ANNIVERSARIES TO REMEMBER

Today is the one month anniversary of the wedding of my younger son and his new bride. I am still thankful to God for bringing them together and it is nice to say this is their one month anniversary.
Anniversaries can bring joy or sadness. Remembering when you met your beloved, your first date, your first kiss are special. Anniversaries of a promotion are nice remembrances of an achievement met. Anniversaries of when you got job is nice if you like your job.

Anniversaries  also can bring tremendous sadness. Tomorrow is the anniversary of my fathers death as he has been gone for 20 years. An anniversary of a child's death is even more painful. Anniversaries of being fired or a break up are not nice memories. But anniversaries are part of life, good or bad.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 reminds us "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace."

PRAYER: Lord thank you for all the moments of joy you bring into my life but help me to endure those times of sadness which are part of life as well. Help me rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep. Give me the ability to comfort those in mourning and give me the desire to celebrate the joys of friends and family. In Jesus Name. Amen.
