I love freedom. In the United States we have religious freedom guaranteed by the First Amendment. It is a gift God gave us that evil men try to take away from us.
Many of our religious rights guaranteed by our First Amendment have been threatened in the past few years. Presently Vanderbilt University is in a battle to keep the freedoms for religious organizations that name the name of Jesus to remain there. A rally entitled Stand Up For Religious Freedom was held nationwide this past year primarily opposing the attacks on people of faith in the new healthcare legislation  but it is evident our country can not get along without the blessings of God.
The recent drought got me to thinking  about what it says  in the scripture Psalm 33:12 t. " Blessed is the nation whose God is the  Lord."  Perhaps God is trying to wake America up? Just something to think about.
We have definitely been blessed in America and freedom is a true gift from God. Galatians 5:1 says " It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand from then and do not let yourselves be entangled again in a  yoke of bondage."
Do you take worshipping the Lord for granted? There could come a time if we do not pray and speak up that our churches are shuttered. Have you memorized scriptures to call on if your bible were taken away from you? Many communist nations do not have the freedom to have their Bibles  in public or they risk imprisonment.
Amos 8:11 says "The days are coming says the lord, when I will send a famine through the land. Not a famine for food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the Lord."
Do you take worshiping God for granted? Get serious about loving God and not just bought being religious. Get to know the promises in God's word and pick up that Bible and do not take it for granted.
PRAYER: Thank you Lord for the freedom I enjoy to attend a house of worship. Help me not do it out of routine but out of a love for Jesus. Forgive me Lord when I have not read the bible or had a quiet time with you. I know it is important for facing the day ahead. In Jesus name. Amen.
