Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior…” (Isaiah 43:1b-3a, NIV).
It is no understatement that 2020 was a year for the record books. A time of sadness coupled with immense pain and loss for some and a time of isolation from friends, family, and loved ones. During this time there was happiness too with the birth of new children and grandchildren. One was our granddaughter.
Through the past year many lessons were learned and one was not to take ANYTHING for granted. Also to not put trust in a mere man but on God. For once you could not be self reliant but had to sit back and slow down awhile. Zooming work,meetings, church groups, families became the standard protocol for now. Air travel, vacations, graduations, weddings and funerals all looked different.
So yes it was a tad on the ‘stormy’ side especially for those people who suffered loss of a family member, business closure, job loss or layoffs. But alas the year is over and you can look forward to joy and hope and expect nothing less. Don’t feel all gloomy or get mad but anticipate what you have to look forward to.
PRAYER: Lord I am grateful for how you hold the future and are not fretting so neither should I. Help me seek to trust you each and every day and show kindness to those hurting. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
