No More Tears

For  to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; Philippians 1:21-23
Today I write this devotion with a heavy heart at the recent death of a special lady and friend. She is now out of pain and in her Heavenly home. When someone dies and knows Christ it is sad but it is more of a celebration Home going. For those left behind to grieve though there remains a sadness and a deep hole that will take a while to heal.

Death will come to everyone and at different ages. This particular friend lost her son in a tragic accident when he was only 18. The pain is real. The hurt is there. The things you don't want to say to a grieving person seem somehow to still pop out of your mouth things like "oh she is in a better place" and stuff like that. Best to be silent and just listen. Be there for comfort and above all don't be afraid to talk about good memories of the deceased. They did exist so don't bury their memory too.

God has a plan for each of us on this earth. Why are there those who suffer with debilitating diseases and why is not everyone healed? I do not know how to answer that. I just know if you can still shine through your hurt and pain you can be a good example for others who may need comfort. Don't turn your back on God. Run to Him as He does care. After all He gave His only son Jesus in a terrible death on the cross.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus help me to say the right things to those who are suffering the loss of a friend or family member. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Some Indeed Did Give All

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1

In America we have it so very good. And for that we don't have elected officials to thanks but those brave soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines who fought and died in battles, wars, and conflicts to help secure the freedoms we enjoy. I always have a hard time wondering why merchants on this sacred holiday have mattress sales, furniture sales, and car sales. Seems disrespectful to the deceased in a way.

Memorial Day now is celebrated on the last Monday of May while it used to be 30 May. As a teenager in the marching band at my high school this used to be a special solemn day where we would march to the local cemetery to honor those who gave their lives for this country. It is important for parents to not get so busy and complacent that they forget to instill the sense of patriotism in today's children. It is not a day to just go swimming and start summer. It is much more.

Our country has to be vigilant to maintain and protect this freedom. Evil and tyranny is out there and even within our own country trying to dominate and control. Socialism and communism is not what these men and women who died had in mind. Freedom goes hand in hand with the love of Jesus too. Communism exists in a godless society. When you see a living war veteran usually displayed on their head with the cap that says Vietnam, WWII etc, be sure to shake their hand. Maybe buy their lunch. Enjoy your Memorial Day and what it means.

PRAYER: Lord I know there are many parts of the world in bondage to dictators. I know Satan would love that to happen to the US and has minions working for him to try to do it. Help us be vigilant in staying free and one nation under God. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Live Out The Gospel

If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:3

Boy was I ashamed of myself. I had been writing and had been a tad upset at someone annoying me while I was in the process of writing. So I get up a few minutes later to leave and see a young man wearing a tee shirt that had today's title. I sat back down and pondered what that shirt meant for a while. Was I living out the gospel when I secretly had this disgruntled attitude about someone? And a Christian devotion writer at that! Wake up call.

How about you? Do you claim to know Jesus and live for Him yet don't live out the gospel in places you frequent such as work, home, the coffee shop, restaurants, movie theater to name but a few. Being nice and kind should be part of a believers life. Was Jesus' mean? Did he say "I don't have time for your nonsense now" or "look at this junky house"! No indeed Jesus is perfect and we are to try to emulate Him as best we can.

All types of personalities exist. You are never to act like you are better than someone . Above all even when you don't feel like it try to smile and be kind. Keep smiling even when someone cuts you off on the highway. You will stay more peaceful as a result. Give it a try. Yes and you too can indeed 'live out the gospel'!

PRAYER: Forgive me Lord when I have not acted out my love for you. Forgive my impatience with others at times. Give me the strength to adapt in less than ideal situations. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Patience With Rude People

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice. Ephesians 4:31
Okay here is your test for today. You may know how to act and have manners but increasingly in this technological society even we slightly older people at times don't have proper manners. Parents, train your children there is a time and a place for cell phone usage and those little devices can be down right rude. As I found a cute little coffee shop to settle into to write one afternoon a man in the corner proceeded to make four phone calls each time speaking very loudly. It was very difficult to concentrate but yet here I am "Mrs Devotion Writer" trying to display patience, love, and understanding even when people should know to take their calls outside.

Whatever situation you find yourself in that tests your patience that is exactly what you are to do is to get that 'test' and pass it. To do this you need to stay clam, cool, and collected and realize no one is perfect, not  even you. To turn around and scowl would be downright ugly and unChristlike. I remember once my cell phone rang in church. I normally never carry it in church but that particular day it was not only in my purse but turned on! And it rang very loud during the sermon of all times. It was an accident but I sure got scowled at.

My friend,  there are many situations in life that will test us. Believers are supposed to be different and if we get all angry and grumpy then what good is that? It snuffs your spiritual light right out.

PRAYER: There are all kinds of people in the world and even in my own country many personalities exists. Help me be kind, understanding, and loving to everyone you put in my path because I may be the only person who loves Jesus they ever come in contact with. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Camouflaged?

  1. If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy angels." Mark 8:38

Do you ever try to hide the fact you love Jesus? Sort of want to blend in? You disguise yourself like the world so no one knows? What is there to be afraid of? Say you want to pray in a restaurant  but what will people think? The verse for today sort of suggests it should not matter. Are you like a hunter who wants to blend in with woods so you have a better chance at getting that prized deer?

You are not to be a secret service Christian sort of hiding in the shadows but you need to let that light shine. Not in a bragging self righteous way like you are better than people but so that your faith means something to you. I mean if you chime right along with those in the break room at work laughing at dirty jokes what difference is there. Maybe you gossip about others. How about speeding down the highway all the time with  that 'I Love Jesus' sticker on your car?

None of us is perfect. You have probably heard the phrase "Christians aren't perfect just forgiven" but don't do things on purpose if you know you are wrong. Be a light in a dark place and be able to help when needed.

PRAYER: Oh Lord I know sometimes when I am alone I may not be as bold for you as when in a 'Holy huddle'.  Help me never be ashamed. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6

What is troubling you? Things in life happen and at times it is hard to not be overwhelmed to the point you don't think you can function anymore. Satan is the master of keeping people down in the dumps, troubled, despairing, in anguish, and fearful. You have to decide you are not going to go there. No matter what is going on around you choose to look up.

Be the kind of person that can walk with a spring in your step just because you know how much Jesus loves you. Beat Satan at his game. When he attempts to get you rattled by throwing all sorts of things your way stand strong. Bad medical diagnosis? Sick child? Aging parents? Horrible job? Betrayal by a friend? Whatever it is don't allow things to rob you of your joy in Jesus.

Life here on Earth is so temporary although at times you may feel it is forever. Live as if each day is the day Jesus may call you home. Talk to him as you would a friend. Cry out to him. Try to lay your burdens down and let Him carry them. Tall order but He can set you free.

PRAYER: At times Father I feel like I just can't go on. I know the enemy loves this and I don't want to let him be happy over my pain. Give me the strength to press on no matter what is going on around me. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Encore:Love Means Just That

Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness.  Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling.  But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes. 1 John 2:9-11
Today's  politically charged environment  has many people being ugly and saying mean and hateful things instead of doing the opposite, praying. Of course some of those having outbursts or causing riots may not know Jesus as their savior but any who do should know better. It is the enemy's territory for certain.
How about fighting against sin and evil and not the person elected to lead our country? Deceiving spirits are out there and some masked as legitimate news organizations. You have to be on your guard and discerning.  Many prayer organizations have 24 hour prayer going on for this nation. It is exciting to know how God is working! Some walking in darkness hate this as dark hates light.
God's way is to love and turn the other cheek and pray for those being evil and cruel. Some may be your Facebook friends or even family. They may be lost souls who have no idea of the truth or they are being led by seducing spirits. Be nice and go pray.
PRAYER: Since the beginning of time there have been hateful people who don't like goodness. I pray Lord misguided deceived people. I pray for those being led astray  that you would transform their hearts and minds and lead the lost to you. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Dehydrated? Spiritually I Mean.

Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:13-14

Water is essential to life. No water, plants die. No water, animals die. No water, we die. But there is something way worse than this and that is being dehydrated in the spiritual sense. The water of life is Jesus! You may think you can do life without Him but you are wrong.

What is your normal day like? Do you feel you are just here by some accident? What are your feelings about spiritual things? Even if you call yourself a believer do you schedule time to be alone with Jesus similar to scheduling meetings or time with friends? If not you should start doing this or you may end up not spending time with Him at all.

Don't allow yourself to be parched spiritually. The enemy may make you think you only need to get baptized as a baby, be in a certain denomination, join a church, go to church at Easter and Christmas but there is way more my friend. Don't allow the devil to deceive you into being complacent about your walk with Christ. This Earth is not our real home. Don't get so tied to it you end up dehydrated.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus I need you in my life. I do not want to allow the enemy into tricking me into thinking I can just say I go to church and that is enough. There is more and I want it. In Jesus' name. Amen.

No More Lassie

I will not set anything worthless before my eyes. I hate the practice of transgression; it will not cling to me. Psalm 101:3

Many people reading this who are younger than baby boomer age or from another country may not understand my title exactly. I am referring to the kinder and gentler 3 channel TV days of family friendly TV on every station. It was a great time to be a kid and grow up. Television taught values and made you laugh at clean things. Today'sTV is far from this wonderful classic television of the 50's and early 60's. One decent show that did teach values was abruptly cancelled recently by ABC.

What my point of this devotion is, is that TV sort of shaped America. Similar to the wonderful aspect of being allowed to pray in school, have the Gideon's come and pass out New Testaments, letting children walk home without fear, now we have a whole new desensitized ball game out there. Call me old fashioned and I say "NO" but call me wanting decency in the minds and hearts of the populace once again. Before we went to bed watching Lassie rescue Timmy from the well, now we watch autopsies and sex scenes and programs trying to reshape minds.

Satan indeed is prowling around like a roaring lion seeking who he may destroy. He attacks the fabric of the family unit and destroys values and deceived many to become angry and complacent. It is time to kick Satan out of America. Are you with me?

PRAYER: Oh Lord I love America. Evil and wickedness have slipped in seemingly bit by bit undetected and now rage in the hearts of many inside this great nation who want to see it transformed. Oh Lord restore us to our former day's. Bring revival in the hearts of men. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Graduation

However, as it is written:“What no eye has seen,  what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived,   the things God has prepared for those who love him— 1 Corinthians 2:9

This is the time of year for high school and college graduations. Proud excited parents often shed a tear or two thinking of how their little one is now an adult. It is a surreal time in many ways.

There is another graduation of sorts and that is when we leave this earth and if Christ is in our hearts go to be with Him in Heaven for eternity. The verse for today indicates no one can imagine what this will be like. Many atheists and marginal church goers may mock this thinking Heaven sounds boring, with harps, angels and gold statutes. My friend NO ONE KNOWS what awaits us in the Heavenly kingdom. It is our graduation from this short life we live here.

Are you ready for your graduation? Do you know you will 'graduate' or are you not sure? No one knows when they will draw their final breath. Death is not to be feared unless you have denied Christ or not asked Him to be Lord of your life. If you are not certain why not ask Him to come live in your heart today.

PRAYER: I am ready to graduate. I know greater things await me when I leave this world. Help those who don't know you come to know you. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Stop Overthinking Things

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 2 Corinthians 10:5

How many of you out there are guilty of not being able to decide on things or wondering if you should do such and such or say something to this person or that person due to worry or fear. You may conger up thoughts in your mind or think things that are not even happening or real. Worry that someone thinks something they don't and on it goes. If only we could get out minds under control.

First and foremost give this stuff to God. Don't allow the enemy to make you nutty over junk and think crazy things. Stay occupied and recognize when you start to slip into this frame of mind and capture it right then and there. Bible teacher Joyce Meyer has a best selling book 'Battlefield of The Mind' and people struggle with this and that is why this area of so crucial to get discipline:.

Mind your own business first and foremost.  Don't worry about things you can not control. Be Christlike in all manner of thinking and acting. A thought should stay a thought and not a comment to someone, so work on getting that area under control as well. Above all, feed your mind daily on scripture. Pray about areas you need work on. Do a study on the mind of Christ. No go be in control with God's help.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus help me as I seek to kick out wrong thinking and embrace right thinking. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Extreme Hatred...Why??

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:12

Hate comes in all forms. Excuse me as I don my semi political hat for a few moments. Many readers don't like me doing this but it is necessary because political hatred affects us all especially when the source of daily news most people feed their minds on is geared to hate towards our current president. Misinformation done intentionally to rile people up and get people wearing shirts that say simply 'resist'.  Pray for these people okay?

We are in a war against Satan not man. This nation founded on Christ little by little has been taken apart by demons and demonic forces trying to get any semblance of God or Christianity out of it. Satan is a master of blinding and deceiving people and hatred of extreme measures like we have seen lately,  is not from God. This hatred hurts, destroys, lies, and demeans. Some of people caught up in it can't see their way out. Pray for them.

Today I ask you how is your heart? What do you believe? Maybe it is time for you to take a break from watching the news. We say we have freedom of speech but only hear one side. It is time for all people to tune in to God and turn off the nightly news. It angers, lies, tells half truths, and tries to push propaganda. Further it separates friends and family. Today turn to God and let your mind be saturated with his word. Start to pray when you feel like hating. And be nice to people.

PRAYER: I am grateful Lord for nations that still name your name. I know Satan loves to try to destroy those who love God. I pray for those I know who may be deceived and who are haters. Also I pray for strangers who fit this category. May we remember to pray for our nation and its' leaders. In Jesus' name. Amen.

For my foreign readers: Please remember to lift America and its' leaders up in prayer and to stay on your knees for your own nation as well. Pray also for those religious groups who hate America and would seek to kill us.

Need Beauty Supplies?

Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fineapparel—rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. 1 Peter 3:3-4

Sorry male readers but could not resist this title.  For those men out there consider this to be male grooming supplies, how is that? Many people are overly concerned on outside appearances and making impressions. Are you? What if these same persons were as concerned with the inner man or woman and how beautiful they were inside?

Looks are so fleeting. A car accident, a fire, a disfiguring disease, or an illness could destroy a person's outward appearance in an instant. It is what is inside that matters more than the outer shell you are 'housed' in. Billions of dollars are spent annually,  mostly by women,  to improve their outward appearance, get younger, get thinner, and on it goes. Why? Why do you care so much as this body is oh so temporary. Sure we are the temple of the Holy Spirit but not so sure this means buying billions of dollars in make up for improvement. Each person has to decide this on their own.

The point today is each person reading needs to insure they are beautiful or handsome inside. Care more about that than trying to impress people. Take time to beautify the inner self by feeding it a diet of God's word daily. I guarantee you that you will then radiate Beauty.

PRAYER: Oh Lord thank you for making me just like I am. I know I am responsible for staying in shape and treating my body with respect but help me not try to overdo it so much and be more concerned with my inner self. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Be Thankful And Say So!

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy. 2 Timothy 3:1-2
My generation grew up not only saying thanks for something but also writing actual thank you notes and mailing them. I feel in many cases being thankful is not happening. The verse above mentions this as a sign of the end of times. You never know.
Being thankful is important. It shows you are thoughtful and aren't taking someone for granted. Even if you get something from a family member don't ignore thanking them. Sure we are busy. Busyness is like a plague in America.
Take time to appreciate people and the blessings they bestow upon you. And don't forget to thank Jesus for what he has done for you as well.
PRAYER: I want to always have a thankful heart. Nudge me Lord to say thanks and not forget people and help me forgive people who forget to say thanks and not hold a grudge. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Be Nice To Mean People

Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable.Romans 12:17(NLT)

Recently someone deeply keyed the back panel of my Subaru Outback. I was sad and devastated to wonder what kind of a person does that to people's personal property. Could have been due to opposing political opinions since I had a couple prominent stickers on my window.  Whatever the reason was it was wrong, immature, and hateful.

I know the reaction from this act stirs up many emotions in people  such as "they'll get theirs someday" or "let them reap what they sow". Oddly enough I have no ill feelings for whoever did this to me. Sure it upsets me but  losing control is not the answer. And this person definitely needs prayer and lots of it. I made a report to law enforcement so it went on record. Other than that I will get it fixed.

Are you angry at a person in your life maybe a complete stranger perhaps? Anger solves nothing. Try to let go of whatever it is that has got you worked up. Don't shift blame or make excuses. Pray for whoever it is that has hurt you. That's in the Bible too!

PRAYER: It is so easy to be upset but I choose to let any bad situations in my life be handled by prayer and forgiveness. In Jesus' name. Amen.

No Guardrails....Really?

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Proverbs 9:10
When you are on the interstate highway or any type road, if there are ditches or bad curves in the road or a bridge crossing, more than likely you will see guard rails. They are there for your protection usually more able to protect you when you obey the posted speed limits and keep your eyes on the highway. I have a funny pair of socks from Pikes Peak that say "women don't need guardrails" which is intended to reflect my spirit of adventure not that I break rules. It is funny but all of us indeed need boundaries and guardrails in life.
Life requires guardrails if you intend to stay on the path God has planned for you. To go rogue without letting the Bible guide and instruct you is asking for trouble. I have a few people I know who declare themselves free spirits, atheists, church goers, socialists, and on it goes. Even a person who says "I go to church" may not in fact have Jesus in their heart. The saying goes that "Going to church won't make you into a Christian anymore than going into McDonalds makes you into a hamburger!" and that is oh so true.
Are you allowing God to be your guardrail or are you blowing Him off and going your own way? Does Jesus get any time during your day or just a quick dinner prayer, if that? Perhaps it is time to see if you need to install some guardrails in your life.
PRAYER: Lord forgive me when I have rebelled and gone my own way trying to do life without your guidance and protection. Use me Lord to help encourage another who may think guardrails are not necessary and help me stay within mine. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Don't Worry, Pray Instead

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Worry and fear go hand in hand. Some people almost feel justified in worrying or being fearful. That was never God's intent to make you uptight and concerned all the time.
Bad news as well as good news is part of life but by you worrying it will not change the situation one bit. Bad doctors' report? Pray. Financial problems? Attempt to cast your care on your Heavenly Father instead of trying to figure things out on your own.

Try to relax and give your situation to the Lord then try not to think about it so much. This takes discipline. We all have issues that are hard to let go of, but for your own peace of mind it is essential you try.

What do you need to give to God today? Now when you give it let Him have it. Trust Him.

PRAYER: At times when bad news comes or bad things happen I need your strength to just relax and be at peace. Help me. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Everybody Has A Biological Mom

As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you. – Isaiah 66:13

Unless you were born in a laboratory test tube, you have a biological mom. Your relationship with her may have been terrific, okay, so so, or non existent.  Mother's Day may be wonderful for you or extremely painful. Some are blessed to be chosen children of adoptive moms and dads. Some of your moms may have already died and hopefully are in Heaven with Jesus. So this day mostly is a day to celebrate.

You may be a mom reading this, a mom to be, a new mom, a grandmother, or a lady who was unable to have children. You may be a man reading this, and as we know it does take a man for a lady to become a mom and we are grateful for fathers too. This is a day to celebrate what the woman who raised you did for you. We have all probably seen celebrities or sports figures on TV when the camera is put on them what comes out of their mouth? Hi Mom!

This is a day to be thankful for not only our moms but for life in general. If you have aborted a child in the past God can forgive you and their is help in the form of counseling to get you through this trauma. All children are special to God no matter how they got here. So whether you are a mom, a dad, a mom to be, a grand mom or great grand mom you are to be saluted. It does not take a village to raise a child but a dedicated and loving mom and dad willing to sacrifice for their new born. Happy Mother's Day to all moms out there. Enjoy the day.

PRAYER: I am thankful for my mom Lord. I know there are those who have a difficult time today because their mom is no longer on Earth or their mom may be incarcerated or maybe she did nothing for you at all. Help each of us today to not harbor any hatred on this special day and celebrate the gift of life and the Mother's who birth children. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Your Anchor

This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God's inner sanctuary. Hebrews 6:19
What are you anchored to? A hobby? A job? A relationship? A sport? God? An anchor as most of you probably know is what sailors put down to keep their boat safe in the water and still. This anchor would hold it safely through a storm and keep it from floating away.
Jesus Christ wants to be your anchor. He wants to be what you connect to to keep you from drifting elsewhere into stormy waters. Are you letting him be your anchor or are you anchored to one of the other things I mentioned above? If He is not your anchor it is easy to float away from anything not of Christ and get caught up in weeds and storms and all the things that can drag you away.
Today take inventory of your life and be honest and decide who or what you are anchored to? Maybe it is time to pull up anchor?
PRAYER: Lord I need you in my life 24/7. Forgive me for the times I have put down anchor in stormy areas or made bad choices and shut you out. In Jesus' name. Amen.

A Life Of Victory

But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:57

Do you feel victorious or defeated? Simple question. Do you feel passionate about your walk with the Lord or is it becoming dull? Maybe it is time for you to check where your affections really lie and get them realigned so you can have a victorious life.

A person can claim to know the Lord but then could care less about spending time with Him in prayer and quiet time or even setting aside the Sabbath for worship. Your life feels defeated in the sense you just don't feel any power over this 'world' and how it can drag you down and try to conform you to its' mold. Maybe you aren't aware it has drug you down, now that is scary.

Are you living more for this temporal world or are you seeking things above and a life of victory? A question each of you have to honestly answer for yourself.

PRAYER: You are the potter Lord and I am the clay. Help me recognize when I am getting too sucked into a wrong belief system or way of thinking.I pray for family members who are trapped in wrong thinking as well.  In Jesus' name. Amen.

All Humans Are Precious To God

You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. Psalm 139:15
One day as I was driving somewhere I started pondering as I gazed up at billboards with someone's picture on it thinking "that person was a precious innocent baby once" and indeed every adult walking around is a gift of God, a tiny precious baby, at one time or another. Some were wanted, some were not. The thing is there are no accidents with God. All life is precious. God wants all of us!
Look around you when you start to condemn or judge someone and just think to yourself, that is a creation of God. They may not acknowledge or act like that but every creature is worth trying to save. Not one person is beyond hope, no one! "Oh but wait Becky, what about the child molester, rapist, murderer, that meddling family member?" Surprise, God loves them too! Many of those problems were created by a fractured family or lack of a father figure.
You are valued in the eyes of God. He has a plan and a purpose for all His creation. Glorify Him in what you say and do.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus I thank you for being born. I thank you for the gifts and abilities you have placed within me. Help me use them to bring glory to you. In Jesus name. Amen.

The Love Connection

Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. Romans 13:8
Do you want to be lifted up from the muck and mire of the everyday life you might find yourself in? Sometimes your attitude is brought on by yourself and it is easy to snap out of it. It is called the 'love connection' and is only truly found in believers. When you are filled with the love of God you can't help but spill your joy over to others.
The world's love is conditional. God's love is unconditional. It does not care what you look like, what your income is, what clubs you belong to, how you dress, or what church you go to or don't go to. Often times when you show love to another you can help win them to Christ. This is not done by shoving Jesus down their throats but by your day to day demeanor.
If you are feeling bad and having problems try building into the life of another and help someone. Pretty soon your love meter will start to go up and I guarantee you will feel much better.
PRAYER: Help me Lord to stop being self centered but to reach out beyond myself. Help me be kind to those who look like they are having a bad day. Use me in the life of another. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Your 'Job' Friends

One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.Proverbs 18:24

You may recall in the book of Job in the New Testament, Job was greatly tested to see his allegiance to God. If you have never read this account take some time and read this book. In Job 19:19 it says "All my intimate friends detest me; those I love have turned against me."

I have 'been there, done that, got the tee shirt' as the saying goes and it is not fun. It is very confusing particularly when you are clueless as to what brought it on. Indeed you do learn from bad situations in your life although they are devastating to endure.

If you have been shut out by a close friend first and foremost pray for this person. You may be angry, and confused. Think about Jesus when he was betrayed. How He must have hurt. Cling to God and He will get you through these times.

PRAYER: Lord I can't control other people and what they do but I can pray. Help me never be hateful when I am rejected but to remain steadfast in prayer. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Post Dramatic Stress Syndrome(PDSD)

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27

Life in general can create allot of drama. No one really has to hold the title of drama king or queen for this to occur. Stuff just happens and sometimes the human reaction is just to sigh and throw up your hands. After this occurs a good case of PDSD may occur.

Perhaps things happen in your life and seem to barrel out of control. You feel overwhelmed, exasperated, frustrated, and just want normality to return. When you get this way the best thing to do is stop what you are doing. Regroup. Pray. Relax. Now do that same sequence over. Take a breath. This too shall pass.

Give your worries to God. Give your relationship issues to God. Give your heart and life to God.

PRAYER: I am thankful I do not have to allow frustrations to define me. I am thankful I can go to call out to God at any time. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Running Off At The Mouth

Set a guard over my mouth, LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips.  Psalm 141:3

Does your mouth get you in trouble? Most people could honestly say yes or at least there have probably been times when you say the wrong thing at the wrong time. Perhaps you hurt someone and never asked for forgiveness. Maybe you lied about something?Gossiped?  The tongue indeed can cause lots of trouble if not kept in check.

Once something is said it is out there. It could be recorded to haunt you later or in form of a letter, text,  or email. The main thing to remember is to ask God to help you if this is a weak area. Your mom may have told you at one time "If you can't  say something good don't say it at all" and indeed how true that statement is.  James chapter three in the New Testament talks about no man being able to control the tongue. Oh if you and I could just think before we communicate.

Let your yes be yes and your words and thoughts  stay positive. You need right thinking and right thinking is developed by a steady diet of God's word. So what do you say...only good things I hope!

PRAYER: Lord I thank you for your forgiveness and grace cause when I mess up with my mouth I am feeling horrible and I need your help to stay on track. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Mayday, Mayday!

He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. Psalm 91:15
Recently we celebrated May Day or the first day of May also known as Loyalty Day for working Americans. But there is another kind of Mayday meaning a cry out for help in disaster mainly in the air or at sea. A distress signal in other words.
Our cry out as believers for help is crying out to our Father in Heaven to rescue us from evil. Evil is alive and well on planet Earth. Often times we are sucked into it without really knowing, or we are desensitized to sin and evil. You may have seen it happen to someone close to you. You yourself might have cried out to God in trying times when you just did not know what more to do. Good news. He is here 24/7.
Do you have a Mayday call? Cry out to God. Don't listen to the enemy whose job it is to make you fearful and worried. Trust God and know help is on the way.
PRAYER: May Day May Day! Jesus! Jesus! I know you hear us when we cry out your name. Help me never forget that.

Help me recognize when I am getting too sucked into a wrong belief system or way of thinking. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Do You See The Light?

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. Isaiah 9:2

If you have not done so already do yourself a favor and go see 'The Case For Christ'!  In this true story, Chicago Tribune reporter Lee Strobel, who is a self proclaimed atheist, comes to terms with his beliefs after his wife accepts Christ. In trying to disprove and discredit her new found faith something miraculous happens. Go see it.

Many walk in darkness and do not accept or know the truth. You probably know some of these lost souls. The enemy of the cross of Christ, Satan, has blinded them and deceived them into believing lies. Therefore they walk in darkness whether they think they are or not. Many of these who are wandering in darkness just cannot be reasoned with. It is only the Holy Spirit who can break through the darkness and lies.

If you encounter those who claim to be agnostic or atheists pray for them. Love them. Jesus loved those who did not love or agree with Him. Don't get preachy and self righteous. Shine the light of Jesus and  pray for opportunities to share.

PRAYER: Thank you Lord for those times in life you bring non believers across my path. Help me show love and remember to pray for light to break through the darkness. In Jesus' name. Amen.

You Are An Original!

Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand. Isaiah 64:8

You are unique. There is only one you. Different DNA, fingerprints, and cells in your body. It would be boring if all of us were alike. That was not ever God's intent.

Seems like in growing up during the teen years especially girls try to fit in and be like their friends. This age is hard to navigate through and can be trying on parents. Every person has a distinct giftedness and personality. The saying goes "bloom where you are planted" and indeed that is so true. We are not meant to be carbon copies of each other.

A sign I have on the wall of my home simply says "Be Yourself. Everyone Else Is Taken". Can you do that? Can you just be yourself and not worry about everybody else? Relax and follow God.

PRAYER: Thank you for creating me just like I am. You have plans for me. You want me to be who you created me to be. Thanks for helping me as I navigate through life. Help me not try to be like everyone else. In Jesus' name. Amen.

I'm Outta Here..You Joining Me?

We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8
Some day the trumpet of God will sound and believers will be taken up to meet him in the air. Are you going to be one of them? Are you sure? If you have trusted God as your savior and asked Him to be Lord then no worries.
I know of people who dread death. They want to stay here on Earth so much when in fact dying for a Christian is a promotion. Interviews with those who have died and were brought back to life reflected a glorious peaceful experience on what many refer to as 'the other side'. Our life here is so very short compared to what awaits us.
On this earth our struggles are not against mankind but as it says in Ephesians 6:12 "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this world's darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." Keep that in mind. There is a Heaven and there indeed is a Hell. We should not wish anyone to go there.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus help me to give peace to those who struggle with fear of dying. I know your kingdom is indescribable. Thanks for the glory that awaits us as we leave this temporary dwelling place. Comfort those who fear and use me Lord to help show people the way. In Jesus' name. Amen.

What Do You Have Faith For?

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.Hebrews 11:1

Do you have faith? Do you know God is working or would you rather waste valuable brain cells stewing over things you have no control over?

In the Bing online dictionary faith is described as follows: strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof. Now of course Bing is not a Christian based web search engine so naturally it would say there is no proof. That is why it is called faith.   Romans 4:17 talks about "calling things as not as though they were" or as I like to say, believe in your heart and trust God to carry it out.

Are you believing God for a turn around in your life or the life of a loved one? These things take prayer, patience, quietness, and faith, a big dose of it!  Know that without faith it is impossible to trust God fully. Faith is what being a Christian is all about.

PRAYER: I have faith that when I take an elevator it will not plunge me to the floors below. Similarly and more powerfully I know Lord you have a plan and I trust you to carry it out. In Jesus' name. Amen.
