

PRAYER: It is so easy to quit and give up on your dreams. I give you the praise and glory for everything I accomplish in my life Lord. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Give, Give, and Give Some More

Give , and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." Luke 6:38
I don’t know about you,  but I love to give presents or do surprise things. It is just fun! Makes me smile and hopefully the recipient smiles to. I don’t do it to get noticed or get brownie points but it is part of my DNA and I can’t stop myself.

We are approaching the the two times of year givers come out of the woodwork because being kind and nice just feels like the thing to do at Christmas and Thanksgiving. Guess what? Those hurting and  needy people are still there January through October. I am not faulting anyone who only does this charity then because it is indeed needed and extremely worthy. Salvation Army, Angel Tree, Samaritan’s Purse are three that come to mind which make wise use of donations.

Look around and I am sure you can think of creative ways to be generous. Surprise generosity is even more fun. Make it a point to make someone’s day!

PRAYER:Sometimes Lord when I am in the dumps helping someone else cheers me up. Help me be aware of needs I can meet and people I can make smile not only in November and December but throughout the year. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Basic Training

These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Deuteronomy 6:6-7

I served in the Armed Forces for almost 6 years and did go through a ‘basic training’ period of approximately 90 days. The skills I  learned  helped equip me to survive if I ever was in harms' way on a battlefield. 

Life is a huge battlefield and a parents’ major  responsibility to not just raise children to grow up but to train them in godliness. The parents are more important than a Sunday school teacher, preacher, or priest in raising children to love Jesus. There needs to be ‘basic training’ for children.  

I once heard an acronym for Bible which was ‘Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth.’ That is a great way to remember how vital God’s word is and it is not a book to set around as a coffee table decoration. You may as well put it away if you don’t plan to study and read it.

So if you are a parent, grandparent, or want to be keep in mind that those little ones need to be taught early to love Jesus.

PRAYER: Basic training is vital to develop important survival skills. I choose to not only train myself but also have an impact on any young ones in my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Death And Life: The Best Is Yet To Come!

For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
 If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know!I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ,which is better by far; Philippians 1:21-23

A visit to a cemetery recently prompted me to think about this subject. Death is going to happen to everyone, no exceptions. No matter how much Hollywood movies make the idea of cryogenics and living forever seem great, really the best is yet to come. When a loved one dies no words can describe the pain, yet if this person accepted Christ as their savior here on Earth the event should be a celebration of their Home-going.

This place you call home is only a temporary stopover but for many it seems like this it is, live for now. Eat, drink, and be merry! It's okay to enjoy life, God does not want us all sour faced. But are you,  or have you,  made the decision of asking Christ to be your Lord and savior? Not join a church, not get baptized, but ask him into your heart and believe and live for Him. This issue causes so many divisions between denominations. Love Jesus, believe in Him, and ask Him to be your lord and savior now. 

PRAYER: Thanks so very much Lord for what awaits me when my temporary stay down here is completed. Prepare the hearts of those who never asked you into their hearts to do just that. Help me not act like a miniature Holy Spirit but to simply pray. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Root Causes Of Stress

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2

Many things can cause stress and often times you may be bringing it on yourself. Some things such as not trusting God can handle stuff. Maybe not spending enough time in prayer or the word. Perhaps not putting God first but letting self rule. Maybe sticking your nose in someone else's business. These are just a few thoughts I had on this.
What do you think? If you looked at your life what do you suppose needs to be changed to give you a stress free life? The verse for today is a good one to commit to memory.  Basically do not be like this world as you should be transformed to be like Christ. You can't attempt to do both. Live in the world but don't be of this world. Often people may be confronting issues in their own life and know there needs to be a change but the world and it's system is tugging in them too hard. 

Alas God is always here. He knows our struggles. If you are praying for someone close to you caught up in the lies of the world and getting sucked into deception keep on lifting them up in prayer. God is not finished yet. Have faith. Believe receive and doubt do without. 

PRAYER: Lord I know I need to talk to you in prayer and oftentimes I allow the tyranny of the urgent or junk in this world to squeeze you out. Shame on me. Forgive me know better. Draw my loved ones closer to you who have strayed away. Help me to rest in you and therefore be less stressed out. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Plays Well With Others

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Galatians 6:7

Back in the early 60's when my generation got their report cards in grade school, the good paper kind handwritten, there was a category about behavior and one of the lines had the teacher rate us in how we got along with our peers. As I recall I did pretty well in that category. I don't recall biting or punching anyone. Now fast forward to 2017 and how do you and I both get along with others?  Do you show kindness even when you don't feel like it? 

Give this some thought. In the world we do in fact reap what we sow. Treat people poorly and you naturally will have it returned to you. Do a good deed and one will be done for you. Smile another usually returns a smile. It is vital you learn how to treat people no matter what kind of business you may be in. No one wants to in the company of a mean person very long.

Today as you go about your day make it a point to treat others well and be the kind of person people want to around. Some folks will never like you or may even just shut you out of their life for no apparent reason. Trudge on my friend, pray for those who hurt you, and choose to begin each day with the purpose of spreading joy around you. 

PRAYER: I hope to be the kind of person who others want to be around. Let the radiance of the Holy Spirit shine on my face. I choose to pray for anyone who treats me poorly. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Music Heals

Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre. Psalm 33:2
Music is worship and worship is music. There is nothing better in my opinion than listening to the words of a powerful song of worship. To listen to the lyrics and even hear the story behind many of them that were written is truly amazing. Thank the Lord for talented song writers.

Music can be a healing therapy in many instances. It soothes the soul, uplifts the spirit and can give us a heart of gratitude and praise to our Heavenly Father. To me music 🎶 is one of the most important aspects of worship on Sunday. I can't wait to get to our church and lift my hands in praise to the Lord.

If you have had those days where you feel in a slump an uplifting sound of praise and worship can truly lift you up out of a pit. There are many I know who are Christians but for whatever reason do not listen to Christian radio. K-LOVE which has an App you can download is syndicated nationwide and locally here is WAYFM which also has an APP. Music and teaching found on Christian radio can really help set the tone for the day. If you have never tried it give it a try. Feed your mind with good things while you are driving. You will be surprised how it will encourage you.

PRAYER: Lord I love to sing your praises. Your creation sings your glory through birds and the wind. I thank you for talented people who write the songs of praise to you. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Birth Days Are Great!

Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.John 16:24

Today our family is in the waiting mode for the birth of our first grandbaby. I will not lie and say Satan has reared his ugly head and caused fear. As I write for others to not fear I too must trust God and know there will soon be a bundle from Heaven to love on. 

Are you struggling with doubt and fear you can't shake? In order to move closer to God you have to tell Satan to take a hike and take his stinking thinking junk with him. Tell him you refuse to be crippled by fear  so leave you alone. 

It is easy to worry but requires faith to trust. What do you choose. The worry simply accomplishes nothing so start praising God for wonderful things he will do and don't sink into a bottomless pit of despair.

PRAYER: Oh Father you are good and gracious and do mighty things. Thank you for the joy we have only in you when we completely stay in your footsteps. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Elegance And Luxury

But as it was written "What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love  him." 1 Corinthians 2:9
The advertisements on TV for elegant places such as Sandals Resorts or gorgeous 5 Star hotels are a mere dream for many. Oh to be treated like a five star guest!  The luxurious towels, bathrobe, fancy soaps, and many other amenities. 
Being a five star customer whether at a fancy resort, bed and breakfast, or a European Cruise may seem like only a dream. Many in the world would be happy with simply staying in a motel, period. The good news is for those who have asked Jesus into their hearts the best Five Star accommodations await you upon your death. The Heavenly Kingdom will be 100 Stars!
Those in this world who think Jesus and God are fairy tales will be sorely surprised upon taking their last breath. We should be doing all we can to share the good news with people. Even many in church don't really have a personal relationship with Him. Today is the day of salvation. You never know when Jesus might come back, and he will, so better be ready. 
PRAYER: Much confusion and legalism has been spread by some churches as to how one gets to Heaven. Lord I pray for the truth to be heard by millions in all countries and in churches in our country. I pray for false teachers to be silenced. I pray for the lost and those who persecute believers to come to a saving knowledge of you. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Don't Abandon Your Post

Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. 1 Corinthians 16:13
In the armed forces if you are on guard duty or some other form of staff duty you stay at your post and follow orders. Abandoning your post is not an option because the lives of many depend upon you fulfilling your 'guard' duties. 
Have you made a decision in your Christian walk to stand firm in the faith and not go with the crowd or whatever is popular is the thing to do? Sometimes deep down you may have a conviction that some movie you choose to watch is wrong or a book you are reading is putting wrong thoughts into you head. A student may be forced to read certain material in school and if they are in disagreement due to their Christian beliefs they too need to be courageous and keep at their 'post'.
Sometimes it is hard to go against popular culture but if you expect to stand strong in the teachings of the Bible you have a decision to make. Choose God or choose the world and it's way. Stand for the truth and stay where you are and protect those in your circle of influence. That may be a mom at home with children watching you. Don't leave your post! It is so important for the lives of others. 
PRAYER: I am so grateful to be able to know I do not have to cave into the world and it's ways. I choose to stand my ground and protect those around me. In Jesus' name. Amen.

The Big One!

For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! Philippians 1:21-22

I was sitting waiting for a friend on a bench in the warm sunshine when two ladies walked by with gifts and balloons that said 40. I said "Oh the big one huh?!" spoken by a lady who has had 5 'Big ones' in my life. When exactly do we 'arrive' to that really big one? That special milestone celebration.  

Every year is a gift from God. Some people are 'taken away' by death in what humans deem as too early. Too early for earthly milestones and dreams' perhaps but not too early to be used in God's perfect plan. It is easy to treat our earthly home like this is it but this is by far not IT. Living for the here and now and its' pleasures is not what brings true joy. 

Be thankful for each year you take a breath on your birthday but don't simply live for today. No one knows the day or the hour Christ will return but He will come back. What will you be able to say you have done for the kingdom? Are you sharing Jesus' love with those you meet either in words, deeds, or simple smiles? Remember the really BIG ONE is when you arrive in the Heavenly Kingdom some day. In the meantime do what you can to spread His love to others. 

PRAYER: Birthdays are fun. The first day of birth is extra special for parents, grandparents, and friends.  Help me Lord as I seek to serve you between my Earthly birthdays and rejoice in each day of life. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Mischief, Evil, Or Love?

            Do not let my heart be drawn to what is evil so that I take part in wicked deeds along with those who are evildoers; do not let me eat their delicacies. Psalm 141:4

To celebrate or to not celebrate Halloween is a big deal in the Christian community. Many churches offer alternative celebrations known as 'Trunk or Treat' or 'Harvest Parties'. This time of year Hollywood inundates us with horror films and many Christians go feed their minds on them not giving it a second thought. There are even freestanding Halloween stores. Don't forget haunted houses.  Scaring people seems to be big business. 

           But what do you as a Christian do? Do you go along with the crowd and think it is innocent? Some use it as an opportunity to reach out. Those who like fortune telling    and ghostly spirits like this day. It traditionally is celebrated as a day of evil. Some laugh at this notion thinking it is purely innocent. Ponder and pray about it especially if you are raising little children.

There is evil and there is good. At this time of year it is a touchy subject with many in the faith community. I myself was born on Halloween so it is my birthday party. True it is fun to dress up and be someone else but when we start dressing children as devils, ghouls, zombies, and witches is that the right thing to teach them how to grow in Christ? Our children were in a Christian pre school once who gave the children plastic skull rings on this day. Well I have given you something to think about. 

            PRAYER: May God grant each reader peace in what he or she chooses to do on this day. I choose to not celebrate or glorify evil. I pray Lord for children to be   protected on this day of mischief. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Helping Others....Are You?

The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,Because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor;He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind,To set at liberty those who are oppressed;  Luke 4:18(NKJV)
Each of you reading this today has a circle of people in your life whether it is family, volunteer position you are in, your gym, small children at home, co workers, customers in coffee shop you are in daily, and neighbors and you may have some work to do to help some of these people and encourage them on a daily basis. It could be a comment you see posted on social media and are able to reach out and help. 
God uses each of us to spread love. Are you doing your part daily to do something for others? Maybe you could simply pay for the person behind you at the fast food restaurant you frequent. Perhaps send an unexpected card or gift. Call a friend you have not spoken to in a while. You get the idea. Don't just think of yourself because the world has needs and each of you can help. 
Your assignment today is to be purposeful in reaching out to spread God's love in a hurting world. I guarantee the side effect will be you will feel joy. 
PRAYER: Lord Jesus I know there are many who are hurting and I know I can help. Direct my steps and put on my heart where and who you want me to serve. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Are You Chilly?

Because of the increase of wickedness the love of many will grow cold. Matthew 24:12
Fall is finally upon us, I think, here in the South. Cooler temperatures, pretty leaves, crisp air. It by far is my favorite season of the year.  The chilly air brings out beautiful garments hidden away in the closets for months. The chilliness of the air is not what I am referring to by my title. But are you feeling spiritually cold? Hopefully not since you are reading this devotional in attempts to get closer to God.
Many think we are in the end times. Wickedness has increased. Knowledge has increased due to computer technology but sometimes not knowledge for the good. When the populace gains more knowledge they assume there is no need for God. Control is desired. Such as in Communist North Korea where a dictator rules everything. The people there are in bondage. Many in the United States are in bondage to wrong thinking and unless they stay in the word of God Satan can captivate and deceive them.
If you know people in your circle of influence who have seemingly become cold spiritually continue to lift them up in prayer. God hears your heart. His story is not finished with the lost yet. Don't be dreading a takeover by evil forces but instead be rejoicing in all the revival fires being stirred up in not only this country but in the world. Turn off your nightly news and pray.
PRAYER: Oh Lord you are way bigger than any lies and deceit the enemy spreads. I pray for people who are in a spiritual stupor or sorts that you would awaken them to the truth and to the tricks of the enemy and help them to run to you with arms wide open. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Ministry Does NOT Replace God In Your Life

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15
If you are a prayer group leader, preacher, Bible study leader, choir director, or any type of ministry leader it can be tempting to think the preparation time for your ministry is your quiet time. I know it is tempting and I have struggled with it but your quiet time with the Lord should be for you to grow not to plan whatever ministry you are doing. Bible teacher Joyce Meyer even discussed this on her show one day. Even watching a minister on TV should not substitute for your time alone with God.
Each person has to decide how they are going to prioritize their day as to not let God be an after thought or no thought at all. It is so easy to think, "well I go to church on Sunday or listen to Christian radio" but you need to do more. Not in a legalistic sort of way but as a desire of your heart. I admit to the challenge of making this happen. First try leaving the television OFF in the morning. When you turn on a morning show you squeeze out God for sure and your mind becomes programmed with what you are hearing.
Start today and decide what it truly important. Do you really need to program your mind each day with the morning news? Is that going to lift your spirit? Probably not. If you work full time you need to be creative in this as well as if you are a stay home mom with little ones. Maybe include them. Get Up, get going, and get with God.
PRAYER: Thank you for each day you give me Lord. Forgive me when I let other things become more important than you. I am working to get my schedule in line so you truly come first. In Jesus name. Amen.

Fix Yourself First

"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? Luke 6:41

It is so easy to pass judgment on others. I hate when I catch myself doing it. We are not to stand in judgment over anyone. God did not assign us that duty. 

You look at someone and expect you know their 'story' yet you do not. You may look down upon someone who has body piercing or tattoos. Maybe you judge a person's lifestyle choices. Maybe it is how they dress or wear their makeup. It is not our job to 'fix' or stand in judgement of anyone. If you struggle with doing this ask God to deliver you from it. Would you want people doing it to you? 

Stop and say a pray and ask God to help you love the unlovely and not utter or think any bad thoughts about anyone. The more you do it the easier it will become. 

PRAYER: I have no right to judge my fellow man. When I point a finger another finger is pointing back at me. I will resist this urge to be ugly and do this as it sure is not a good example for someone who loves the Lord. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Blank Slate

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

When a baby is born it is like a blank slate or for those of you born beyond 1985, a blank dry erase board. Nothing is written on it yet and the story is yet to be told. Many are the hopes and dreams of new parents and the responsibility is great. Oh the joy a newborn brings into the family.

It is the parents responsibility to teach this child and hopefully raise he or she for the Lord. There is no greater job than being a parent. Of all the jobs I had, even though challenging, it was my favorite and most rewarding raising our two sons. In Deuteronomy 11:18-19 it says "
Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your forehead. 
Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."

The world will throw all sorts of propaganda and false teaching at the child as he or she grows and matures and it is the parents job to counteract false teaching and be aware of it.  A parents  job is immense and even later in life if the child turns his back on what you taught them all hope is not lost. God is working. Continue persevering in prayer. 

PRAYER: Oh Lord, children are a blessing. Help me adjust to the different stages of being a parent to include releasing grown children so as not to cause problems. I thank you for the gift of new life and pray for a great beginning for all babies. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Oh Come On!

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:21
When the populace loses its' senses and does things absurd and extreme the comment "oh come on!" is usually what is uttered by onlookers.  Doing something so politically correct it is foolishness is what warrants this comment. Such as the  banning of the classic film 'Gone With The Wind' by a Memphis theater a couple months ago when the country was in the midst of their second 'civil war' of sorts.

Your mind has to be controlled by the spirit so you don't fulfill the lusts and desires of the flesh. Ask yourself how Jesus would respond or react to something and you usually have the answer right there. Spiritual warfare is in full swing but you can not and should not,  be frightened by rumors of uprising but instead stay on your knees and pray. Love is the ultimate answer.

There is a battle of good versus evil, God versus the devil. Your mind must be saturated with truth, not NPR, CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC and all the rest. The truth and peace and love are found in the Holy Bible. Fear is perpetuated by the news media mainly for ratings and not everything is unbiased, most is not. So your choice is to stay peaceful or to stay angry and agitated. Should be a simple choice.

PRAYER: Lord I pray for those in our world who are trying non stop to stir up hatred and cause dissension and riots. Lord come into their hearts with truth and calm their spirits. Do not allow Satan to infiltrate and confuse. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Negativity Causes Hatred

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10
 Staying positive in a world dominated by bad news, hatred, division, crime, and propaganda is a challenge. The thing I tell everyone is turn off any news having to do with politics and simply pray. God is the one in charge anyway.

Our media wants you to be agitated and stirred up so to counteract this it is necessary to intentionally stay away from newspapers and talk shows and focus on God. Tune into Christian radio such as the syndicated KLove.  Behind all this hatred and division is Satan, not an individual. Demonic spirits can take root in a person's life who consistently hates others.

Don't allow this to happen. God is love, period! Satan is the father of lies, evil, and deception. Be positive. Be encouraging. Be hopeful. And yes, pray!

PRAYER: I am thankful for the truth in your word that sets me free. I choose to pray for enemies trying to do evil. Turn evil hearts to you oh Lord. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Joyful, Just Be It!

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things. Philippians 4:8

I had one of those days recently where I just felt down for no particular reason but it being self induced, or in other words thinking about stuff that drug me into a pit. You too may have experienced gloomy days where there is really no reason for it other than you were thinking about things you should not have been. You worry perhaps about a situation or compare yourself to someone or whatever else it might be and presto! You are in a slump. 

Thankfully some sweet friends saw my whining on Facebook and quickly rescued me with their encouraging spirits. You too need to be ready to help be an encourager because all of us have those less than stellar days. These are days maybe it is necessary to do some serious spiritual warfare. The enemy does not like us to be cheerful, joyful, and loving God. He will do all in his power to drag you down so be on your guard. 

Might I suggest each day to wake up thankful for all those things you have in your life. Turn on some good praise and worship music and get your spirit lifted up. Keep the news off or talk shows as they normally are less than redeeming. Make it a daily habit to wake up and says "thanks Lord for having another day to serve you!" See if you don't feel better. 

PRAYER: When I am down you lift me up Lord. I refuse to allow Satan's lies to disable my peace and joy. Help me look for others to encourage as well. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Preaching To The Choir

For  this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the LORD and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God. Colossians 1:9-10

Many who read devotions already know it is important to make Jesus first in your life and you take positive steps to do that by not only reading devotions each day but by hiding God's word in your heart daily. You may live under the same roof with those who go to church with you but just don't do much beyond Sunday. It is the Holy Spirit's job to convict a person of their need to grow in Christ. As much as you may want to say something, don't. Also church and religion don't save anyone. 

Love is what wins people to Christ not showing how perfectly together we may be(HA) or beating someone over the head with the Bible. The Holy Spirit is who brings conviction to hearts that are cold, lost, or straying from where they once were. Your job and mine, quite simply, is to keep praying. Period. 

Make sure each and every day you set an example for those soured to what they call 'religion' and be a light in the darkness around you. Keep praying for loved ones who seem to be lethargic about anything that smacks of Jesus. Don't lecture but love. Let God do the rest. 

PRAYER:There was a time I know Lord that I did not see my need beyond one hour a week but now I know that this world is not my home and I want to live for you and  help lead others to you through words and actions. Use me to do that Lord. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Broken People

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18

"Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall. All the kings horses and all the kings men couldn't put Humpty together again." Of course that is the well known children's poem many recited to their children or perhaps had read to you. Brokenness is real and it hurts. I am not talking about broken bones, broken teeth and other physical body parts, but a broken spirit. You can not put your finger on it but you hurt. 

Brokenness can be as a result of trauma in your life. You feel hopeless, despairing, at the end of your rope so to speak. It is at these times many run from God when in fact that is when you need him the most. Someone may have hurt you but God will never hurt you. He can lift you up out of your pit and put you on solid ground again. He can bring redemption and restoration. 

Continue to seek God even when you are hurting. Stay in scripture. Start reading the book of Psalms. Keep seeking God. 

PRAYER: There have been times when I hurt bad Lord and some of it my own fault but other times it is other factors. Lord I know I need you especially in these times. Also once I am lifted out help me seek out others I can help. In Jesus' name. Amen.

The Huddle

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Ah but the football season is upon us here in the United States. Many love it but others such as myself could care less. It is a seasonal sport and can teach valuable life lessons for team members. In football there is 'the huddle' where players receive advice, encouragement, and game plays and maybe at times prayers. 
In your life who is in your 'huddle'? Who do you go to for encouragement, advice, and prayers. There is a term called the 'holy huddle' which refers to when a believer doesn't get outside their Christian circle to meet others needs but in this case I am referring to who do you seek out to help you grow in Christ? Share your burdens? 
If it is the 'holy huddle' just make sure you use that advice and prayer to build into the lives of those not in any 'holy huddle' who may need to be lifted up on a regular basis. Build into the lives of others and seek ways to bless another's life.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus I thank you for the 'huddle' I have in my life that encourages me and loves me but help me to remember to leave that huddle to encourage others as well. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Many situations in life can cause you to want to roll up in the fetal position and just go to sleep. Satan plays with our minds, thoughts and emotions and can wreak havoc in a life God wants to use for his glory. We have all probably been there feeling discouraged, self pity moving in, and just feel worn out waiting. Why me Lord or why them? 
When you are at the end of your rope, keep hanging on.  Don't let go because God has still got you. "But then where is He Becky, why don't I feel better?" You have to be intentional about doing spiritual warfare. Often many churches don't even mention this.  You are in a war against demonic spirits trying to drag you down. Angels are real and so are demons. 
Make sure you don't forget to spend time with God each day. Would you forget to put on deodorant or brush your teeth? No you wouldn't so why is it so easy to go out of the house and forget your sword, the word of God to protect you. Be intentional about getting refreshed and ready to meet the day. Spend time in prayer and read some scripture before you step out onto the battlefield. 
PRAYER: Lord I need you every day. Forgive me for the times I have allowed the enemy to make me day dream wrong thoughts. I know the answer is always found in the Bible. In Jesus' name. Amen.

God's Agenda......Love!

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 1 Corinthians 13:4-5

What is love and do you emulate it on a regular basis with everyone who comes across your path? Something to ponder. 

Do you love the person who stole the parking space you were waiting for? How about the disrespectful child or spouse? Maybe a friend who back stabbed you? The rude store clerk? The driver who cut you off on the highway? Love indeed is not just a feeling but it is a choice you make. So many couples may divorce because they don't 'feel' in love. You decide in your heart you will love no matter what and just do it! 

Who do you need to show love towards today? Maybe pick someone hard to love and be kind to them. Don't ever repay evil or rudeness but go the extra mile to be gracious, sweet, and kind. The more you do it the easier and more a part of your life it will become.

PRAYER: Love indeed does make the world go round. It is easy to hate but I know your word says to love my enemies and to pray for them. Help me learn how to love unconditionally. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Your Mess, Your Message

You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. Genesis 50:20

You may have heard someone say that at times the 'mess' in your life can turn into your 'message' and that is so true. God often uses bad junk that has happened to develop your testimony of sorts.

Many when they have been at their lowest most hopeless point have found God and started helping others who went through similar stuff. If you aren't careful though Satan will come in with his lies and say "Look what God allowed to happen. How could you possible live for Him now?"

When the going gets tough the tough get going is something we need to take to heart. The recent horrific events in Las Vegas have already had goodness come from them. Your wilted rose can indeed bloom again and you can live a full life helping others. Don't run the opposite way in your trial.

PRAYER: You are good all the time and all the time you are good. Thanks for redeeming the days I have had that were bad bumps in my life. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Sitting In The Big Chair?

Whoever exalts himself will be humbled and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. Matthew 23:12

Often times when a person has humanly arrived at the pinnacle of Earthly success they may have a special parking place, their name on a door, a private office, a brass plaque with their name and title engraved upon it, or a very large cushy leather chair.  Now those are things that make someone feel they are special. But aren't we all special and valuable to God?

If you do happen to rise to stardom, fame, or up the corporate ladder,  make sure you realize it is not all about you. Be sure to give God the praise and glory and also to not ever think you are above people or better than them. Truly humble individuals are a joy to be around but those who are puffed up and egotistical don't care about others. Be willing to lower yourself and serve. Don't feel as if everyone needs to serve you. Don't allow fame and fortune to make you feel self important.

Humble people are a joy to be around. Those who truly are able to forget themselves and concentrate on God and others before themselves.

PRAYER: Lord it is through you that all good fame and fortune come. I thank you for gifts and talents you have bestowed upon me in my life and forgive me if I was ever puffed up. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Shaken And Stirred

I keep my eyes always on the LORD. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.Psalm 16:8
Do you ever feel shaken by things going on around you or stirred up inside that you just feel overwhelmed? There are sure many things in our world to cause us to be shaken up and unsettled. You have to know that the God of the universe does not want you to be shaken but He wants you to trust that everything is going to be okay. 

In the United States today if you watched the news non stop you certainly would feel shaken and stirred up inside. You cannot continually allow media to dictate your feelings. It is necessary to start spending more time in prayer to obtain peace and when you have the urge to watch the nightly news go instead and read the Psalms. 

If you develop a habit of turning off sources of things that bring you fear and anxiety soon you may be able to be grounded in Christ and live an unshakeable life. 

PRAYER:I choose this day and every day to not let the world news cause me to be upset but to turn it off and tune into You. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Hey Where's My Order?

Do everything without grumbling or arguing. Philippians 2:14
I am not sure about other nations,  but here in America we have it pretty good to include most 'poor' people compared to many other nations,  but yet some of us are not satisfied and grumble and complain. 

I sure am grateful to my parents and grandparents generations. They had to continue to build a great nation and fight the wars to keep us free. Many flock here for the American Dream. Are you grateful for what you have? Have you taken the time to even think about the good stuff? True some may have had harsh rough lives but God saw you through, right? When your fast food isn't fast enough do you get upset? 

Maybe it is time to start the one thing a day blessing or thanksgiving jar. Surely you can think of something good each day and write it down on paper and put it in this jar. I did this for three years in a row. It is a wonderful discipline to help change your attitude. So today are you able to be grateful instead of demanding? 

PRAYER: Lord I am sorry for any time I have not been grateful for just what blessings are in my life. Wonderful parents who raised me. And education. Good healthcare. Family who loves me. Friends. Thank you Jesus. In Jesus' name. Amen.

How Is Your Walk?

So that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. Colossians 1:10

You're a good person. You believe in God. You have not killed anyone. You don't gossip. You give money to charity. You take care of your parents. But how is your 'walk'? I am referring to your spiritual walk. 

Often times people who aren't frequenting church may refer to those who do and go beyond that and are a tad fanatical as religious. First I hate the word religion and I think God does too. As for being a fanatic, guilty as charged. There is more to saying you are a Christian than just saying it or even just going to church. Some hate church for whatever reason and say their church is nature. Many go but are only different that day and nothing changes the rest of the week. 

Your life should emulate Christ. You should want to be in Fellowship and teach your children the same. Find a dynamic church that preaches the word. Find a church with a good children's ministry. Sometimes people are more comfortable in non denominational churches and for those of you who have been in a denomination for awhile go check one out. Above all 'walk' in all areas of your life to please God. Spend time daily in prayer and read your Bible. Start in the Psalms if you have no clue. Walking for the Lord is a daily discipline you should seek to do. 

PRAYER: I want to walk worthy and to please you Lord. I want to be a witness for you wherever I go each day. Help me get rid of things in my life that make me walk away and not to you. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Side Effects

"The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, For the Lord holds them by the hand.” Psalm 37:23-24

In our worrisome world often you may be a person who is concerned about the side effects from either a certain prescription or perhaps an inoculation you are required to take. My goodness,  some of the drug commercials on TV are enough to send you running for the hills with all the things that 'could happen' listed. 

I am going to talk about a different sort of 'side effect' that being the life of peace and joy when you choose to give up control of managing your own life. How do you manage your own life you might say? Maybe by putting God in a box and sort of trying to orchestrate outcomes on your own. Perhaps it is time to let God have complete control, cause He does anyway. Your side effect which awaits you once you place complete trust in Him will be peace.

Are you able to give this method a try? Total trust in the savior even when the situation ahead of you looks bleak. God is not finished yet so settle back and pray and believe. 

PRAYER: Sometimes Lord it looks like things I am praying for are never going to change and it can be very discouraging. I know time is nothing to you and you indeed are doing amazing things I don't even know about yet, and I thank you. In Jesus' name. Amen.

What's In A Name?

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the
 name that is above every name. Philippians 2:9

Throughout the generations and as time passes, there has been a trendy way to name a newborn, a hippy laid back name, a family name, a classical name, a celebrity name, or a Biblical name. My husband and I chose the latter. Names carry meaning and they go with you the rest of your life so parents of newborns have a huge responsibility deciding on that all important 'title' of sorts. My son and his wife expect their first born, a daughter, in less than a month. I am excited of course to find out on her 'birthday' what name she will be given. 

Jesus is the all important name because he is the name above all other names! At his name healing comes and miracles happen. There is power in the name of Jesus. To overcome, to cast out demons, to break every chain you are in bondage too. 

The little baby in a manger indeed has a powerful name. Have you called out his name and asked him to be Lord of your life? Is his name the most important thing in your life? 

PRAYER: Lord I call on your name and I am saved from my enemies. I praise your name. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Hurt Feelings, Self Pity, and Loneliness

 A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. Proverbs 17:22

I am sure I am not the only one reading who has dealt with the three emotions above in my title. When people hurt your feelings you want to just run away sometimes. You start feeling an urge towards self pity and finally advance into loneliness. Often times no one knows how you are even feeling. It is necessary to try to master the art of getting beyond these things. But how? 

First you need to separate yourself from your emotions because they can not be trusted. They are wishy washy and come and go. Next the key word in self pity is 'self' which we are told to "die to daily". Self means we are thinking of our own self and not other people. As Bible teacher Joyce Meyer says "Pity parties are pitiful" and indeed they are. 

When you feel down, left out, hurt, trampled upon try to think of a way you could be a blessing to someone else.  When you do this you won't be crying over your own problems. Give it a try. By blessing others sometimes you bless yourself. 

PRAYER: Lord Jesus forgive me for times when I allow my emotions to get the best of me and saturate myself in self pity. When I do this I can not be close to you. I will not allow Satan to do this to me. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Forgiveness...It Is A Life Changer!

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:32
Have you ever uttered the statement "I can not forgive them for what they did to me?" When you did, do you think it pleased God? You may say "I can forgive but I certainly won't forget" then I say to you, is that true forgiveness? 
I recently saw the new Pureflix film 'A Question Of Faith' which deals with forgiveness, teen texting while driving, death, racial prejudice, and has a marvelous impactful tremendously joyful ending urging people to stop texting while driving and to become organ donors.  Carrying grudges against people because of unsettled issues only glorifies our enemy Satan. He loves to cause division so don't let him!
Whatever it is you are dealing with, get on your knees and pray for God to take away the stony heart inside of you that is causing anger which sometimes you may feel is justified. God's plan is to forgive, period! What if God said "Well they sure do deserve Hell but I will forgive them but I am not going to forget." Sounds pretty silly doesn't it? My friend, no matter what it is first stop dwelling on it, talking about it, then truly surrender your hurt,anger,and pain and ask the Lord to help you love that person as only He can. 
PRAYER: Lord I want to be able to let go of the pain of those in my life who have been mean to me or hurt me or a family member. I choose this day to stay in your word and to pray daily for any enemies I may have. In Jesus' name. Amen.
