This Is My Country

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1

Back in junior high I was in a choir that sang the song ‘This is My Country’ and it’s lyrics have stuck with me to this day. Freedom is a priceless commodity here in these United States and as the late 40th President Ronald Reagan said “freedom is only one generation from extinction” and that is not a statement to be taken lightly. Evil men and women are always lurking to try to steal the American dream.

On this day in 1941 the Japanese did a surprise attack on the naval fleet at Pearl Harbor thus provoking the US into World War 2 which had begun in 1939. If we are not on guard daily as citizens and a country, this could in fact happen again.( Remember the Twin Towers on 1 September 2001.) Obviously not from the Japanese but anti American forces who despise liberty, truth, Christianity, and freedom.

What can you do? Pray for your leaders. Don’t hate those you disagree with or who are doing evil but pray the Holy Spirit would grab their hearts and transform them. Demonic forces are behind the evil not a human man. Don’t wish evil on anyone but pray for God to do His work. Speak up when you see something not right. Above all thank the Lord daily for your gift of freedom and for the ‘greatest generation’ who answered the call to protect and defend our country in World War 2 and for those service members still serving.

PRAYER: Thank you for freedom. I lift up our President to you and His cabinet as they daily make crucial decisions for our nation. I pray for morality to return to this land. I pray for God to be first place in all areas of government. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

  1. Again, you make good points on how we should conduct ourselves. I years when no mention seemed to be made of Pearl Harbor on the anniversary of the invasion. I have noticed a change since 9/11.
    Peace and blessings.
