Today in the United States we observe the official Columbus Day holiday named in honor of explorer Christopher Columbus who discovered the Americas. And what a discovery it was! Our founding is unique. We are a blessed nation, or at least have been. This nation has been blessed throughout the years with many talented people who came here to create, invent, and discover many things. Our freedom has given rise to the ability to pursue the dream you want or to discover even more.

Perhaps it is time for many to 'discover' the truths within the pages of God's word, The Holy Bible. It holds the key to life and life more abundantly. Discover it today in a new and fresh way. If you have grown up and all your life thought church was boring and religion dull then maybe it is time to search your heart and discover the gifts hidden inside of you. Reading the Bible and living for Jesus gives one freedom! Freedom to do what you want to do and to discover the gifts God has blessed you with. Perhaps your discovery will lead you to a church home for the first time or a new church home where the Bible comes alive. Do not be stuck in a rut somewhere but seek to know God better and have your life come alive as you live for the Lord daily and it may mean changing churches. Some might say "I can't do that. I have always gone here. This is where my family raised me." If you have not asked Jesus to be Lord of your life and become born again then now is the time to do this. Get excited about Jesus. Let Him be your first love.

John 1:1 says " In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God." Take time today to discover Jesus. Start by praying then by getting into the Bible. Find a Bible study to attend during the week or start one yourself. Take each day and read a book out of Proverbs in the Old Testament. Today is the 8th day of the month so read Proverbs 8 and each following day read the chapter in Proverbs that corresponds to that day. It is a great way to get into the word and discover the truths within its' pages.
PRAYER: Thank you Lord Jesus for the word of God. Forgive me if I neglect it and rush about daily and do other less important things. I know through reading your word I am putting on the armor of God to prepare me for attacks from the enemy, Satan, who is out there trying to take me out. In Jesus name. Amen.
