YOUR DASH

Recently the father in law of a good friend of mine passed away unexpectedly since he had been in very good health. She said he had lived a fulfilling life and was a Christian so she knew where he would spend eternity. I was talking to her about the fact that on tombstones or memorial markers the date of birth is listed, as well as the date of death. In between these dates is a small 'dash'. This dash represents all the years of the life of the deceased and everything they did. Think about it. One small little line encompasses a lifetime of experiences to include joys and sorrows. For everyone it is different.

When you die someday, and none of us knows when that day will come because death will come like a "thief in the night"(see 1 Thessalonians 5:2) will  you leave behind a fulfilling 'dash'? No one knows the hour or circumstances in which they will die.(See Matthew 24) So while you serve as an 'ambassador' on earth what things are you doing to fill in that dash? 2 Corinthians 5:20 says "We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God."It does not matter if you are important in the worlds' standards but are you impacting those around you for the good? Does your legacy include doing things for the kingdom of God? Something to think about.

PRAYER: Father help us to do all things as if working for you. Someday when we leave this earth and only a dash is on a memorial marker somewhere help that tiny dash be filled with things to build up your kingdom and be closer to Christ. In Jesus Name , Amen.
