Thanksgiving was just celebrated yet I wonder how many stopped to realize the true meaning. Not football and tons of food, but the sacrifices the brave Pilgrims made to come to this new land.
Often starting in early November the big frenzy commences, to have the perfect holiday seasons, but do you ever stop and say “why?” or go right on like the crowd shopping till you are crazy and trying to make it like a Hallmark holiday?
Be still. Have peace. Take time to just rest. Stay out of crowds(Covid rules want you to anyway). Don’t go to every festival there is and don’t feel like you just have to have a gathering. As for the cards do like I do and send New Years cards in mid January which takes part of the pressure off. Each year I ask myself “Is this really what Jesus wants or expects and what does it have to do with a savior born in a manger to save the world.”
PRAYER: Joy to the world the savior reigns, let Earth and Heaven rejoice. Oh Lord many are downcast these two months while others walk around charging ahead and charging on their credit cards to have Christmas. Help me Lord to be still and not fall into the trap of commercialism as I try to maintain peace and worship throughout a world that is aching for you whether they realize it or not. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
My best friend and I wait until AFTER Christmas to go out to eat and exchange gifts. It works for us. For several years, she had a busy Christmas season with her family and we decided to wait until after the holiday. It works for us. No stress and no worry.
