DESPERATE FOR GOD??
In life there are lots of things people get desperate for. Desperate to get into a certain school. Perhaps desperate for a pay raise. Maybe desperate to meet a certain person. But is God something we are desperate for?
In life there are lots of things people get desperate for. Desperate to get into a certain school. Perhaps desperate for a pay raise. Maybe desperate to meet a certain person. But is God something we are desperate for?
We are to seek God with all of our hearts. Are you the type of person who loves Jesus all the time and is in constant communication with Him or is Sunday for one hour enough? Those people who are 'Bible thumpers' are a little freaky you might think. I mean why isn't going one hour a week enough? I will tell you why.
First if you have a lamp if you want it to light up you have to plug it into a power source, the electrical outlet. or it will not light up. Similar we Christians can not 'light up' for Jesus unless we are constantly and consistently plugged into our power source that being reading the Bible and prayer.Second is we are to be in the world but not of the world. 1 John 2:15-17 says "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever."
Mark 12:30 tells us "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' The same thing is repeated in Deuteronomy 6:5. Think about the feelings of human love and the excitement you get being around someone you are in love with. Jesus is waiting for you to be sold out to Him as well. He is why we are all here in the first place. The worlds ways are not God's ways. We are to be his lights and his servants in the place he has us. We are not to be ashamed of Him it tells us in Mark 8:38. So let me ask you again, are you desperate for Jesus?
PRAYER: Lord God I want to put you first in my life and have a hunger for your word and getting to know you better. Forgive me when things of this world push you into the back corner so to speak .I am desperate to live for you .In Jesus name. Amen.
