RICHES WILL NOT SAVE US

"Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him." (John 6:27) .

In todays world there is much fear and talk of an economic collapse. Leaders seems to have deaf ears to the people and principles of economic law are not being followed sometimes seemingly intentionally trying to destroy our economy and our way of life. We know God is in charge and it is he who controls the power to get wealth. (See Deuteronomy 8:18). We are not to trust in man but in God. Psalm 62:10 says "Have no faith in the rewards of evil-doing, or in profits wrongly made: if your wealth is increased, do not put your hopes on it." Many today have panic and think maybe they should pull their money from the bank and stick it under their  mattress or perhaps should invest in gold. The answer is not to run and hide everything but to be in prayer and to put faith in God as  he alone can save the nation and save us spiritually.

Money is not evil. Some political forces today are trying to say it is ok for people to not work and others to support them. This is wrong for 2 Thessalonians 3:10 says 'Even while we were with you, we gave you this command: "Those unwilling to work will not get to eat."  Christians in this country have always been generous without the government telling them they had to. 1 Timothy 6:10 tells us "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs." We are not to love our money or set our hope on it. Proverbs 23:5 reminds us "In the blink of an eye wealth disappears, for it will sprout wings and fly away like an eagle."

All we have is from God and he wants us to bless others with it when we can. When you give you end up being blessed yourself.

We are to be giving back to God and doing it cheerfully. 2 Corinthians 9:7 clearly says "You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don't give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves a person who gives cheerfully." Malachi 3:10 says" Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need." You reap what you sow.

I urge you to not worry and to look to God for your strength. There is so much uncertainty in this present day. God is still on the throne.

PRAYER: Father God thankyou that we can trust in you and not in our checkbooks. Lord help us share with others what you have blessed us with. Open up the eyes of the leaders in our nation to listen to you Lord and to know you. Lord Jesus we thank you for giving us so much to richly enjoy. Help us not be lazy in our work and help us to not look to the government to save us. Forgive us for times we have taken our blessings for granted. Help us to be good stewards of the wealth you have blessed us with. In Jesus Name, Amen!
