Family...What’s It All About?

Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.1 Timothy 5:8

It is very disheartening to me as a baby boomer to see the downward slide of the family and the brokenness of culture as a result. The enemy has unleashed his barrage of lies and deceit throughout the years and sadly many Christians have become victims.

Fathers are the ultimate glue that holds the family together yet how many children are raised without one in the home? Crime is high is many areas as a result of fatherless homes. Family now has also been redefined by the culture to mean not just a man and woman and children because Satan is out to destroy the traditional concept of family.

Extended families like grandparents and uncles and aunts often are not even part of the equation or at times in a broken home situation you have the innocent child growing up bouncing between two homes and sometimes raised by the grandparents. If this is your situation you are very loved by God. He can heal you and redeem you from any situations that you didn’t bring on yourself. Cry out to him. Pray for family unit to stay intact. Pray for grandparents to be loved, respected, and a valuable asset in children’s lives passing on a legacy. Above all let the joy of the Lord be your strength.

PRAYER: I am thankful for the parents who brought me into this world. I am thankful for children, for grandchildren, for being able to help those hurting from fractured upbringing. Shine your light through me to go out and minister to a hurting world. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

  1. As I have gotten older, I realize how precious our extended family is. Sometimes all we can do is pray for them.
