Positive Or Negative-Your Choice

 

“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the Bones.” Proverbs 17:22

What kind of people do you like to associate with? Positive and upbeat or negative Debbie Downer types? I am pretty sure most people would answer positive. 

It is necessary to stay delighted in order to be positive and hopeful. You can be a pit dweller feeding on the negative aspects of life or you can choose to be lifted above it all and think looking up. 

Wherever you find yourself in this spectrum what is the point of your gloom anyway? By reading God’s word daily you can be affirmative thinking front and center. Make a list of positive things in your life and let go of negativity. 

PRAYER: Lord help me each day remind myself of all you have done for me. Bring to mind my many blessings. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Give Up Your ‘Right’ To Be Angry

 

Be angry without sinning. Don’t let the sun set on your anger.Ephesians 4:26 CEB Bible Gateway

Yes Christian writers do get angry and they do have ups and downs. Satan loves to try to get us to explode at our spouse or an innocent telemarketer or even a child. Anger is a human reaction that does produce the righteousness God desires it says in James 1:20. 

No one really has a right to be angry but when that emotion rises to the surface recognize it and deal with it. Anger can lead to bad consequences if not nipped in the bud. 

Are you dealing with anger right now? Have you stopped to talk to God. Even Jesus felt that emotion. Stop, breathe, give thanks for good things, and ask God to help you navigate your feelings. 

PRAYER: Help me Lord to give my negative emotions to you. To focus on the good and not the bad. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Don’t Poke Jesus In The Eye

 

Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?Romans 2:4 NIV Bible Gateway

I was relaying to a friend about Christian writing and that it is necessary to bring hope to people not condemnation if you are trying to win them to the Lord. Jesus would say “sin no more” but not poke you in the eye.

It is easy to find fault but Jesus wants people to be instilled with hope that no matter how raunchy and low down their sin He is still God and loves them and can set them free.

Are you poking anyone in the eye even if only in your thinking? Love wins people not slapping them around.

PRAYER: Father I have been guilty of wrongful judgment and remember that all of us have sinned. Help me be kind and teach me to reach out to those I would rather not deal with. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Start Each Day With A Clean Page

 

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.Matthew 6:34

Do you carry problems with you into the next day or do you make a concerted effort to begin anew leaving the old behind to start fresh? 

It takes discipline to learn to control thinking especially if you tend to hang on to things seemingly thinking your concern will speed things along. It is always best to start out bringing nothing with you into the new day. Kind of like an artist easel where the old page is torn off and replaced with a clean piece of sketch paper.

Let go of expectations, grudges, second guessing, resentment, ill will, bad thoughts and ask God to give you fresh thinking for a new day. 

PRAYER: Today I want to start things fresh Lord not dragging my old junk onto the new day. Help me. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Do You Need Rest?

 

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 NIV Bible Gateway 

Have you ever woken up and it seems immediately the enemy starts to attack you as he knows your weak points. It happened to me recently and it is a feeling hard to describe but you know God loves you and you have much to be grateful for but an issue you have continued to pray for is still hanging over you and you are weary. 

Hang on friend. God is still working and He is in the business of deliverance and miracles. 

First and foremost is to get your focus off problems and onto your blessings. Satan has a way of trying to get you thinking the wrong way. Continue praising God even in storms of life and wait and see what happens. 

PRAYER: I thank you Lord for the promises in your word. I choose to trust in you. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

With A Click You Are No Longer Relevant

 

Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life.Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. John 6:35 NIV Bible Gateway 

In the Mark Wahlberg movie Arthur The King he had a line that I used for today's title. A click of the mouse, hitting delete and so forth. None of that matters to God. Mankind does not determine your true destiny. 

Whatever you are going through God is greater. If you focus on making God your top priority forgetting your human issues and trust God things will go better. Be still. 

Court battles, family tension, kicked under bus by a friend, medical diagnoses you continue to press in and trust God, don’t get mad at Him. Focus on Him, not the daily news and stress in the world. Remember God is in control. 

PRAYER: Lord God Heavenly Father thank you that you alone are above all things and work things to your good. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

You Can’t Drag People To The Crosd

No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.” John 6:44

Only the Holy Spirit can convict people of their need for Him. You as a follower of Christ can pray and plant ‘seeds’ so to speak but it is not up to you. 

What have you been waiting for? Maybe a lost wandering child to return to his first love? Perhaps a chance to ask forgiveness for something? 

God knows your needs and desires. His heart is broken too over the hurt in your life. Continue to be still and not get ahead of God. 

PRAYER: Lord I thank you for your plans for my life and for the lives of those I pray for. Your plans are unfathomable. Help me be still as I wait for answers to prayer. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

I’ve Got To Find My Kids!

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.Isaiah 53:6-8

Anyone who is a parent or grandparent knows the sick feeling you get in your stomach when you can’t find your children. It might be on the playground where they have slipped behind some equipment and you lost sight of them. 

Did you know God feels that way about all His children when they wander off? You love them but He loves them more. Many times a child or young adult may have gotten into mischief due to selection of wrong friends. Keep praying. 

There is an old hymn where the lyrics say “Prone to wander Lord I feel it, prone to leave the God I love” and isn’t that the truth. It isn’t hard to get caught up into trouble. Keep praying for a hedge of protection around those you are praying for. 

PRAYER: Keep me in the safety of your wings oh Lord and those I know who have wandered away. I know you are calling them, help them listen. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Get Off my High Horse And Start Showing Love

But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,1 Peter 3:15

There are many worthy causes to boycott or ‘give a piece of your mind’ to but do you really need to take on every Goliath in society? Most recently I was so upset by the ungodly depiction of the Lord’s supper at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics I refused to watch. Then I had an epiphany and realized it was not athletes fault and several God honoring athletes were publicly using this platform to speak about Christ. 

You can write letters, refuse to patronize a business that is blatantly going in the face of your values, try to get laws changed but the best thing is to pray. Take the high road.  Another thing is when you disagree with something doesn’t mean you are hateful it simply means you are standing for truth. 

Our culture is slapping Biblical values in the face trying to honor Baal more than God. Satan has confused the masses into not even knowing what gender they are. Geez. God made men and he made women. Period. Boys and girls. Period. Believers have to stand strong against the evil seeping into society. Oh to have the Ten Commandments posted again. I am posting one final scripture to ponder. “Behold, you trust in deceptive words to no avail. Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, make offerings to Baal, and go after other gods that you have not known, and then come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, ‘We are delivered!’—only to go on doing all these abominations? (Jeremiah 7:8-10)

PRAYER: Oh for a thousand tongues to sing my great redeemers praise! Oh father you are magnificent and don’t desire anyone to perish yet our world seeks to remove you. Father help any confused souls and place people in their path to be witnesses to the truth. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

With Thanksgiving?

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.Philippians 4:6-7

With Thanksgiving for everything, you can’t be serious can you? Yes with Thanksgiving period that is what scripture says. 

Something bad or tragic often has a silver lining. You are to give thanks and trust God in the details of what it is you are praying for. Yes it is hard but produces good fruit. Some might think you are nuts but trust God. 

Whatever it is you are waiting for my friend thank God for allowing it in your life to hone your spiritual disciplines. Often you do look back and go “ah ha” that is why I went through that. Trust Him. 

PRAYER: Lord I thank you for the word of God which many who don’t know you don’t understand because it is spiritually revealed. Help use me to be salt and light around me and keep me still while I wait. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Anger Gets You No Where

 

Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. James 1:19-20 NIV Bible Gateway

  

Recently I was enjoying a quiet day, gentle breeze and my iced latte at an outdoor coffee shop/nursery  when a very angry lady came in the gate ranting and screaming to someone on her phone. At first I thought she had mental disorder then realized she was just livid over something. 

It brought to mind the way people should be treated in general. Even when taking a stand in society against moral failure your letter to the government official  or whomever it is addressed to should not be full of anger and hatred or even preaching for that matter but should be attempting to make logical sensible points. 

If it is about a moral thing, only the righteous Bible believers will be understanding things. Not every ‘church goer’ thinks everything is sinful. Point being is to be kind and not raging. Even offer to pray for the person. 

PRAYER: Lord your love for mankind amazes me even nowadays when people are trying to be a girl when born a boy or do something clearly against the Word. Help me Lord just keep praying. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

F Words Galore

Bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. Luke 6:38

This title got you to look right? Let’s think of some F words. 

Fantastic. Fabulous. Favor. Favorite. Fine. Fun loving. Those kind of F words are what I want you to dwell on. F words that build up not separate. 

It is so easy to belittle someone even if you don’t verbalize it you may be tearing someone down in your thoughts. Do not do that! Try to wake up each day determined to turn a bad situation around. To love and be kind even to those who make it difficult to do so. Now go have a fabulous day. 

PRAYER: Thank you Lord for allowing me to enjoy freedom. I pray for any people who are so disgruntled peace eludes them. Guard my heart to keep me from slipping. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Take A Chill Pill And Enjoy The Music

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters. Colossians 3:23 NIV Bible Gateway

Recently I was on hold for about 90 minutes with an airline trying to get something squared away on an upcoming trip. I relaxed tried to give it to God and just listened to their very nice music and occasional announcements. Finally a male voice came on. Hallelujah. 

My chill pill worked. It was not this agents fault I had to wait as many things were disrupting travel and lots of passengers were probably on hold waiting some not being as patient or kind as I was. I used to be one of those phone agents so I know it is necessary to smile with your voice. 

When you are the customer, do you smile with your voice? If not just imagine the person were your son or daughter and how would you like others to treat them?You are a witness wherever you are and believe me kind people get noticed. Do all your work just like you were taking care of Jesus. Now go enjoy the rest of your day and be nice. 

PRAYER: Lord I thank you for being able to relax and just trust you with things. Breathe in praising you breathe out problems. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Never Say Never

 

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.Isaiah 40:31

Recently I saw one of my favorite kid movies that being ‘American Tail’ along with my oldest granddaughter. Such a touching movie with great soundtrack one of the best being my title today. 

In the 2024 Summer Olympics in sort of an uncomfortable moment, a US Ladies gymnast went from 5th to the podium with bronze (3rd)but consequently the cheering gymnast from another country who thought she was 3rd, after the scoring error was in shock and tears. So even when you think it is final it may not be. Sometimes good sometimes bad. 

Don’t give up on dreams and keep going even when you feel there isn’t a chance. Parents keep encouraging your children. I love underdog stories and speaking of underdogs watch the movie ‘American Underdog’ sometime. The heartwarming story of football great Kurt Warner. Another great film is ‘Invincible’ about an ordinary man who goes to an open try out for Philadelphia Eagles and makes it. You don’t have to like sports to get something out of both these movies.  Trust me check them out. 

PRAYER: Lord God thank you for helping me press on in the tasks of life. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Forgive And Forget And Move On

If I had harbored sin in my heart,[ a] the Lord would not have listened. Psalm 66:18 NET

Have you had a hard time forgiving someone about something and are hanging on to sin ‘remnants’ of the past to rub in someone’s face? How do you expect to be healed, free, and at peace if you still harbor unforgiveness against a friend or family member?

If you continue holding a grudge or expecting something to go away that is way in the past you are setting yourself up for stress, health problems and separation from those close to you. 

In 1 Corinthians 13 known as the ‘love chapter’ it says in verse 5 love does not keep a record of wrongs. Hmmm. Ponder that. What is the point of rehashing issues in the past that are long gone. Make amends, forgive, and move on. 

PRAYER: I praise you Lord for redemption, for grace, for mercy. Help me release anything I may be holding against someone. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

In The Midst Hang On To Him

 

And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 1 Peter 5:10 NIV Bible gateway

What are you battling my friend? In the midst of the heartache, hurt, brokenness, loneliness, failure, loss and rejection don’t throw your faith in God under the bus. The time you need Him the most is in the center of trials. 

I don’t know why it is but trials seem to open your eyes to reality and show you the need for a redeemer. Maybe you have gotten in with the wrong group of people who want nothing to do with Jesus or the Bible. You probably know what you need to do but need strength and courage. 

These days we are in, are certainly not a walk in the park. You need to make your focus the Bible and not the nightly news. Let the Bible shape your opinion and be your  ‘anchor’ man. Whatever you are dealing with call on God. He forgives and gives second chances. 

PRAYER: Show me the path I should walk. Shut the doors you don’t want me walking through. Help me step away from sin and evil and run hard to find your goodness and mercy. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Favor, Blessing, Not Luck

 

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.Proverbs 3:3-4

I bristle when I hear the word luck. Luck is chance or random events and I choose to instead lean toward God’s favor or blessing. 

For instance someone might say you were sure lucky to be bumped to first class. I would respond it was the favor of God. The word luck itself is not inherently bad but it impliesa gamble of sorts. As a believer I choose to think a person receives blessings. 

Oh Becky that is so ridiculous after all there is a children’s animated feature entitled Luck released in 2022 where this girl’s luck is always bad. I would encourage parents try to say things more positive such as “You sure are blessed!” Sure it is a cute little movie what harm can be done? Our children and grandchildren’s minds are being shaped by this culture so why not try to counter attack culture with God blessing them? 

PRAYER: Father it isn’t luck that has gotten me to where I am. It is the hand of God, I know that. Help any one who doubts start practicing saying blessed instead of lucky. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Is God’s Love Visible In Your Life?

For the weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. In the contrary they have power to demolish strongholds. 2 Corinthians 10:4

I walk into a coffee shop and see a male barista with black fingernails. Maybe at the Y in Zumba I  encounter a young lady fully tattooed full of piercings. Perhaps it is a raging leftist at a pro life rally up in my face screaming.

I don’t know what you encounter day to day but God wants us to love and not judge. You win people to the Lord by being kind. You speak the truth in love.

Today there is the mentality in the culture if you don’t completely accept someone then you hate them. That is a lie being perpetrated by the enemy and also splitting many families. Press on and show love and pray for open doors to speak truth.

PRAYER: Today father I choose to smile and be kind. I choose to ignore hurts and wrongs and focus on bringing glory to you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Don’t Argue Your Point

Do everything without complaining and arguing. Philippians 2:14

In this atmosphere of political and social unrest it may be easy to give someone a piece of your mind mostly through social media. Don’t do it my friend. Arguing won’t change anything except getting you angry. Chill. What does it matter anyway?

A Christian should be loving, kind, and humble. You can agree to disagree then move on. Families and friends have split over debates over proving a point and you know who is happy? Satan. 

Instead of feuding stand still and pray. God is the victor of all things in the end. 

PRAYER: Father the only person I want to please is you Lord so help me be still when humanly I feel like arguing. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

The Greatest Transformer

 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!2Corinthians 5:17

Children seem to go for transformer toys and movies and even back when my sons were children they had McDonalds transformer toys resembling a hamburger or fries in Happy meals. I kept them.

Do you realize who the greatest transformer of all time is? His name is Jesus Christ. Men mock him. The Olympic Games spit in His face. Throughout time evil people and judges have tried to legislate him out of existence making their own rules to overrule the Bible. Dangerous territory my friend.

The greatest transformation of all is when a person repents and accepts Jesus as Lord and desires to live for Him unashamedly. Have you made that decision to allow Christ to transform you? You might say but I was baptized as a baby, or I was confirmed, or I am such and such a denomination and always attended church. That’s good but have you made Jesus Lord of your life? Ponder that.

PRAYER: Today I thank you for the word of God that I yearn for daily. I pray for any people who don’t hunger for your truth. I pray for ministers, priests, and rabbi’s not sharing the gospel to start doing it with a Holy Passion. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Legacy Of Laughter

 

A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: But a broken spirit drieth the bones. Proverbs 17:22

Recently there was a special on TV about the late comedian Bob Newhart entitled what my title is. What will you be remembered for? Laughter, complaining, stirring the pot politically and angering people, being a godly person who thinks of others first?

Everyone wants to leave a good legacy. You do the best you can to make your imprint on your family and your world. If you can laugh while you are enjoying life it helps lift spirits.

Laughter is indeed a gift that helps heal, bring joy, lift spirits, and so much more. A good sense of humor is a terrific asset in life. Grumpy people don’t make friends well. Do your best to let your legacy be one of a joyful spirit.

PRAYER: Thanks Lord for helping me laugh when I would rather cry. Thanks for using me to help others laugh. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

They Know Not What They Do

 

Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." And they divided up His garments by casting lots.Luke 23:34

There was Jesus being beaten to a pulp bloodied beyond recognition drug through the streets yet as He says to God His Father to forgive them. He is being brutally beat up yet asks God forgive them. Wow. 

Some people today appear to not know what they are doing either. When you see sin on display but yet turn your head what does that say to others? You point a finger at others three are pointed back at you but it is necessary to not become numb to the crumbling of our Christian society. 

Speak up against evil whenever you have a chance whether in the public square, the school house, and yes maybe even in church. Satan prowls around like a roaring lion seeking who he will destroy it says in 1 Peter 5:8. Don’t let this happen on your watch. Stand firm. 

PRAYER: I need you Lord. Everyone needs you they just don’t know it. Even people who once cried out to you now have turned their back on you. Help those blinded by Satan have their eyes opened again. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Satan Has Snatched The Word From Many

 Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts so that they may not believe and be saved. Luke 8:12

A person would have to have a pretty seared hardened heart to not recognize some things as evil. Certain things just aren’t right. Even deep down many of those participating in evil practices know what is right and wrong but they are sort of caught in demonic quick sand.

God’s agenda will one day rise above the evil and wickedness in our world today. When drag queens put on a display mocking the Lord’s Supper which was an immoral display on international TV during the Olympic Opening Ceremony and shortly after the lights went out in Paris. Coincidence?

The culture has been indoctrinated to accept much of the sin we are seeing. Sinners can be set free. The enemy has lied about God’s creation being male and female. Sadly society has been gullible and believes this nonsense. God is not happy but He is patient for a time not wanting any to perish. Where is your heart today? Are you confused? Talk to God and cry out for healing for our world.

PRAYER: Help me Lord pray, vote, speak words of faith, and to guard my heart so I am not deceived. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Jesus Is The Way

 

There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death. Proverbs 14:12

Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life it says in John 14:6. To stay on the right path and avoid pitfalls of Satan and evil follow the right way leading to Jesus. 

There is a progression of evil that if a believer doesn’t stay in the word and in prayer and listens to voices of the world he or she can easily slide into a pattern of mocking God which is a dangerous place to be. 

Run hard after God. Satan has all sorts of hooks out trying to trip up believers because non believers he already has. Do you know deep down you need to be back in right standing with God and want to but there seems to be something blocking you? Right now throw off any weights and sins dragging you away from a right relationship with Jesus. Cry out to Him he is ready to welcome you with open arms. Time to tell Satan to take a hike. 

PRAYER: My heart breaks for those that Satan has lied to and who now have no passion to follow God. Father my prayer is for these individuals to recognize evil and run far and fast from it before they are gobbled up. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Yes You Can! Charge On!

 Jesus replied, “Why do you say ‘if you can’? Anything is possible for someone who has faith!”Mark 9:23 CEV Bible Gateway

 

To anyone who was ever told no, keep going it only takes one yes to change your life -AGT (Americas Got Talent) contestant

 

This is such a true statement. Even my own husband was told by a teacher or counselor he wouldn’t make it and he made it to Full Colonel in the United States Army. Your future is in God’s hands. 

This story is not to glorify his success but to tell anyone out there who was not affirmed as a child and made to feel special you can do great things if you make your mind up. Don’t listen to nay sayers. God made you special and you are not junk just remember that. 

Don’t let negative people hold you back. Make up your mind to do good and to run your race to win and you will be successful. Yes you can! 

PRAYER: Lord I love you and thank you for giving me hope, joy, peace and so much more. When my heart hurts thank you for being my comforter. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

You Matter To God

 

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.Psalm 139:14

Do you ever feel like how on Earth could I matter to God. You may put yourself down and feel like you can’t possibly make a difference in the world but you can. 

Satan lies  making you feel that you can’t possibly have anything to share to help anyone but you DO! Start today telling yourself that God does love you. 

You are good, special, loved, needed, important and are here on Earth to share joy with others. Seize the day! 

PRAYER: Help me Lord to not put myself down. I know I matter to you and to others. I choose to run with my eyes on Jesus and not this world. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Focus On The Positive

Who would you rather hang out with Debbie Downer or someone happy, prayerful, and positive? It does not take much effort to have a negative attitude about things. I choose to believe in positivity how about you? 

Try to believe the best about things and people and don’t take your rant to social media or they simply fuels the fire of discontent.

Go on prayer walks around areas you hope to see change. Keep believing. Don’t engage in debates with negative people trying to prove a point but stay peaceful. Talk to God instead. 

PRAYER: Father give me the ability to be sunshine in the storms of life. Help me to help raise spirits that are down and to pray for those who can’t seem to be happy about anything. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Breaking News!

 

For God is not a God of disorder but of peace—as in all the congregations of the Lord’s people.1Corinthians 14:33

When you are on your computer or phone and a message pops up do you stop what you are doing and click over to see what it is all about? Sometimes this rabbit trail leads to a pornographic site or ads or a goofy story, but many times it is just nonsense to distract you.

If you are trying to have time with the Lord you need to stay focused and ignore distractions that try to lure you away. Satan loves to get God’s children distracted. Sometimes he pulls them so far away they slip and fall and end up following him not God.

Satan is a liar, thief, deceiver and nothing good is found in him. He is the one behind all the destruction, division, chaos, false truths, and many things that may be yanking your loved ones away. He uses words like equity, diversity, Christian nationalist, inclusion, tolerance, and instigates conflict wherever he is. Sadly many fine individuals are trapped in his lies but the story is far from over and brother and sister don’t despair and keep praying.

PRAYER: Lord guard and protect the hearts and minds especially of small children and teens who can easily be led astray. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Ignore The Pop Ups

 

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.1 John 2:15-17

Recently I was having a great morning. Called a long time friend to sing Happy Birthday on her big 7-0 which is the new 49 by the way. Next I listened to a message by Pastor Jentzen Franklin and read some scripture but in between all this my mind got distracted by pop ups that drew me away from what I was doing. 

Satan is like that. You are on point doing your thing and having prayer with the Almighty then poof, a pop up distracts you and you click on it only to be led to a ‘must see’ story on a celebrity you like because your computer knows from your search history who you search for. Anyway before you know it you are off on a rabbit trail with no purpose.  

How do you get yourself in a daily habit of staying on task and keeping your mind on Christ? It takes discipline. You must decide how important looking at everyone’s daily Facebook status really is and then charge on for Jesus. Enjoy your life and try to put Jesus first. This is not a denomination thing, a church thing, and so forth but is a habit you can ask the Holy Spirit to instill in you. Go for it! 

PRAYER: Today and every day I need you in my life Lord. I wake up and get depressed or sad and start wrong thinking I cry out to you and ask for help. I also ask you to forgive those who have hurt me past, present, and future. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Who Do You Follow?

“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”Matthew 4:19

I have several friends who are not on social media and I say more power to them. I am glad I was born when I was without the clamoring of having to be known by everyone and have zillions of likes on social media. It is tiresome. 

Not trying to guilt anyone but what do you find yourself doing first thing in the morning? Is it checking Facebook, Tik Tok, Instagram or do you stop and take a breath and take time to check in with the Most High God. He wants you to follow Him. 

Why do celebrities matter? I imagine there are some of them that would like to be anonymous and not have everyone going crazy over them. I think social media is like a giant People magazine but seriously why do any of us need to know? Take time to rest, take a breath, download the You Version Bible App and take inventory. Even with the so called ‘good’ emails from things start deleting and unsubscribing. Give yourself freedom to relax. Now go talk to Jesus and have a great rest of your day! 

PRAYER: Father I love you and thank you for loving me and waiting for me to talk to you many days when the tyranny of the urgent seems to push you out. Forgive me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
