Mischief, Evil, Or Love?


            Do not let my heart be drawn to what is evil so that I take part in wicked deeds along with those who are evildoers; do not let me eat their delicacies. Psalm 141:4

To celebrate or to not celebrate Halloween is a big deal in the Christian community. Many churches offer alternative celebrations known as 'Trunk or Treat' or 'Harvest Parties'. This time of year Hollywood inundates us with horror films and many Christians go feed their minds on them not giving it a second thought. There are even freestanding Halloween stores. Don't forget haunted houses.  Scaring people seems to be big business. 

           But what do you as a Christian do? Do you go along with the crowd and think it is innocent? Some use it as an opportunity to reach out. Those who like fortune telling    and ghostly spirits like this day. It traditionally is celebrated as a day of evil. Some laugh at this notion thinking it is purely innocent. Ponder and pray about it especially if you are raising little children.

There is evil and there is good. At this time of year it is a touchy subject with many in the faith community. I myself was born on Halloween so it is my birthday party. True it is fun to dress up and be someone else but when we start dressing children as devils, ghouls, zombies, and witches is that the right thing to teach them how to grow in Christ? Our children were in a Christian pre school once who gave the children plastic skull rings on this day. Well I have given you something to think about. 

            PRAYER: May God grant each reader peace in what he or she chooses to do on this day. I choose to not celebrate or glorify evil. I pray Lord for children to be   protected on this day of mischief. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Helping Others....Are You?


The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,Because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor;He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind,To set at liberty those who are oppressed;  Luke 4:18(NKJV)
Each of you reading this today has a circle of people in your life whether it is family, volunteer position you are in, your gym, small children at home, co workers, customers in coffee shop you are in daily, and neighbors and you may have some work to do to help some of these people and encourage them on a daily basis. It could be a comment you see posted on social media and are able to reach out and help. 
God uses each of us to spread love. Are you doing your part daily to do something for others? Maybe you could simply pay for the person behind you at the fast food restaurant you frequent. Perhaps send an unexpected card or gift. Call a friend you have not spoken to in a while. You get the idea. Don't just think of yourself because the world has needs and each of you can help. 
Your assignment today is to be purposeful in reaching out to spread God's love in a hurting world. I guarantee the side effect will be you will feel joy. 
PRAYER: Lord Jesus I know there are many who are hurting and I know I can help. Direct my steps and put on my heart where and who you want me to serve. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Are You Chilly?


Because of the increase of wickedness the love of many will grow cold. Matthew 24:12
Fall is finally upon us, I think, here in the South. Cooler temperatures, pretty leaves, crisp air. It by far is my favorite season of the year.  The chilly air brings out beautiful garments hidden away in the closets for months. The chilliness of the air is not what I am referring to by my title. But are you feeling spiritually cold? Hopefully not since you are reading this devotional in attempts to get closer to God.
Many think we are in the end times. Wickedness has increased. Knowledge has increased due to computer technology but sometimes not knowledge for the good. When the populace gains more knowledge they assume there is no need for God. Control is desired. Such as in Communist North Korea where a dictator rules everything. The people there are in bondage. Many in the United States are in bondage to wrong thinking and unless they stay in the word of God Satan can captivate and deceive them.
If you know people in your circle of influence who have seemingly become cold spiritually continue to lift them up in prayer. God hears your heart. His story is not finished with the lost yet. Don't be dreading a takeover by evil forces but instead be rejoicing in all the revival fires being stirred up in not only this country but in the world. Turn off your nightly news and pray.
PRAYER: Oh Lord you are way bigger than any lies and deceit the enemy spreads. I pray for people who are in a spiritual stupor or sorts that you would awaken them to the truth and to the tricks of the enemy and help them to run to you with arms wide open. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Ministry Does NOT Replace God In Your Life


Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15
If you are a prayer group leader, preacher, Bible study leader, choir director, or any type of ministry leader it can be tempting to think the preparation time for your ministry is your quiet time. I know it is tempting and I have struggled with it but your quiet time with the Lord should be for you to grow not to plan whatever ministry you are doing. Bible teacher Joyce Meyer even discussed this on her show one day. Even watching a minister on TV should not substitute for your time alone with God.
Each person has to decide how they are going to prioritize their day as to not let God be an after thought or no thought at all. It is so easy to think, "well I go to church on Sunday or listen to Christian radio" but you need to do more. Not in a legalistic sort of way but as a desire of your heart. I admit to the challenge of making this happen. First try leaving the television OFF in the morning. When you turn on a morning show you squeeze out God for sure and your mind becomes programmed with what you are hearing.
Start today and decide what it truly important. Do you really need to program your mind each day with the morning news? Is that going to lift your spirit? Probably not. If you work full time you need to be creative in this as well as if you are a stay home mom with little ones. Maybe include them. Get Up, get going, and get with God.
PRAYER: Thank you for each day you give me Lord. Forgive me when I let other things become more important than you. I am working to get my schedule in line so you truly come first. In Jesus name. Amen.

Fix Yourself First


"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? Luke 6:41

It is so easy to pass judgment on others. I hate when I catch myself doing it. We are not to stand in judgment over anyone. God did not assign us that duty. 

You look at someone and expect you know their 'story' yet you do not. You may look down upon someone who has body piercing or tattoos. Maybe you judge a person's lifestyle choices. Maybe it is how they dress or wear their makeup. It is not our job to 'fix' or stand in judgement of anyone. If you struggle with doing this ask God to deliver you from it. Would you want people doing it to you? 

Stop and say a pray and ask God to help you love the unlovely and not utter or think any bad thoughts about anyone. The more you do it the easier it will become. 

PRAYER: I have no right to judge my fellow man. When I point a finger another finger is pointing back at me. I will resist this urge to be ugly and do this as it sure is not a good example for someone who loves the Lord. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Blank Slate


"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

When a baby is born it is like a blank slate or for those of you born beyond 1985, a blank dry erase board. Nothing is written on it yet and the story is yet to be told. Many are the hopes and dreams of new parents and the responsibility is great. Oh the joy a newborn brings into the family.

It is the parents responsibility to teach this child and hopefully raise he or she for the Lord. There is no greater job than being a parent. Of all the jobs I had, even though challenging, it was my favorite and most rewarding raising our two sons. In Deuteronomy 11:18-19 it says "
Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your forehead. 
Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."

The world will throw all sorts of propaganda and false teaching at the child as he or she grows and matures and it is the parents job to counteract false teaching and be aware of it.  A parents  job is immense and even later in life if the child turns his back on what you taught them all hope is not lost. God is working. Continue persevering in prayer. 

PRAYER: Oh Lord, children are a blessing. Help me adjust to the different stages of being a parent to include releasing grown children so as not to cause problems. I thank you for the gift of new life and pray for a great beginning for all babies. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Oh Come On!


Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:21
When the populace loses its' senses and does things absurd and extreme the comment "oh come on!" is usually what is uttered by onlookers.  Doing something so politically correct it is foolishness is what warrants this comment. Such as the  banning of the classic film 'Gone With The Wind' by a Memphis theater a couple months ago when the country was in the midst of their second 'civil war' of sorts.

Your mind has to be controlled by the spirit so you don't fulfill the lusts and desires of the flesh. Ask yourself how Jesus would respond or react to something and you usually have the answer right there. Spiritual warfare is in full swing but you can not and should not,  be frightened by rumors of uprising but instead stay on your knees and pray. Love is the ultimate answer.

There is a battle of good versus evil, God versus the devil. Your mind must be saturated with truth, not NPR, CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC and all the rest. The truth and peace and love are found in the Holy Bible. Fear is perpetuated by the news media mainly for ratings and not everything is unbiased, most is not. So your choice is to stay peaceful or to stay angry and agitated. Should be a simple choice.

PRAYER: Lord I pray for those in our world who are trying non stop to stir up hatred and cause dissension and riots. Lord come into their hearts with truth and calm their spirits. Do not allow Satan to infiltrate and confuse. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Negativity Causes Hatred


The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10
 Staying positive in a world dominated by bad news, hatred, division, crime, and propaganda is a challenge. The thing I tell everyone is turn off any news having to do with politics and simply pray. God is the one in charge anyway.

Our media wants you to be agitated and stirred up so to counteract this it is necessary to intentionally stay away from newspapers and talk shows and focus on God. Tune into Christian radio such as the syndicated KLove.  Behind all this hatred and division is Satan, not an individual. Demonic spirits can take root in a person's life who consistently hates others.

Don't allow this to happen. God is love, period! Satan is the father of lies, evil, and deception. Be positive. Be encouraging. Be hopeful. And yes, pray!

PRAYER: I am thankful for the truth in your word that sets me free. I choose to pray for enemies trying to do evil. Turn evil hearts to you oh Lord. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Joyful, Just Be It!




Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things. Philippians 4:8

I had one of those days recently where I just felt down for no particular reason but it being self induced, or in other words thinking about stuff that drug me into a pit. You too may have experienced gloomy days where there is really no reason for it other than you were thinking about things you should not have been. You worry perhaps about a situation or compare yourself to someone or whatever else it might be and presto! You are in a slump. 

Thankfully some sweet friends saw my whining on Facebook and quickly rescued me with their encouraging spirits. You too need to be ready to help be an encourager because all of us have those less than stellar days. These are days maybe it is necessary to do some serious spiritual warfare. The enemy does not like us to be cheerful, joyful, and loving God. He will do all in his power to drag you down so be on your guard. 

Might I suggest each day to wake up thankful for all those things you have in your life. Turn on some good praise and worship music and get your spirit lifted up. Keep the news off or talk shows as they normally are less than redeeming. Make it a daily habit to wake up and says "thanks Lord for having another day to serve you!" See if you don't feel better. 

PRAYER: When I am down you lift me up Lord. I refuse to allow Satan's lies to disable my peace and joy. Help me look for others to encourage as well. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Preaching To The Choir


For  this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the LORD and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God. Colossians 1:9-10

Many who read devotions already know it is important to make Jesus first in your life and you take positive steps to do that by not only reading devotions each day but by hiding God's word in your heart daily. You may live under the same roof with those who go to church with you but just don't do much beyond Sunday. It is the Holy Spirit's job to convict a person of their need to grow in Christ. As much as you may want to say something, don't. Also church and religion don't save anyone. 

Love is what wins people to Christ not showing how perfectly together we may be(HA) or beating someone over the head with the Bible. The Holy Spirit is who brings conviction to hearts that are cold, lost, or straying from where they once were. Your job and mine, quite simply, is to keep praying. Period. 

Make sure each and every day you set an example for those soured to what they call 'religion' and be a light in the darkness around you. Keep praying for loved ones who seem to be lethargic about anything that smacks of Jesus. Don't lecture but love. Let God do the rest. 

PRAYER:There was a time I know Lord that I did not see my need beyond one hour a week but now I know that this world is not my home and I want to live for you and  help lead others to you through words and actions. Use me to do that Lord. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Broken People


The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18

"Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall. All the kings horses and all the kings men couldn't put Humpty together again." Of course that is the well known children's poem many recited to their children or perhaps had read to you. Brokenness is real and it hurts. I am not talking about broken bones, broken teeth and other physical body parts, but a broken spirit. You can not put your finger on it but you hurt. 

Brokenness can be as a result of trauma in your life. You feel hopeless, despairing, at the end of your rope so to speak. It is at these times many run from God when in fact that is when you need him the most. Someone may have hurt you but God will never hurt you. He can lift you up out of your pit and put you on solid ground again. He can bring redemption and restoration. 

Continue to seek God even when you are hurting. Stay in scripture. Start reading the book of Psalms. Keep seeking God. 

PRAYER: There have been times when I hurt bad Lord and some of it my own fault but other times it is other factors. Lord I know I need you especially in these times. Also once I am lifted out help me seek out others I can help. In Jesus' name. Amen.

The Huddle


Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Ah but the football season is upon us here in the United States. Many love it but others such as myself could care less. It is a seasonal sport and can teach valuable life lessons for team members. In football there is 'the huddle' where players receive advice, encouragement, and game plays and maybe at times prayers. 
In your life who is in your 'huddle'? Who do you go to for encouragement, advice, and prayers. There is a term called the 'holy huddle' which refers to when a believer doesn't get outside their Christian circle to meet others needs but in this case I am referring to who do you seek out to help you grow in Christ? Share your burdens? 
If it is the 'holy huddle' just make sure you use that advice and prayer to build into the lives of those not in any 'holy huddle' who may need to be lifted up on a regular basis. Build into the lives of others and seek ways to bless another's life.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus I thank you for the 'huddle' I have in my life that encourages me and loves me but help me to remember to leave that huddle to encourage others as well. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Satan plays with our minds, thoughts and emotions and can wreak havoc in a life God wants to use for his glory. We have all probably been there feeling discouraged, self pity moving in, and just feel worn out waiting. Why me Lord or why them? 
When you are at the end of your rope, keep hanging on.  Don't let go because God has still got you. "But then where is He Becky, why don't I feel better?" You have to be intentional about doing spiritual warfare. Often many churches don't even mention this.  You are in a war against demonic spirits trying to drag you down. Angels are real and so are demons. 
Make sure you don't forget to spend time with God each day. Would you forget to put on deodorant or brush your teeth? No you wouldn't so why is it so easy to go out of the house and forget your sword, the word of God to protect you. Be intentional about getting refreshed and ready to meet the day. Spend time in prayer and read some scripture before you step out onto the battlefield. 
PRAYER: Lord I need you every day. Forgive me for the times I have allowed the enemy to make me day dream wrong thoughts. I know the answer is always found in the Bible. In Jesus' name. Amen.

God's Agenda......Love!


Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 1 Corinthians 13:4-5

What is love and do you emulate it on a regular basis with everyone who comes across your path? Something to ponder. 

Do you love the person who stole the parking space you were waiting for? How about the disrespectful child or spouse? Maybe a friend who back stabbed you? The rude store clerk? The driver who cut you off on the highway? Love indeed is not just a feeling but it is a choice you make. So many couples may divorce because they don't 'feel' in love. You decide in your heart you will love no matter what and just do it! 

Who do you need to show love towards today? Maybe pick someone hard to love and be kind to them. Don't ever repay evil or rudeness but go the extra mile to be gracious, sweet, and kind. The more you do it the easier and more a part of your life it will become.

PRAYER: Love indeed does make the world go round. It is easy to hate but I know your word says to love my enemies and to pray for them. Help me learn how to love unconditionally. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Your Mess, Your Message


You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. Genesis 50:20

You may have heard someone say that at times the 'mess' in your life can turn into your 'message' and that is so true. God often uses bad junk that has happened to develop your testimony of sorts.

Many when they have been at their lowest most hopeless point have found God and started helping others who went through similar stuff. If you aren't careful though Satan will come in with his lies and say "Look what God allowed to happen. How could you possible live for Him now?"

When the going gets tough the tough get going is something we need to take to heart. The recent horrific events in Las Vegas have already had goodness come from them. Your wilted rose can indeed bloom again and you can live a full life helping others. Don't run the opposite way in your trial.

PRAYER: You are good all the time and all the time you are good. Thanks for redeeming the days I have had that were bad bumps in my life. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Sitting In The Big Chair?


Whoever exalts himself will be humbled and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. Matthew 23:12

Often times when a person has humanly arrived at the pinnacle of Earthly success they may have a special parking place, their name on a door, a private office, a brass plaque with their name and title engraved upon it, or a very large cushy leather chair.  Now those are things that make someone feel they are special. But aren't we all special and valuable to God?

If you do happen to rise to stardom, fame, or up the corporate ladder,  make sure you realize it is not all about you. Be sure to give God the praise and glory and also to not ever think you are above people or better than them. Truly humble individuals are a joy to be around but those who are puffed up and egotistical don't care about others. Be willing to lower yourself and serve. Don't feel as if everyone needs to serve you. Don't allow fame and fortune to make you feel self important.

Humble people are a joy to be around. Those who truly are able to forget themselves and concentrate on God and others before themselves.

PRAYER: Lord it is through you that all good fame and fortune come. I thank you for gifts and talents you have bestowed upon me in my life and forgive me if I was ever puffed up. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Shaken And Stirred


I keep my eyes always on the LORD. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.Psalm 16:8
Do you ever feel shaken by things going on around you or stirred up inside that you just feel overwhelmed? There are sure many things in our world to cause us to be shaken up and unsettled. You have to know that the God of the universe does not want you to be shaken but He wants you to trust that everything is going to be okay. 

In the United States today if you watched the news non stop you certainly would feel shaken and stirred up inside. You cannot continually allow media to dictate your feelings. It is necessary to start spending more time in prayer to obtain peace and when you have the urge to watch the nightly news go instead and read the Psalms. 

If you develop a habit of turning off sources of things that bring you fear and anxiety soon you may be able to be grounded in Christ and live an unshakeable life. 

PRAYER:I choose this day and every day to not let the world news cause me to be upset but to turn it off and tune into You. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Hey Where's My Order?


Do everything without grumbling or arguing. Philippians 2:14
I am not sure about other nations,  but here in America we have it pretty good to include most 'poor' people compared to many other nations,  but yet some of us are not satisfied and grumble and complain. 

I sure am grateful to my parents and grandparents generations. They had to continue to build a great nation and fight the wars to keep us free. Many flock here for the American Dream. Are you grateful for what you have? Have you taken the time to even think about the good stuff? True some may have had harsh rough lives but God saw you through, right? When your fast food isn't fast enough do you get upset? 

Maybe it is time to start the one thing a day blessing or thanksgiving jar. Surely you can think of something good each day and write it down on paper and put it in this jar. I did this for three years in a row. It is a wonderful discipline to help change your attitude. So today are you able to be grateful instead of demanding? 

PRAYER: Lord I am sorry for any time I have not been grateful for just what blessings are in my life. Wonderful parents who raised me. And education. Good healthcare. Family who loves me. Friends. Thank you Jesus. In Jesus' name. Amen.

How Is Your Walk?


So that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. Colossians 1:10

You're a good person. You believe in God. You have not killed anyone. You don't gossip. You give money to charity. You take care of your parents. But how is your 'walk'? I am referring to your spiritual walk. 

Often times people who aren't frequenting church may refer to those who do and go beyond that and are a tad fanatical as religious. First I hate the word religion and I think God does too. As for being a fanatic, guilty as charged. There is more to saying you are a Christian than just saying it or even just going to church. Some hate church for whatever reason and say their church is nature. Many go but are only different that day and nothing changes the rest of the week. 

Your life should emulate Christ. You should want to be in Fellowship and teach your children the same. Find a dynamic church that preaches the word. Find a church with a good children's ministry. Sometimes people are more comfortable in non denominational churches and for those of you who have been in a denomination for awhile go check one out. Above all 'walk' in all areas of your life to please God. Spend time daily in prayer and read your Bible. Start in the Psalms if you have no clue. Walking for the Lord is a daily discipline you should seek to do. 

PRAYER: I want to walk worthy and to please you Lord. I want to be a witness for you wherever I go each day. Help me get rid of things in my life that make me walk away and not to you. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Side Effects


"The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, For the Lord holds them by the hand.” Psalm 37:23-24

In our worrisome world often you may be a person who is concerned about the side effects from either a certain prescription or perhaps an inoculation you are required to take. My goodness,  some of the drug commercials on TV are enough to send you running for the hills with all the things that 'could happen' listed. 

I am going to talk about a different sort of 'side effect' that being the life of peace and joy when you choose to give up control of managing your own life. How do you manage your own life you might say? Maybe by putting God in a box and sort of trying to orchestrate outcomes on your own. Perhaps it is time to let God have complete control, cause He does anyway. Your side effect which awaits you once you place complete trust in Him will be peace.

Are you able to give this method a try? Total trust in the savior even when the situation ahead of you looks bleak. God is not finished yet so settle back and pray and believe.

What's In A Name?


Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the
 name that is above every name. Philippians 2:9

Throughout the generations and as time passes, there has been a trendy way to name a newborn, a hippy laid back name, a family name, a classical name, a celebrity name, or a Biblical name. My husband and I chose the latter. Names carry meaning and they go with you the rest of your life so parents of newborns have a huge responsibility deciding on that all important 'title' of sorts. My son and his wife expect their first born, a daughter, in less than a month. I am excited of course to find out on her 'birthday' what name she will be given. 

Jesus is the all important name because he is the name above all other names! At his name healing comes and miracles happen. There is power in the name of Jesus. To overcome, to cast out demons, to break every chain you are in bondage too. 

The little baby in a manger indeed has a powerful name. Have you called out his name and asked him to be Lord of your life? Is his name the most important thing in your life? 

PRAYER: Lord I call on your name and I am saved from my enemies. I praise your name. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Hurt Feelings, Self Pity, and Loneliness



 A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. Proverbs 17:22

I am sure I am not the only one reading who has dealt with the three emotions above in my title. When people hurt your feelings you want to just run away sometimes. You start feeling an urge towards self pity and finally advance into loneliness. Often times no one knows how you are even feeling. It is necessary to try to master the art of getting beyond these things. But how? 

First you need to separate yourself from your emotions because they can not be trusted. They are wishy washy and come and go. Next the key word in self pity is 'self' which we are told to "die to daily". Self means we are thinking of our own self and not other people. As Bible teacher Joyce Meyer says "Pity parties are pitiful" and indeed they are. 

When you feel down, left out, hurt, trampled upon try to think of a way you could be a blessing to someone else.  When you do this you won't be crying over your own problems. Give it a try. By blessing others sometimes you bless yourself. 

PRAYER: Lord Jesus forgive me for times when I allow my emotions to get the best of me and saturate myself in self pity. When I do this I can not be close to you. I will not allow Satan to do this to me. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Forgiveness...It Is A Life Changer!


Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:32
Have you ever uttered the statement "I can not forgive them for what they did to me?" When you did, do you think it pleased God? You may say "I can forgive but I certainly won't forget" then I say to you, is that true forgiveness? 
I recently saw the new Pureflix film 'A Question Of Faith' which deals with forgiveness, teen texting while driving, death, racial prejudice, and has a marvelous impactful tremendously joyful ending urging people to stop texting while driving and to become organ donors.  Carrying grudges against people because of unsettled issues only glorifies our enemy Satan. He loves to cause division so don't let him!
Whatever it is you are dealing with, get on your knees and pray for God to take away the stony heart inside of you that is causing anger which sometimes you may feel is justified. God's plan is to forgive, period! What if God said "Well they sure do deserve Hell but I will forgive them but I am not going to forget." Sounds pretty silly doesn't it? My friend, no matter what it is first stop dwelling on it, talking about it, then truly surrender your hurt,anger,and pain and ask the Lord to help you love that person as only He can. 
PRAYER: Lord I want to be able to let go of the pain of those in my life who have been mean to me or hurt me or a family member. I choose this day to stay in your word and to pray daily for any enemies I may have. In Jesus' name. Amen.

The Worry Throne


And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? Matthew 6:27

Who or what is on the throne of your life? Seriously, give that some thought. I was recently watching Bible teacher Joel Osteen referring to what he called the 'worry throne'. Many of you may have at one time or another found yourself camped out upon it.  I know I have. 

If you and I call ourselves children of God and trust in Him then what business do you have worrying about every little thing that happens. Just as today's verse indicates, that worry or anxiety does not do one thing to change a situation. But it can have the effects of making you mentally and physically sick. 

You prayed for an issue correct? Well then it is time to act like you really trust God and not sit around striving over this and trust that God is a pretty big God, wouldn't you say, and knows what He is doing. The main thing is you have to get your thoughts under control. Your mind can destroy any chance of peace. Meditate on God's word and not your problem and truly surrender it to Him. Can you do that?  

PRAYER: I know when I am able to fully trust you and let go of what is weighing me down I will start to see you working. Help me to not allow the enemy to make me cave in to fear and doubt. In Jesus' name. Amen.

No New Amendments


Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Hebrews 13:8

In our government occasionally there are votes held and amendments have been made to the US Constitution. People in our society have tried to get rid of God's word probably because they realize how powerful it is. There is no changing what it says in God's Holy word.  You can't add to it or take away from it it further states in Revelation 22:19. 

The Bible may be banned in school distribution and colleges that once were founded on the Bible now have become liberal in their ideology. That is because man was tempted to stray from the truth and believe lies of the enemy. Heartbroken parents who raised their children for the Lord often discover their adult children have no desire for the word of God. Satan is not going to win this battle. 

The battle is NOT over. Continue to lean into the truth regardless of what is swirling around you in your world you occupy. There are many promises in the word as well. It has power to change whole nations. My child know that nothing that Satan can ever do will overpower truth. 

PRAYER: Lord I do love your word and don't understand when people stray from what they once knew to guide them. By the mighty power of your name we bind Satan from hindering the truth from those who once you it. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Battlefield Sundays


If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. Mark 3:25

Does it ever seem to you that Sunday turns into a battle day of sorts as you scurry about to get ready for church? Could be Satan is doing his darnedest to upset you and keep your heart from being prepared to soak in a good teaching at your house of worship. Fight on way to the church parking lot then exit as if everything is peachy as you walk in the doors of the sanctuary.

Our enemy is Satan. He does not like you going to worship and feeling all good about loving and helping others so naturally chaos might erupt sending some families into a tizzy on the day they have looked forward to all week.

If this has happened to you stop now and recognize it is a tactic from the enemy and say  "in Jesus' name we do not want you to bother us Satan so get out now!" If someone tries to pick a fight be at peace and just give it to God. Be proactive in allowing the Holy Spirit to guide you and be careful to not let things go crazy on Sundays.

PRAYER: I know the enemy likes to cause people to argue and fight and has been at the center of many marriage breakups. Right now I come against him and say to get out of my house and stay out. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Peace, Just Have It!





Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27

What things happen in your life that cause you to lose peace? Worry is a huge culprit. Losing things such as keys, cell phone, credit card, or glasses. You can not continually allow Satan to make you lack peace. That is a tool straight from the pit of hell. 

There are people who I have encountered who tell me they are just naturally worriers. If that is you please try to understand that stressing over stuff won't change it and you are going to have to purpose in your heart to not allow Satan to rob you of God's gift of peace. Pray then try to let it go. I had some issues I was allowing Satan to cause me grief over then I realized it and knew it was spiritual warfare and now I am totally at peace over it, really! 

Worry, stress, and all the rest can destroy you not only mentally and spiritually but physically as well. Talk out loud to Satan and tell him you are a child of God bought with the blood of Jesus and he will no longer steal your peace and joy. Then do it!

PRAYER: Many things occur in life and can indeed wreak havoc on me emotionally Lord but I choose with your help to start turning it over to you then truly let it go. Help me not allow Satan any more leeway into messing with my mind. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Be Bitten By The Nice Bug


Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? (Romans 2:4 ESV)

No there really is not a 'nice bug' but my point is how hard is it to smile and show kindness? You might surprise many people when you start displaying this wonderful Christian gift and trait. No strings attached, just niceness overflowing and running over.

You may be surprised at those your kindness  or your smile might make the difference in their otherwise heart breaking, stressful, dull day. You never know what people are going through. Be nice to clerks when an order is wrong or a coupon won't go through. Be nice to the car dealership service department when they do shoddy maintenance work on your car. I am not saying to not make things right but do it in a kind manner just like Jesus were sitting there with you. Treat people like you expect to be treated. 

You are not placed in this world by some cosmic accident but God has a purpose for you. He wants you to share his love to those you encounter and spread love, joy, hope, and goodness wherever you may go. The store, the gas station, the airport, the bus station, the restaurant, the coffee shop, your child's school, your school and add to this list. He wants you to treat people kind who you may not feel like you want to. Try it and if it is hard ask God to help you. 

PRAYER: Your love endures forever Lord and I know I am a big part in helping display that love to other people I encounter. Give me a shining smile each and every day and help me stop saying ugly things about people behind their back or on social media. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Here It Comes Again!

My title today is meant to refer to Christmas or the merchants high holy day being facetious of course. August was not even over till I saw red and green popping up in all sorts of stores. I just wanted to scream. Let us get through Labor Day first okay?

The older I get the faster Christmas seems to roll around. Also the older I get the more I become less compelled to have to stress over the world's secular view of what is often called Xmas. Christmas does not have to cause stress only if you allow it. You can even break from tradition and do something different such as a trip on your own. Try not to allow extended family to dictate what is required and do it lovingly and you might enjoy this Holy holiday much more for a change. Find ways to give to others such as Samaritans Purse Shoebox Ministry or Prison Fellowship Angel Tree Ministry. 

Don't let obligations stress you out. Purpose to cut back, change things up a bit, and have a peaceful Christmas season. Remember in fact in all the hub bub right around the corner to never forget what it is all about. The birthday of the greatest man ever, Jesus!

PRAYER: Lord in just 86 days it is the best day ever so help me remember now and not do so many worldly things I forget the meaning. In Jesus name. Amen.
