Not Of This World

I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth. John 14:17-19

You as a believer are in this world but not of this world meaning you are set apart and different and are not to blend in with the darkness but are to shine for Jesus. The present culture tries to entice you into doing things that frankly would be hard to justify using the Bible as your guide. You have to set a standard of conduct.

Saying all this doesn’t mean to isolate yourself from those people who are not living for Christ because they need to hear the truth and who is going to share it unless a believer infiltrates the ranks so to speak. Jesus mingled with sinners. And all of us are sinners.

Many people think they aren’t ‘that bad’ but if you are lusting after the flesh, caught up in sexual sin or perversion of any kind, bowing at the altar of money such as a with a gambling addiction, telling half truths aka lying, into porn of any kind, then maybe it is time for a ‘come to Jesus’ moment to ask Him to help you break strongholds that have taken you captive. He is only a prayer away.

PRAYER: Everyone is born with a conscience that guides them to stay on a right path and a holy path but at times temptations of the flesh lure them away. Keep me Lord from stumbling and help me not neglect my daily quiet time and study of your word. Draw me each day to the foot of the cross. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
