FACEBOOK VERSUS HIS BOOK

How much time do you spend social networking each day? For many it can be an obsession and addiction. It would not surprise me if there were addiction support groups for this. Especially the younger generation is so 'connected' that they may find it hard not to grab that electronic device
before heading out for the day. Sometimes we need to take a technology break. Just give it a rest and try taking a walk without music blaring in your ears or without the cell phone as your lifeline.

Back to FACEBOOK. It can get to be real time waster stealing time away from more important things like reading The Bible, spending  non electronic  time with friends or enjoying your family. Take a break from Facebook and a break with Jesus. If not careful, Facebook can get to be prying and hurtful.  I mean to get 'defriended'   even the word alone sounds awful. And when it happens it kind of hurts. That is why you need a life beyond this make believe social medium. It is super for connecting with long lost and old friends. I use mine for this daily blog. But if left unchecked it can have you sitting for hours playing Facebook games and getting nothing else done. Do you give as much time to knowing the Lord as to knowing your FACEBOOK friend status for the day? Maybe it is time to look at what you are doing and put this in proper perspective.

It has been fun to connect with friends and family but my point is do you spend more time 'connecting' than you do with the Lord. Just something to ponder. Each person has to search their own heart. Proverbs 18:24 says regarding friends "A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother."

Proverbs 3:5-6 says "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

Give the Lord the first part of your day. Try making that a habit before checking the status of your friends on your social network. Jesus is your true friend.

The Bible says In Matthew 6:21 that "where your treasure is there will your heart be also". Be honest and ask yourself if you are spending too much time social networking. I would challenge you to put God above Facebook and when you do use it make sure it brings glory to Him. Just some things to think about and perhaps make some needed adjustments.

PRAYER: I want my first passion and priority to be you Lord.   Forgive me when I waste time on social networking and hardly spend anytime with you. I want that to change. Give me strength to resist spending too much time on the computer. In Jesus Name. Amen!
