Houston We Have A Problem

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. Psalm 46:1-5

When January 1,2020 rolled around you may have been giddy with a whole new decade and new roaring 20’s upon us. New vision. New hope. Nobody could have foreseen the way we are now all shut down away from others except for an occasional trip to get milk, go for a walk, or keep appointments that have not been cancelled.

Upon flying three times in the month of January someone mentioned to me “aren’t you worried about the Corona virus” and it was not yet front and center on our news so I had not really heard of it. When I would get to ‘hub’ airports such as Dallas it was common place to see foreign travelers wearing masks even before this  outbreak so I never gave it a second thought. Now when we get the all clear to go back to life as usual many will be wearing those same masks in airports as well as other places.

How are you coping my friend. April 13,1970 was when the title above was uttered by an Apollo astronaut when things looked like the three man crew may not get home. It was a nerve wracking time. All of a sudden the space program got attention again. I am sure many were waiting for failure and a horrible report. Maybe that is how you are feeling now about Coronavirus like “enough already” I am gonna scream. Instead of screaming thank God that he is in control and his plans are better than any of ours. This is not our death sentence so stand firm and keep hope cause it will be over.

PRAYER: Oh most gracious Lord give peace to those I know who are beside themselves with fear and continue to watch news reports to feed their fear. Give everyone the strength to turn to you and turn off non stop fear. Sure we know it is real but instead let us continually pray for a miracle and breakthrough. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

  1. Becky: I have received sad news. A cousin of mine has died from the COVID19. He was in a local nursing home. His daughter works there as an LPN. She has been diagnosed since her dad died. Her mother is also a resident there. A lady we used to go to church with is a resident there and has been diagnosed as well. Please pray for all who have lost family members and loved one to this virus.

  2. Wow I am so terribly sorry. I guess they are serious when they say stay away from nursing homes. Has the nursing home had a thorough disinfecting?
