"And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord" Ephesians 6:4
This is a special day at least here in America. It is Father's Day. My dad went to be with Jesus back in 1992 but for those who still have dads it should be a celebration. Often times though it is not. Statistics prove the dad is just as important if not more for a stable well developed loving family. Society has many problems due to the absence of a father in the home. Many are in jail or deadbeat dads or were never around to begin with.
For those of you blessed by a good Father/child relationship be thankful. Women's lib would like to think men are not necessary but on the contrary how are babies born? Hmmm. The dad traditionally has been delegated even by God as the authority figure and bread winner. That does not mean he is superior but that is the role in the Biblical family. Someone has to be the final authority cause there can not be two captains of one ship.
If your dad is still alive be sure to call him today. If he is but you are estranged from him, forgive him. If he hurt you, forgive him and let it go. If you have deep issues go seek Christian counseling. If you are a dad be the best you can be. Be a godly dad who stays on his knees in prayer and reads the Bible. Your family needs a spiritual leader not just a paycheck.
PRAYER: Abba Father you are my daddy in Heaven. I thank you for daddies here on Earth that sacrifice so much for their families. Help dads everywhere come to take on the responsibility of the spiritual leader of the home. In Jesus' name. Amen.
