For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11
Welcome to the month of December where we are to seek after peace on Earth and good will to men. The month we celebrate the birth of Christ should in fact be centered on that, but outwardly our world shines for Santa Claus more than the savior or so it seems. This time of merriment leads many a person to look forward to December 26th for then all the baking, parties, gifts buying, card sending, obligations, cleaning, and visiting will be over. This season is happy and lots of good is done but on the other hand many people are very lonely and that is emphasized this time of year. It becomes popular to visit soup kitchens, nursing homes, and other places where the 'forgotten' may be.It is time to let Christmas spread into the other 364 days on our calendar. Don't work yourself into a frenzy thinking you 'have' to do something cause it is Christmas. Start some new traditions. One thing I did several years ago to make this time of year more peace filled was to do my traditional family photo card as a New Years card and wait till later in January to mail them out. Whatever you decide to do make sure Christ is at the center of this special time of year after all if it were not for Him we would not be celebrating in the first place. Now go and be merry!PRAYER: I love your birthday celebration Lord and help me to stop each day during this time of year and spend time with you. Often we are so caught in manmade things we forget why we have this holiday, Forgive me Lord. In Jesus' name. Amen.
