Detour

 

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.Romans 8:28

 

When most people see a road sign that reads ‘Detour’ they let out a sigh as if saying “oh no” and then press on. A detour is a good thing if keeping you away from an accident or construction zone but how many hate those ‘detours’ in life such as what many experienced in 2020.

 

Undiagnosed illness, unexpected death, business closure, furlough, all contributed to feeling of uneasiness. Life looks very different and many families are isolated from each other some even in the same community. Many unable to worship in person as well.

 

You can either complain or go with the flow and make the most of the situation knowing it is not forever. During these times it could be what are you supposed to gain from this. God can work it all for the good if you press in and make the most of it. Journal your feelings. Get into God’s word. Don’t throw a pity party because only you will be there. Run past those detours to victory. 

PRAYER: You are my help Lord in good times and bad and your will be done. Keep me from caving to self pity and help me find creative ways to cope in this time. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
