Putting Away Jesus

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.2 Chronicles 7:14

Seems odd to me as I deflate my inflatable manger scene for the last time in 2021, will our country and its’ people keep putting Jesus away each year after Christmas.

Our nation has drifted so very far yet so many, even believers, are lethargic or complacent and just take it as a grain of salt. Many have compromised the truth in areas such as marriage and protection of life yet our leaders march on neglecting the truth in the word of God this nation was founded upon.

God had special plans for the US yet evil forces and misinformed blew it off. The nation that disses Israel is in trouble mark my word. Don’t keep coasting along following modern culture. God has called us to repentance so brother and sister start 2022 on the right foot guarding your heart from evil and proclaiming in love the truth in the word. Judgment for our actions isn’t far off.

PRAYER: King of kings I exalt you. Oh Lord help mankind see the error of their ways and transform hardened hearts who believe more in modern culture than the word. Oh Father use me to help spread truth. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Help In Confusing Times

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV Bible Gateway
America is standing at a crossroads. Falling far away from the divine plan and favor of Almighty God America has drifted far away from her purposes as ordained by God. It is a confusing time for many. Repentance is needed.
When you get a bright shiny new car it is exciting at first. You wash and wax it, avoid mud puddles on the road, similarly with marriages maybe you get to a point of taking things for granted. Perhaps Americans thought a little sin here a little compromise there what does it matter.

God’s plan for America still stands but until we get on our knees and get serious about honoring our Lord’s divine reason for this country and stop caving to a culture that ignores the word of God we are not going to receive His blessings anymore. It’s not a political issue it is a spiritual issue. Be on your knees and prayer for a turnaround.

PRAYER: Father I am grateful for the heritage of my country yet many who aren’t following Christ have tried to destroy the fabric of our nation and make it unrecognizable. I pray for a great awakening and for freedom to be saved.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Light Versus Darkness

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:5

The Christmas celebration is behind you but the light of Jesus should remain alive and bright not be extinguished like a candle blown out at the Christmas Eve candlelight service.

Light represents good and darkness represents evil and both clearly do exist. Don’t be angry at an evil person but instead be mad at demonic spirits which have indeed captivated people to turn away from the light.

After Christmas you may feel like a let down but Jesus has not gone anywhere. You may take down the lights and the tree but Jesus is alive and his word is alive and active. Keep letting the light of Jesus guide you and keep you out of darkness.

PRAYER: Father I am ever grateful for being able to walk in the light. Satan would like us to put our light out or make it barely flicker but I know all I need to is stay in your word daily. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Where Are You Anchored?

This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary. Hebrews 6:19
When you think of an anchor you most likely think of ships and boats throwing an anchor overboard to keep them stable while in harbor. But what other kind of anchors do you know about?
Jesus is described in scripture as your anchor. Think about that. An anchor is a heavy object holding something in place to prevent it from drifting.
Is God that ‘anchor’ for you or are you still tossed about driven by popular culture and others opinions. Maybe as 2022 approaches is the time to think about how you maybe need to be anchored with Jesus?
PRAYER: My hope and trust are in you Lord. I pray for any who are drifting and have lost their way or really don’t see a need to be anchored. Draw them to you Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Help Me With My Mouth

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14

As another new year approaches and most make resolutions why not consider about resolving to not say anything ugly, gossipy, hurtful, mean, hateful, untrue, you get the point.

So much is said on the subject of words in the Bible. It is something very important because with words we can build up or destroy. Words uttered in haste can destroy friendships and create havoc.

If the tongue could be controlled things would be much better but read James 3 as it takes some work. Do yourself a favor and choose to be kind in 2022 even with people you can not see eye to eye with. Pray instead of spewing forth hate.

PRAYER: It is true no one can tame the tongue and it is full of deadly poison. I want to use my mouth and words to sing praises and show love to others. Give me the strength and wisdom to do just that. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Need Some Calm?

“The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
Exodus 14:14

Just because it was the ‘holly jolly’ days of Christmas doesn’t mean life goes away as well as the issues you are dealing with. On this day supposedly you put your bad stuff on hold 24 hours and reflect on the birth of Christ but then December 25 is history and you remain still in whatever state you were.

Whatever you were dealing with prior to Christmas is still going to need prayer and at times you may feel overwhelmed conjuring up ‘holiday spirit’ when you are broken inside. All the images of perfect Christmases shown by Facebook posts, media and the like may want to make you scream.

Jesus cares about you and the struggles you are going through. He wants you to be able to trust him to work things out for your good. You may have a pretty complex stronghold and it can be overwhelming at times. Today’s verse wants to have you be still and wait and trust. Perhaps 2022 can be a year of new beginnings fully trusting God.

PRAYER: Lord I love celebrating your birth but the man made idealistic things sometimes make me sad. I choose to remember you and the real reason for the festivities. Help me to look for those who need a listening ear or a hug this time of year. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Happy Birthday Jesus!

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given, and the government will be upon His shoulder. and His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace

—Isaiah 9:6

It’s finally here…Christmas Day. Our savior is born and he is wonderful, counselor, almighty, redeemer. Now what?

This day can be a great day for young children anticipating gifts under the tree but why do we give gifts and do the children know? Do you know? This is not Santa Claus’s birthday but the savior of the world.

What does this day mean to you? For many it is painful as expectations are not met or families are at odds with each other’s. For some it reminds them of a family member who is not with them. Try today to really think about the baby Jesus in a manger and came specifically to set us free from our sins. Read the Christmas story in Luke 2 and maybe watch the latest Chosen. Regardless Jesus is Lord and He is to be celebrated.

PRAYER:I worship you lord and thank you for a day when society slows down for just a bit to celebrate you. I pray for those who don’t know you as their savior to maybe be transformed this season in a worship service. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

The Foot Washer

So he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel. John 13:4-5

Do you think you could wash a strangers feet? You may recall the story in the Bible of Jesus’ washing the disciples feet and I have heard of wedding ceremonies where the bride and groom wash each other’s feet as a symbol of humility and service. Of course in Bible Times it was dusty and dirty so typically feet were washed.

Could you humble yourself to allow another to wash your feet? Some people don’t like anyone messing with their feet such as not wanting to go for a pedicure. Feet seem to be an off limits area. Maybe people think their feet are ugly, who knows.

Ponder today if you could submit to another and also allow them to wash your feet. Just think on that for a while.

PRAYER: Lord you have taught us so much about serving others and humility. Help me to be able to not be embarrassed by this area about feet and if the time comes to do it to be humble and grateful to serve another. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Time To Get Serious About Prayer

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Romans 12:12
How often do you wait until you are desperate to pray? The verse for today speaks of being faithful in prayer. What does that mean exactly? It means loyalty.
Are you loyal in going to God in prayer? Do you feel prayer is too complicated or doesn’t work? To develop an active prayer life you have to want to and then do it.
Prayer is simply talking to God. That’s it. You can pour out your heart for serious issues and know scripture as you go along to give you peace. For two years prayer has been needed more than ever. Don’t quit and don’t get into arguments over prayer. Be at peace and let God hear your heart.
PRAYER: Thanks Father that you are a 24-7 God who cares about me and wants to hear from me. Forgive me when I ignore you or only run to you in desperation. You just want to hear from me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

First World Problems

And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.Hebrews 13:16

As we dropped off our pilot son to commute back to Miami recently,  weather issues impacted travel and a smidgin of anxiety started to set in. Pondering this situation made me say this was important yes as he had to get to work to take passengers places but yet it was a ‘first world problem’ or in other words not as bad as others have it in other poorer parts of the world.

Are there situations in your life that have caused stress? Stuck in traffic, car battery dead, power goes out, having to wait for an appointment, not getting classes you need and so forth. Many things can frustrate we Americans as we are used to so many things and often take them for granted.

Besides having a Merry Christmas stop and say thanks for things you may take for granted and not even realize it. Look around and see if there are needs you can meet. Give thanks each day for living in freedom.

PRAYER: Thanks Lord for blessing me with being born just when I was and for having me live just where I do. I don’t take it for granted and I pray for other parts of the world who either don’t know you or who are suffering. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Gift Of Love

It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.1 Corinthians 13:5 NIV Bible Gateway

As I write this my heart is heavy over a friend I have known less than 2 years since moving to Idaho. Her Christmas isn’t turning out as expected as she needs platelets from donors. As I sat and thought of this I thought there is no doubt in my mind I would donate.

Also right now many are grieving after the horrific tornadoes that swept through five states this past week causing loss of life and property. Christmas won’t be so great for those grieving or the ones whose gifts are maybe miles away in someone’s backyard after being carried by tornado winds.

As you sit and get ready for Christmas you may not be so joyful either and that’s okay. Needs are even more emphasized during the month of November and December but needs are around the clock. Have a truly memorable Christmas by sharing with others and not being concerned about getting. Slow down and have your quiet time and decide what is truly important.

PRAYER: Use me Lord to meet a need and open hearts of others to think beyond their own little world. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Run To The Saviour!

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27

The last two years has been a tumultuous time all over the world and I only know how it was and is here in the United States. Pain, confusion, death, separation from family, isolation, zooming and finally a light at the end of the tunnel then poof another variant of the dreaded Covid. When will it end?

The season Of Christmas is to be one of joy but too may feel it is forced merriment. You may feel the pressure of giving and do not take delight in it seeing it as more of an obligation. Credit cards get maxed out. Society says it is time to be happy and go running all over the place to make yourself happy. Is that the answer? How do you decide that you are going to really have joy and enjoy Christmas and its’ true meaning?

I challenge you with Christmas only a few days away to really run to the Saviour. No one is hovering over you barking commands that you have to do such and such so you can control your schedule. Can you sit and relax with your Bible and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee? Don’t make yourself forget what this holiday is all about. Peace on earth, goodwill to men.

PRAYER: Help me Lord to adjust my attitude and expectations over Christmas and be thankful for the little things such as friends, family, good health, warm home, and so much more. I choose to be joyful and find someone to spread joy to. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

NJOYLIF

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.James 1:2-3

Each time I spot a vanity tag, aka personalized license plate,  I get an idea for writing. A few days ago I spotted this one in a parking lot where I live. It is easy as it reads ‘Enjoy Life’ and isn’t that your overall goal?

Life isn’t always enjoyable though when you are encountering situations that create fear, stress, or worry. Today’s scripture verse actually says to ‘Consider it all joy’ , say what?! All, like with everything being bad I am supposed to conjure up a smile and act like it is all okay? Yes that is right.

Things don’t happen by accident and every thing you go through can be used for the purposes of making you more Christlike. I’m all for that aren’t you? Trials help shape you. It is hard to feel joyful when in the midst of something. When you look back on things in your life you can probably see the silver lining. Hang on Hope is on the way and so is joy!

PRAYER: Father it is my desire to consider things joy but at times it is difficult so I need help to break strongholds and implement a joyful countenance as I go into each and every day. I look forward to showing joy in my journey. In Jesus’ name. Amen.NJ

Prying Or Praying?

6Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

Are you a prying person or a praying person? Instead of being nosey do you think to let things go and pray instead?

In today’s verse it mentions the peace of God transcending understanding will keep your heart. Basically if you trust God instead of trying to orchestrate outcomes things will go much better.

Pray about everything yes everything. Many times after you pray you may want to give a situation 24 hours to let the dust settle so to speak. Are you a pray-er or a pry-er? Something to ponder.

PRAYER: Oh how I want to be still and to pray and trust you with situations instead of plunging head first into a man made scenario without a thought of prayer. Still my restless heart and thoughts and help me develop more trust. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

ICU

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Most people know what the acronym ICU stands for of course ‘Intensive Care Unit’ where a patient goes after Emergency treatment to help them hopefully get better and eventually healed.

Some spiritual journeys will take an ICU of sorts say overcoming addictions such as alcohol or pornography. A childhood trauma healing will take some intensive care. A woman who had an abortion will need intervention. Abandonment as a child. Sexual molestation will need loving care and healing. Being set free from an alternate lifestyle also is a process that takes the ICU then some rehab.

God sends his workers into various areas of the harvest field to render aid and care for hurting people. Deception causes many to fall into traps but God and The Holy Spirit bring freedom. Once these individuals are healed they too can continue the process of comforting others. God indeed can use pain to help grow you stronger. Hang on keep running the race towards the cross.

PRAYER: Jesus you are good and your mercies endure forever. I pray for those who are in Spiritual Intensive care units and for the people helping them get victory from their struggles. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Yes, Jesus Is THE Reason For The Season

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14 NIV Bible Gateway

The day is fast approaching where we celebrate the birth of the Christ child.
People seem to ask “Are you ready for Christmas” seemingly placing it in a category of heavy laborious chores.

Little by little plans take shape. Decorations, baking, cards, gifts, gatherings I guess that is much to squeeze into 24 days prior. But today so many start on November 1 almost forgetting Thanksgiving.

The real question is, is your heart ready? Are you ready to say “Happy Birthday Jesus” and celebrate the real reason behind all the gifts and such?

PRAYER: Thanks Lord for being the reason for this season and really every other season too. I pray for those who don’t really have a true relationship with you to find you this Christmas season. Help me to bring brightness to another who is downcast this season. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Good Morning, Afternoon, Evening, Or Anytime!

Rejoice in the LORD always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Philippians 4:4

A certain hotel chain, Hilton, has cheery little messages throughout their properties inside elevators, on note paper and in the case of my breakfast table recently,  on coffee cup sleeves. It is so positive and uplifting and hard not to smile.

Not all days do you probably feel like smiling. Christmas time causes much anxiety for many people. It is easy to hop aboard the holiday treadmill if you are not vigilant to do otherwise. What is this time of year about?

What is truly important at this time of year? Family, maintaining peace, remembering the reason for the season is not Santa and elves but a baby born in a manger who was born to die that we might have life. Keep things in perspective and enjoy this time of year with stillness and gratitude if you can.

PRAYER:O Holy night the stars were brightly shining. What a day of rejoicing it was. I choose to not get caught up in all the merriment that I bypass the true worship of you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Your Legacy

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither- whatever they do prospers. Psalm 1:1-3

On the evening of December 6 I tuned into Daystar Network and watched founder Marcus Lambs Celebration of Life held earlier that day in Dallas, Texas.  It was sad yet joyful. Marcus was led by God to start a single Christian Tv station in early 80’s in Montgomery, Alabama later moving to Dallas where Daystar was launched and went worldwide. He had a definite call on his life and his legacy touched millions.

As I watched his 3 children and his 2 son in laws and 1 daughter in law talk about him it brought joy to my heart. For Marcus, death was not the end, but only the beginning of the seeds of faith he had planted here on Earth.

What kind of legacy are you leaving? This is a question for only you the reader not your spouse, but you alone. Where is your heart? Do you love God’s word and does it shape your life? This is only a question you can answer. Let the Holy Spirit deal with others. Take an honest evaluation of your life, warts and all,  and where does your life with Christ fit in? Is it all encompassing or only saying you were raised to go to church or that you are a member of such and such denomination. All I know is I want my Lord and savior to say upon entering Heaven, “well done thou good and faithful servant”(See Matthew 25:21). I want my children to know mom lived for Jesus.

PRAYER: Oh brother and sister my heart is broken at the passing of Daystar founder Marcus Lamb but I thank you for working through him to tell others about you. I pray for his family whose hearts ache but who know He is with Jesus. Help me be sure that I am letting you guide me day by day and pray for any in my family who have been blinded by Satan or who have lost their first love. Open the hearts of any who never really knew you but maybe thought they did because that is what their denomination taught. Let people be truly set free. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

The Eyes Of A Beggar

Treat others just as you want to be treated. Luke 6:31 CEV Bible Gateway

Inside Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport as I was rushing to get to my gate I came upon a man sitting in the connecting tunnels who looked pretty down trodden. No security had made  him move back outside airport property yet. I didn’t avoid his gaze but looked back and smiled.

What if you were the one sitting there through no fault of your own, bankruptcy occurred and you had no support network to assist you? You don’t want to beg for money but can see no other way. Sure I realize some folks do that to take advantage of others especially this time of year. What would be your course of action? Safety is always a factor but think of those down trodden souls in the Bible who were cast off by society. Jesus loved them.

Actions sometimes speak louder than words but sometimes take more sacrifice such as delivering food to family in need takes time whereas writing a check to Salvation Army or dropping money in their red kettle is easier.  What can you do to help someone in need? Be prepared as they may be around the next corner.

PRAYER: Lord I thank you for opportunities to show kindness to others. Help me not just do it this time of year because there are needs all the time. Make my heart sensitive to others hurts. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

GivingYour Seconds Or Your Best?

And whatsoever ye do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.Colossians 3:17 ASV Bible Gateway

In this season of giving many give to charities as it seems December ‘prompts’ them to. But when you give do you give from your heart and give your best or grudgingly pass on old used clothes to Goodwill or give canned goods you would never use? Something to think about.

Think about what it means to give your very best. Not wanting to do this is sort of self centered aka selfish. Ouch. Not me Lord I am not selfish.

I challenge each of you reading to do something nice for someone this December and continue doing stuff the other 11 months. When you do good deeds be silent about it as your true reward is from God.

PRAYER: Jesus I love you and I know this time of year needs are emphasized more than other times. I also am aware of scams that try to take advantage of the unsuspecting. Show me a need I can meet and help me remember all that I have belongs to you anyway. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Ho, Ho, Ho, No!

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11

Okay ladies and gentlemen how are you doing on our first ‘sort of’ opened Christmas since 2019? By this I mean have you managed to stay calm and be able to not get into a rut of thinking you had to do all the events offered to the public. If anything have you scheduled a Christmas Eve service to attend?

Today’s verse basically sums up what Christmas is all about. Not Santa, not reindeer, not blowing your diet, not doing cards, not buying gifts but it is pure, plain, and simple. It is about the birth of the Christ Child. That is it. But that is HUGE!

If you are too focused on merriment and everything else and especially if you have children, why not get a play manger scene to give to them and be sure to tell about the Christmas story. A wonderful worthy event you can attend is the nationwide release of the Fathom event The Chosen:The Messengers. I have included a link below for info and tickets. Purpose in your heart to not compare to others this time of year. Stay within your budget. And keep Bible reading and prayer alive!

PRAYER: Lord today and every day is your day. Many don’t really know you and don’t have a real relationship where they desire you daily. As the day of your birth celebration approaches help me to shine your light to those around me who may be having a hard time. Help me let go of hurts, snubs, anger, un-forgiveness  and share love. Help bring someone across my path who needs a touch from you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Hazards Of A Hurried Spirit

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.Proverbs 3:5-6

Have you ever just not been able to wait for something and take action and it backfires big time? This usually occurs when you are focusing more on the world than on God.

Think about the disastrous consequences of not waiting in scripture. Sarah and Abraham comes to mind when God told them they would have a son at their old age and impatience got them in a real pickle so to speak. The story is found in Genesis Chapter 12.

When you get in too much of a hurry you can create problems and ruin things. Waiting is a spiritual discipline crucial to following the leading of the Lord. Psalm 27:14 says “Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.”  Give God your hurried spirit and start on the journey learning to be still and not rush into things.

PRAYER: Lord I give you my life and any issues I have with messing things up because of getting in too big a hurry. Help me to slow down and think things through. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

The Coming Last Days?

But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.2 Timothy 3:1-5

Today’s verse sounds like our conditions today in 2021. Even though there may be unrest and Covid ravaging the earth still no man knows when Christ will return.

If you are a follower of Jesus you are not to be frightened but clearly expectant of what is to come. Many old testament prophecies are being fulfilled and it makes a person wonder what is coming.

Fear not my friends. Continue getting to know Christ better by reading his word daily. Be on your guard against Satan’s tricks to lie and deceive. Pray for those you know who don’t know Christ. Be an example and let the love of Christ flow through you.

PRAYER: Father I thank you that I am not unaware of the enemy trying to take my attention off the kingdom of Heaven and start to fear. I have no fear. I pray for those who can’t see the signs in the lawlessness that is seemingly increasing. Use me Lord to spread good news. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

I Hate Them..:I Mean Hate😪🤐😢

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”John 13:34-35 NIV Bible Gateway

Recently I heard a person I thought was a believer say they hated so and so naming a political figure then emphasized the word hate once again. I was taken aback. “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone” you know.(John 8:7).

So I zipped my lips and started changing the conversation as best I could trying to turn it back to loving ALL people even those we disagree with. These present days we live in are filled with anger, lies, deceit, trickery, re-education, ‘experts’, haters, back biters, and so much more. As a believer it is your job to set the tone.

I feel if we truly loved like Christ loved we might see changes in our world situation. Spiritual warfare is in full swing and you are not to be partakers of evil but to be different and set apart. For instance, it may be super difficult to pray for a person who is trying to destroy freedom but we have to.

PRAYER: Lord hate is a pretty strong word to just throw around flippantly and may I never be guilty of saying I hate someone. I am told to love like you love and sometimes it is difficult but give me strength to break any stronghold of hate. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

A Day That Will Live In Infamy

“Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.”1 Peter 4:12

If you are blessed to be a natural born citizen of the US or a legal immigrant you know the feeling of freedom and what it costs. Many men and women have given their lives in wars to secure freedom.

The few remaining survivors who were on the island that horrific day can attest to the surprise and shock of this Sunday attack. This day launched the US into World War 2. Being unprepared for the carnage from this surprise attack reminds me of attacks from Satan who I guess you could say was working through the Japanese soldiers that day to disable American forces in the Pacific.

“Be on your guard” it says in 1 Peter 5:8 “for the enemy of your soul prowls around like a roaring lion seeking someone to destroy.”Don’t be caught blindsided. Stay alert. Stay in tune with God through reading of scripture. On this solemn day of remembrance as you go about your Christmas shopping take a moment to remember the sacrifices of the US military who keep our nation free.

PRAYER: Jesus just knowing you are with me brings me great delight. I pray for anyone who is still alive who survived that awful day on Pearl Harbor. Help me never return hate for hate but to pray lifting up Holy Hands to praise your name. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Say Something Kind Or Nothing At All

But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. 2 Timothy 2:16 KJV Bible Gateway

During my time of prayer I came across this one simple verse above pretty self explanatory. Basically shush unless what you are about to say brings value.

To lead a life where you have control over this type of speaking it is necessary to stay in the word and not ‘the world’. Once you asked Jesus into your heart, you  are a child of the most high sent here to bring him glory and be a witness. You can’t expect to have one foot in the world and the other in the kingdom.

Peace and joy comes when following Christ. You exercise your senses to godliness and not to the gossip, worldly news, and foul speech. This Christmas season don’t try to jump on the treadmill of activity but be still. Spend time in the word. Decide you want to speak kind and encouraging words. Now go and rest in the Lord.

PRAYER: Lord I come to you this day and thank you for the Holy Spirit which brings conviction. Help me use my words to bless and not curse. In Jesus’ name. Amen. #Biblegatewayblogger

Pruned Lately?

I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. John 15:1-2

Pruning is a necessary thing for gardeners to do if they expect their trees and bushes to flourish. Often timed after being pruned they look real pathetic almost like really those will be nice again?

In your spiritual life you also receive pruning to help you grow better in your walk with Christ. At time’s you may say “why God do I have to go through this painful process” while not literally being cut with shears as you do with trees, things are taken away from you or cut from your life that are of no benefit in growing into a mature follower of Christ.

The pruning could be getting rid of wrong friends leading you into a sinful lifestyle. It could be the difficult time of waiting and trusting God for Christ centered friends while your heart is aching in loneliness. It could be stopping bad spending habits and trusting God with your finances. It could be leaving a dead church for one alive in the spirit. Whatever the case once the finished product from this pruning emerges it will be wonderful. Have faith.

PRAYER: Lord I don’t understand why I have to give up so much or wait so long for things you are preparing for me so you can use me better. I trust you now and want strength to hang on in this process. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

The Costly Price Of Controversies

If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but is coming to an end. Proverbs 6:16-19

I am so worn out over all the controversies, supposedly all factual,  swirling around about Covid. This man made bio virus originating from China has wreaked complete havoc on our nation and the world as well as friends and family with opposing views. If ever Satan were doing a happy dance it is now.

What are we to do brother and sister? It is likely some families have had tremendous division over this during Thanksgiving. So many ‘experts’ attempting to push their opinions. On top of that a government attempting to force things on their citizens. Oh how we need the Lord to intervene.

Right now purpose in your heart you will not add to the division and pray for those you differ with. Continue lifting up the medical community and others who are often disrespected because of ‘factual news’ so to speak. Above all try to keep the peace with friends, neighbors, and family. Just keep praying. God is in control.

PRAYER: Father these past couple years have been heart breaking. I wonder what is happening why did Satan have to create so much fear and division. I pray for healing and for love to take over. Help me not say anything unless it brings glory to you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Your Junk Folder

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. Hebrews 12:1
I was recently going through my digital junk folders on all my devices. Clutter can sure accumulate to the point of overwhelming you.
How is your day to day life? Is it overtaken by ‘junk’ that is unnecessary and needs to be purged? Many times we allow so much to seem urgent and get piled up with many unimportant details and notes.
Clutter in life can often make you miss out on all God has for you. Many ‘voices’ vie for attention and unless you can separate the necessary from the junk your heart can be weighed down. Are you ready for a Jesus overhaul letting go of things holding you back?
PRAYER: Help me Lord to recognize bad junk in my life that holds me back from a closer more intimate relationship with you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Not Everyone Feels Joy!

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!Philippians 4:4

This time of year is for many forced happiness of sorts. On top of the normal sadness there are the family restrictions of Covid that keep people at arms length. I for one will be thrilled to see Covid blown into a big huge abyss as I am sure may of you can attest to. It has caused death, confusion, heartache, separation, isolation sounds like stuff right out of Satan’s playbook.

As you get ready to celebrate Christmas you don’t have to get worked up and frazzled trying to meet expectations of parties, gifts, cards, lunches out, drop ins, etc etc. Try to wind things back and take a breath. I know many who are caretakers of a family member and they really can’t abandon them but come to terms with your limitations. Everything does not have to meet up to Hallmark standards or trying to be perfect. Chill and be still, speaking to myself too.

What do you really have to do? Think that over. Pray, be still, normal life. Your cards can be sent out in January as New Years greetings as that takes some pressure off. I truly do not think the Christ child wanted us all frazzled on his birthday. Ponder that and go have a peace break.

PRAYER: Lord each year at this time it seems life gets on a treadmill of sorts which I feel in many ways we can alleviate stress by taking time for what is truly important. Get outside and get some fresh air and exercise. Help me relax and be still and try to remember to pursue the joy of the Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Is It Well With Your Soul?

Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.Philippians 4:9 NIV Bible Gateway

How are things lately? Any thing troubling you or getting you down? Sometimes when something happens to upset you it is time to chill and allow Holy Spirit to give you rest.

Go get your Bible and look up verses on peace or read Psalm 23 out loud or the Lord’s Prayer and really think about what the words are saying.

Be still. Don’t overreact. Do something nice for a friend or family member. Smile. Pray. Relax. Breathe in. Take a walk if you are able. Put on some praise music. Tell God you love Him.

PRAYER: Your mercies never come to an end Lord. You are there for me when others have failed me or let me down. You help me keep charging on. Thank you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
