MY TO DO LIST

Today I had my 'to do' list on the passenger seat of my car and upon getting back into the car one time could not find it. I frantically was trying to recall what was on it when I found it underneath some papers. Whew, close call! There were several tasks on there I needed to get done. One of the things on my list was eating lunch with my Moms in Touch prayer group and that is where my friend Thea gave me the idea for this devotion.

Instead of telling ourselves what 'to do' all the time make a list of spiritual 'not to do's'. For instance, don't get angry, don't get even, don't lie, don't be jealous. You could go on and on. So here are a few more. Do not speak evil of people, do not seek to be rich, do not hold grudges, do not covet things you do not have, do not compare yourself to someone else, and do not wish you had a talent that you do not have. You get the point.  " Put on the full armor of God" the Bible says so we can resist the attacks of the enemy. ( See  Ephesians 6:11)

But we do not necessarily want a big list of no's but what God does want us to do. Be loving, be kind, be generous, be fruitful, be joyful in all things, be thankful, be ready to give an answer for anyone who asks about your hope in Jesus, be a good witness and so it goes. The Bible is full of this kind of wisdom and good stuff. It is exciting!  Be kind to one another, be merciful, be willing to share,  be non judgmental to others, be compassionate, and be loving at all times.

There are many scripture references for all the things mentioned above. You can do a google or bing search to find verses. But one important 'do not' is in Colossians 4:2 and it says, "Don't be weary in prayer, keep at it,watch for God's answers and remember to be thankful when they come." So of all the things to not do "do not grow tired of praying". Also do not grow weary in well doing because you will reap a harvest if you faint not. (see Galatians 6:6-10).

PRAYER: Father thank you that you do want us to be your hands and feet to those hurting people around us. Lord thank you that we can do your list of 'to do's" in order to help those in need around us. Show us opportunities and help us not grow weary. In Jesus Name. Amen.
