“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” (Matthew 5:6 ESV)
American ‘Christians’ often time’s look good on the outside but where is your heart and do you truly hunger for the word of God? I mean really or is the Bible something you might pick up occasionally? Ponder that.
Pastor Andrew Brunson who suffered in a Turkish prison and was later released through negotiations between his captors with President Trump, can tell you what Christian persecution is and things may have picked up the last few years but are we Americans prepared to suffer for Christ? He says in speaking of reading the word “It's daily bread. We wouldn't eat just one day a week, so we shouldn't just study God's word one day a week. We should be in it constantly.”
Our faith walk seems so casual in the United States until a true threat of being persecuted is on the horizon such as in the last several years. Do you care and if so what are you doing to fight against those who would want to squelch your voice and even jail you for your faith. Don’t assume it couldn’t happen. Think about after 911 for those of you who can remember patriotism was popular and churches were filled. Don’t wait till a tragedy to desire Christ. Amos 8:11 says "The days are coming," declares the Sovereign LORD, "when I will send a famine through the land-- not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the LORD. Are you prepared and is God’s word hidden in your heart?
PRAYER: Lord I am grateful for being in a country that is currently being tested by those attempting to control us and take away freedoms. Many have been deceived. I pray for those I love who are blinded by the enemy and also for those who hardly ever desire to read God’s word. Create a burning desire to get serious about following you. In Jesus’ name. Amen,
