Move On, Try Again

““Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

What in your life do you need to try to do better at or start again? Stupid conversations that ended up with misunderstandings and pain? Maybe letting go of assumptions. Trusting God with outcomes and not attempting to do things yourself, never a good idea. 

Is there someone in your life you are on shaky ground with and it is time for forgiveness,  healing, and moving forward? A new outlook or vision perhaps. Regaining trust which is super difficult at times. 

Talk to God and share your deepest needs of your heart. Ask forgiveness if you hurt someone with careless words or too much control. Ask God to bring healing and allow new memories to be made. 

PRAYER: Lord thank you for family and friends. Thank you even for strangers we encounter in our day to day life. Direct my steps to stay on your path and not stumble into the darkness of trying to be in charge. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

I Saw A Hummingbird

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. (Romans 15:13)

What brings you joy? As odd as it may sound the simple fluttering of a tiny hummingbird eating from its’ feeder brightens my day. God made these little creatures for a reason and perhaps it was to bring joy. 

A beautiful blue sky, cool breeze, the calmness of a quiet morning. Intentionally having love in your heart. Letting go of hurt and pain from the past. Seeking things above. 

Not worrying about other’s opinion of you. Believing God can get you through whatever it is you are facing. Standing strong when you feel defeated. 

PRAYER: It is a good day Lord, and I song your praises. Each and every minute us a gift from you. Help me put away cares and rejoice. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Be Kind,Rewind

“Why are you cast down, O my soul?
And why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God;
For I shall yet praise Him,
The help of my countenance and my God.” Psalm 42:11

For those of you born in 1989 or before my title is familiar. Those were the days running off to Blockbuster video on Fridays to get the families selection of VHS videos to watch on the weekend. A sticker on the video read ‘Be Kind, Rewind’ meaning it was on a reel or spool that had to be rewound so next person could see it from the start. 

Some times you have to be kind to yourself by rewinding the ‘tape’ playing in your head and start each day fresh and new. What good is it to mull and sulk over things you have no control over?

Do yourself and others close to you a favor. Relax. Breathe in. Learn to forgive. Pray. Be still. Relax your brain. Don’t worry. Rewind the past and start fresh. 

PRAYER: Lord help me to look up and look beyond concerns I don’t need to bear. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

You Liar!

The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy. Proverbs 12:22 NIV Bible Gateway

How many times has someone asked you how are you or how is your morning going and truthfully it has been pretty raunchy so far and you are on the verge of tears yet your response is "ok". Why do we do this? It happened to me recently and I thought to myself what if I had unloaded my 'issues' on this person?

So let's say you have not had that good of a morning but you want to not lie so what do you do? Maybe just be honest and say you are working through some things and thanks for asking. You could even ask the person to say a prayer for you. 

Most problems stem from bad communication with others because of being impulsive or misunderstood. My problems occur most of the time due to unthought out texting. Anyone else identify? So what do you do? Once again you run to God and cry out for help. Cry out asking him to help you be still. Cry out asking Him to help you not text or butt into other's lives. Cry out and ask the Lord to help you wait for Him. 

PRAYER: My heart aches when I make someone else upset and truly meant no harm. My heart aches when I am misunderstood. Help me Lord to rest in the shadow of your wings. Give me self control. Help any fractured relationships be mended and forgiven. In Jesus' name. Amen. 

Grief Is Real

 



The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.Psalm 34:18

It is beyond my comprehension what it would be like to experience a miscarriage or stillborn birth yet many women have. The grief goes beyond the birth mother but to the father, grandparents, and siblings. To me it is unimaginable. 

What do you say to bring comfort? Why would God not let this little one come into the world? Those are answers I am unqualified to know the answer to. 

Simply talk to God. Let Him hear your heart. Don’t be afraid to cry as tears are cleansing for your soul. Your grief may not be an unborn baby but could be another family member or friend. Don’t be afraid to cry out to God. 

PRAYERS: Lord I do not understand the whys but somehow I still know your plan and ways are above my understanding. Help me know what to do to comfort those who grieve. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Jealousy...Ouch!!

 

For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. 1 John 2:16

Feeling left out, jilted as you compare yourself to another, on and on it can go in a vicious cycle. Jealousy is not a fruit of the spirit. Nearly everyone has felt the sting of a jealous spirit at one time or another.

Jealousy is pretty common and unfortunately is something you need to work on removing and be delivered from. There is no way you can be a mind reader and know what others are thinking or feeling. 

Perhaps your jealousy has ruined a relationship with a friend or even a family member. It is insecurity, fear, even anger or resentment. If you are aware of this weak area in your life work on achieving the fruits of the spirit in your life (see Galatians 5:22)and yanking out the weeds of jealously. God can help you. Lean on him. 

PRAYER: Where can I go from your presence Lord? The answer is nowhere because you care for me and your heart aches when I mess up. Help me be still. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

A Sunbeam, A Sunbeam

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16

There was a child’s song I am not sure is sung anymore simply called ‘A Sunbeam’ saying that you’ll be a sunbeam for Him. 

Do you ever wake up in a funk and simply don’t feel like a shining sunbeam for Christ? Many things could be swirling in your head. What is necessary is to learn to let things go and refocus on ‘things above’.

Being a sunbeam would equate to being loving and kind to those you encounter daily even if they do not reciprocate. Asking God to strengthen you to do his work no matter how you are feeling or being treated. Now go shine for Jesus. 

PRAYER: Lord I thank you for the ability to shine even when I may feel downcast. Give me strength no matter how I feel to light the world around me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prepare For Attack

"From the wicked who despoil me, My deadly enemies who surround me." Psalm 71:10

Ever had one of those great weeks when things go great all around then voila an emotional bomb drops that tries to throw you off course. Satan is a master of doing that but you don’t have to fall for it. You have to purpose to stay uplifted regardless and recognize it for what it is, a ploy to get your eyes off of Jesus. 

Life will occasionally throw curve balls right when you are at your highest happiest emotionally. Hang on to Jesus. Be still. Have faith. Keep running after Jesus. 

Friend I don’t know what you may be going through today but reach out to a trusted friend for prayer and allow the comfort of the Holy Spirit to fill you up. When you continue to let negative thinking sink you into emotional quicksand you won’t have victory. You can have victory regardless of your circumstances.

PRAYER: Today Lord I need you and every day I need you. Help me Lord to trust you will make wrongs right. Help me stay humble. Guard my mouth so I don’t say stupid things I regret. Help me forgive people when they are mean to me. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Worried?Hard Not To Be Today

 

Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.Psalm 20:7

Even believers in this present crazy world we find ourselves in can be a little tense. Schools were supposed to be relatively safe places but now they are becoming indoctrination centers even as young as kindergarten.

Who is behind all this? Satan of course. Shaping minds of children to think ‘worldly’ and get them young. This is why prayer is so important. Cultural issues have torn families apart because a Christian worldview is not being taught or valued.

Are you a family member watching from the outside and pressing in to prayer? Maybe you are kept at arms length because of your ‘weird views’ of humanity. God is with you my friend and many others like you. If only people would return to Christ and stop believing the lies of the devil. Keep praying. Don’t quit.

PRAYER: I thank you Lord for my Bible the word of truth which nowadays is often not even read or followed. Give me discernment and strength to know what to do as this battle for the human soul continues. Open eyes of those blinded by the enemy due to politics or alternate worldview. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

The A -List Makes You Special

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.1Peter 2:9

In Hollywood for actors there is a term ‘A’ list actor, meaning you have ‘arrived’ humanly speaking and get lots of perks and hardly need to even audition to get a part in a motion picture or some other form of media.

Guess what? I would much rather be on God’s A List. Todays’ verse says he chose us! Little ole me. I am no one special. I don’t have lots of skills or talents but alas he has chosen us and redeemed us.

Many people have wandered in the darkness chasing the world’s idea of success realizing later in their life that is not what is important. Too bad it has to take years but not in all cases. God wants to set you and I free from whatever we are entangled in. Do you want to be untangled?

PRAYER: Help me Father turn to you for what I need and not turn to mere men. I want what only you can give. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Rockin' And A Reelin'

 

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Ephesians 6:10

Do you ever feel like you are rockin’ and reelin’ in your life spiritually? You know what you need to do but yet you want to play God and step in and tell Him how you would like things fixed. Sound familiar?

You are tired of waiting for God to intervene and handle your prayer concern, yet you know if you become the boss, it will go bad before you know it.

Maybe you feel everyone else is doing okay but say “hey look at me and my situation. What did I do wrong to have things crumble like this? I believed the promises, prayed the prayers yet here I am at square one.” My friend there is only one answer, God is working so trust Him. Do not let Satan make you doubt. Hang in there.

PRAYER:Our Father which art in Heaven hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. These familiar words from the Lord’s prayer is how I feel. Help me break the stronghold of impatience. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

One Small Step For Man, One Giant Leap For Mankind

 

"I am the vine, you are the branches,Whoever remains in me and I in him, will bear much fruit; for you can do nothing without me." John 15:5

Today marks the 54th anniversary of Man landing on the moon. I remember the day well as TV's broadcasted this historic event as astronaut Neil Armstrong took his first steps on the surface of the moon. Astronaut Buzz Aldrin had communion on the surface of the moon and read today's Bible verse. 

The heavens do declare the glory of God and I wonder if an atheist could deny the existence of God if he or she were given the chance to blast off into space like our NASA astronauts did? Pretty difficult to say that God did not make the creation. 

Right now spiritual warfare is going on for Satan would love to destroy anything about God and the Bible. The family unit is under attack, marriage is under attack, childbirth is under attack, freedom is under attack and it breaks my heart to think about how God must watch it all and wonder what is going on. Similar to the days of Adam and Eve man wanted to be his own boss and do his own thing. I urge you to keep praying for revival for our country. 

PRAYER: Lord I lift up everyone to keep their eyes and ears open to the truth. I pray for those people who are deceiving little children, hurting babies, lying to get what they want to feel fulfilled. I pray for revival to break out especially in the public school system. Guard the hearts and minds of the little ones. Wake the parents up. In Jesus' name. Amen. 

Lost And Lonely

“When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd.” Mark 6:34 NIV

Look around you and just note the expression on people's faces. Many are lonely, confused, hurting, grieving and it is hard to pinpoint the reasons. As I travel, in airports you can see people rushing to and fro mostly just in a hurry. What is going on inside their head? 

What is going on inside of your head? Do you overthink things too much? Try too hard to be liked and maybe push yourself on people who have no desire to be your friend. You are not responsible for other's actions. Simply pray and walk away. 

Perhaps there are family issues in the mix of emotions. An unresolved conflict. A deep hurt or wounded spirit. A prodigal child not wanting to come home. A host of things can create sadness, hurt, and confusion. You messed up someway, then admit it and seek reconciliation. Keep praying my friend. God loves you and He hears you. Satan is the great destroyer seeking to destroy families, ministries, and churches. Don't be fooled by his lies and tricks. Stay still and wait for God. 

PRAYER: Father I thank you so much for the opportunity to be able to pray for hurting souls. I ask forgiveness for anything I have done to ever cause pain in a relationship. Help me let go of those people in my life that don't really desire friendship with me. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Itching Ears?

 

For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 2 Timothy 4:3 

Our culture is ripe right now for this verse as some  churches are timid about preaching about the problems in culture fearful of offending anyone. Instead those with itching ears go where they hear what makes them feel okay and there is no hassle with the depravity of our present day. Even making that statement may make some angry at me for saying it. 

Satan loves it when Christian’s skirt around the issues due to a need to keep everyone happy. Perhaps some are unfamiliar with the book of Daniel or prophecy so it is safer to stick to things that don’t cause debate. I hope I am wrong. 

First let me point out that we all have sinned. There are no categories of sin although some have greater consequences and affect more people. Satan is not our friend so don’t treat him like one. Stand up and fight for your family, your friends, and churches who will not teach people about spiritual warfare. (See Ephesians 6). Run your race directly keeping your eyes on the cross. 

PRAYER: Father I get sad when I see people living a life without the fear of the Lord meaning seemingly thinking this  Earth is all there is. Guard my heart so I don’t get too captivated by the world. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Brokenness

 

In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD. John 16:33

“God will not give up on us when we turn our backs on Him and return to sin. He continues to work in us, changing our hearts little by little until we are finally ready to be set free.” Quote from author Francine Rivers, Redeeming Love book and motion picture(2022). Are you hurt by sin or waiting in the wings for a prodigal to return? Does your heart ache so much you feel it will burst at any moment. 

Hurting people hurt people and sometimes don’t really know why they are doing it.These past three years with this pandemic shutting people off from family and friends has not been easy. It has been a test for sure. Counselors offices were probably overflowing trying to figure things out. 

Whatever it is that has you down my friend keep talking to God. I know that doesn’t sound to many to be much of a solution. Don’t turn your back on God. It is pretty hard to do life without leaning in to Him. 

PRAYER: Father I thank you for family and friends. I don’t take them for granted. I thank you for my Bible and freedom. Help me run towards the cross and away from Satan’s lies and tricks. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

How About A Selfie?

 

He must become greater; I must become less.”

It can be hard for a brother and sister in the Lord to die to self when the culture is screaming “look at me” through social media. I am guilty of it perhaps most social media users are. So how do we truly ‘die to self’ in a self centered culture?

The prince of darkness ,Satan, rules this world. He is tricky, evil, cunning and even gets well meaning so called believers to fall into his trap. Even those of us who haven’t taken his bait can be guilty of being holier than thou towards others who have tripped up. 

The key is love, kindness, and prayer. Be aware that John 10:10 says that Satan comes to kill, steal and destroy. Ask yourself if what you are doing or saying or posting brings glory to God. Repent if you know you have fallen back in and God can set you free. Pray for those who still seemingly are too much in love with the world to hear Christ. God wants all to repent and no one to perish. 

PRAYER: Lord I want to be only able to hear your voice and to squish the voices of evil trying to get me to fall prey to them. I lift up our world and those souls who have taken the bait that you have believers minister to them and bring them back and restore them. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

NJOYLIF

So I commended the enjoyment of life, because there is nothing better for a man under the sun than to eat and drink and be merry. For this joy will accompany him in his labor during the days of his life that God gives him under the sun.Ecclesiastes 8:15

There are many ways to make your life miserable but instead of focusing on those why not figure out ways to enjoy life. Satan is the one who likes to accuse you, belittle you, frighten you, lie to you, intimidate you so if you are going through junk associated with those things know it is not from God. 

Wake up and say thanks Lord for another day. Give stuff bothering you to God. Have you ever just sat around pondering why so and so isn’t talking to you or why a certain scenario is happening? It will drive you crazy  and that is what Satan wants. Stop beating up on yourself. 

Make sure you give time to the Lord daily. There is not a formula for that just make sure it happens. Our culture seemingly is getting darker and you need to rise above the darkness not get sucked into it and become desensitized. Pray for those who hurt you or who are hurting our world. Find ways to spread joy. Be a lighthouse that others can see. 

PRAYER: I thank you Lord for freedom. I thank you Lord for my Bible. I thank you Lord for helping me to keep going when it is easier to quit. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Loose Lip Disease

 

Do you see someone who speaks in haste? There is more hope for a fool than for them.Proverbs 29:20

Have you ever said something and right after you uttered it regretted it? Perhaps the comment was out of emotion but was not thought out ahead of time. You try to let it go but it is hard to shake off. I did that once during an online Facebook live meeting of our HOA and said something I later wish I had not. 

The mouth can get you into a bunch of trouble if not careful. You speak, text, email, and this ‘instant’ way of communicating leads to more speaking in haste. 

Words can topple empires, break friendships, cause misunderstanding, even drive wedges between neighbors or co workers. Think before you speak. Try to make a point to only say things that will build up not tear down. Ask God to help you and forgiving yourself is often hard to do because you just wish you had not said what you said. Let it go and keep charging. 

PRAYER: I need you to guide me all the time. Sometimes reacting quickly gets me into trouble. I want to smooth over misunderstandings and build kindness into relationships. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Burdened?

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:28

Are you feeling down maybe a case of mid summer blues? Perhaps you have a situation in your life that weighs on your heart. Maybe you have allowed the darkness of this world to influence you. 

Whatever is making your heart heavy stop and take a deep breath. Comparing yourself to others is another method to guarantee a case of the blues. Be content with where you are and what you have.

Find time to bring joy to another. Forgive someone who hurt you even if they don’t ask. Don’t try to be a carbon copy of others but be happy just where you are and how God made you. 

PRAYER: Thank you Lord that I was born. Thank you for making me just like I am. Keep me motivated to run my race to win. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

NEFARIOUS

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Isaiah 5:20

A few months ago there was a movie in the theaters entitled Nefarious. Even though categorized a Christian movie the R rating and fear of unknown kept many believers away. That is exactly what Satan wanted. 

The definition means extremely wicked or villainous. Vile against moral law. Bad, wicked, malicious. Trouble is nowadays the enemy is having a hey day. Confusing people. Rewriting the Bible. Going against God’s plan for creation. Trying to get children to change their gender. Wow when did I go to sleep and wake up in an episode of The Twilight Zone? 

Now is the time to wake up. It is not someone else’s problem. Pray for your pastor to be bold and loving when preaching. Pray for blinders to come off those, maybe even yourself, who have bought this lie of Satan. Satan is a liar and thief and is after humanity and has fooled so many people. You are not here by accident. Focus on things above. Pray for those who would choose to call you names for believing things they call nonsense. Stay alert. The enemy prowls around like a roaring lion seeking someone to destroy. 

PRAYER:I need to be aware and vigilant of the darkness invading our country. It is not a joke. Help me be able to stand firm and lovingly try to get others to see the lies of Satan and not take his bait. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Be Committed

“And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.”Deuteronomy 6:6-8

Are you committed to the commands of God or do you go through life not really getting serious about anything spiritual? This particular verse today is speaking to parents about their children. 

 If you are a parent or grandparent for that matter do you take this command seriously?  I did as a mom. There is a verse about God’s word not returning void found in Isaiah 55:11. You may be just starting parenting or maybe this devotion doesn’t even apply to you. 

All I can say is you do your best and let God do the rest. Only He can go with them through life as they make decisions using God’s word as a guide or leaning on their own understanding. 

PRAYER: Thank you Lord for children. Thank you Lord for the word of God to train them with. I pray for those who shirk this very important duty to grab hold of it before Satan tries to lure them away. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Cross By The Road

 

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."Psalm 14:18

A cross of course is the most recognizable symbol of the Christian faith. I recently saw a small white cross with a persons name who had been killed in a vehicle accident in my community, right on a curve on the main road. The birthdate I saw on it was 1979 but never saw the other details.

These white crosses are placed by family and friends to remember the lives of their loved ones who often perished hitting a tree, guardrail, and so forth. I have seen many and it always makes me want to pray for the family left behind. You never know the story of the deceased or what caused the accident. As a believer your main job is to pray for those still here grieving.

What about you. If you were to be hit head on by a semi, have a blow out causing your car to lose control, or simply pass away, do you know beyond a shadow of a doubt you will instantly be with Jesus? If so, what makes you 100% sure? Heaven is not guaranteed due to church membership, baptism as a baby, doing good deeds, and so forth. Ask God to come into your heart and save you today.

PRAYER: Father I know it saddens you when people are misled by false religions or their own idea thinking they are good enough to get into Heaven. Help me be able to share truth with others and I pray for religions leading others astray to be set free and awakened. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Being Nice Is Cool

 



Be kind and tenderhearted to one another, forgiving each other just as in Christ God forgave you.Ephesians 4:32

I heard a story recently on KLove Radio about a man who decided to be kind to others and set a goal of 143 acts of kindness before the end of the year. Some of you may have read my devotion entitled 143 God which stood for “I love God” so for me to hear this number used again was nice. This man did big bold things but they don’t always have to be.

Ideas could be opening a door for someone or after you enter a place and someone coming in behind you not allowing door to hit them. Writing thank you notes by using a notecard and postage stamp. Driving someone to a doctor appointment or buying groceries to be nice. Making a meal for a friend. I am sure you can come up with others. 

Nice people are more pleasant to be around. Don’t be gossipy, complaining, acting agitated at every little problem. Above all you need to be in an attitude of prayer. Now go spread joy. 

PRAYER: I pray for anyone who might face trouble being nice maybe because the person is another political party than them or has different value system. Help me not try to fix people but to spread kindness . In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Change Your Mindset

 

So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peaceRomans 8:6 NLT

If you don’t change the way you are thinking which may be dragging you down emotionally, then it will change you. Author and Bible teacher Joyce Meyer refers to this as ‘stinking thinking’. 

Controlling your thoughts is a discipline. For instance passing judgment on someone in your mind not vocalizing it is wrong. Heard an example on Elevation Church recently say you see people not lifting their hands in worship and think they must not love the Lord. Maybe the individual has rotator cuff problems. 

It is essential to keep your mind focused on Christ not the news, not hearsay, not assumptions, not social media, not what an ‘expert’ said was right. Don’t lean on your own understanding as it says in Proverbs 3:5-6 but lean in and on God and try to develop the mind of Christ not the mind of the flesh and this world. 

PRAYER: I am indeed feeling blessed just to be alive. Thanks for giving me a brain and help me learn to use it wisely not for evil. Guard my heart. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Cares Of The World

 

“And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. ”Mark 4:19

Yesterday I mentioned about the cares of the world weighing you down to the point you sort of forget about God and walking a walk pleasing to Him. 

There is so much out there to distract believers from staying on the right path. Many have strayed and got caught up in things not pleasing to the Lord. Where is Jesus? He is in the midst of those broken struggling people yet many times they just ignore Him and proceed doing their own thing. 

Have you ever strayed from the path you were walking? I have and am glad God brought me back. Have you ever become ‘asleep at the wheel’ so to speak, not caring about your life with Christ and getting closer to Him, but instead do your own thing knowing deep down you need to return to the good Shepherd Jesus. He is waiting my friend. Today is the day of Salvation. Know one knows the day or hour when Christ will return but He will. Don’t get so caught up in a worldly lifestyle you don’t have time for Him. 

PRAYER: Lord I pray for the weak, the lonely, the misunderstood, those wandering in the desert without you, and those simply worn out by life. Give me and them courage to run from evil and pursue you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Once again I use a vanity tag message for the devotion today. Keep walking! Keep forging ahead! Don’t quit!  Never give up! Don’t become lethargic! 

These simple messages used in the context for Christian’s would be to keep going and charge ahead. Things may not seemingly be going your way but don’t let cares of this world weigh you down. In Mark 4:19  it says “And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.”

So friend keep on walking and walk for the kingdom. Walk with determination. Walk and pray. Walk with confidence knowing who is on the throne. 

PRAYER:I am grateful to be able to live in a country that has freedom. Help me be vigilant as a citizen to do my part to help keep America free. Thanks that I can walk freely and shout from the rooftops “Jesus is Lord!” In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Do You Need Freedom?

 "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free.” Galatians 5:1

Many younger people in America I feel take freedom for granted. I hope I am wrong but there is a movement afoot to try to destroy the truth and make America and her founders look bad. 

America is 247 years old today. This is my favorite holiday. Celebrating independence is something not to be taken lightly. The enemy,Satan, is working to destroy America.  We can not allow that to happen. 

Sources say the three branches of the government found in our Constitution came from scripture. For the LORD is our judge (Supreme Court), the LORD is our lawgiver (Congress), the LORD is our king (Presidency); He will save us." Isaiah 33:22

This is a nation like no other and it is necessary to stand up for truth and righteousness or we may not stay free. 

PRAYER: I thank you Lord for freedom. Many risked their lives crossing the ocean to come here to find freedom. Help us stay vigilant and not let it all be in vain. Help me hear the truth. In Jesus’ name. Amen

Trust God, Period!

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.1 Peter 5:7 NLT Bible gateway 

So you cast your care on God and then take it back and start fretting as if God is not big enough to handle the problem. I’ve done it have you? If you keep trying to do things yourself how can God work?

You can be worried, fretful, and talk about the problem all the time or you can pray and give it to God totally. I admit it takes discipline. 

Recently I saw a modern translation of Proverbs 3:5-7 saying “Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely on your own understanding and opinions. Instead, rely on the Lord and he will lead you wherever you go.” Sounds good. Can you do it? 

PRAYER: I need discipline for a focused and calm mind to not overthink things. Help me Lord to trust your timetable instead of wondering if you forgot about me. I know you have a plan and are working. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

143 GOD

 

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. Mathew 22:37

Back in the day of old school pagers ‘143’ was the code for ‘I love you’. I saw this recently on a license plate in Idaho. I figured it had to do with The God so I googled “what is 143” and voila.

What a neat vanity tag that will really make people ask about it. Do you ‘143‘ God too? Truly love Him with all your heart, soul, and mind. He is the way maker, miracle worker, promise keeper, light in the darkness. Ponder those things for a moment.

If you don’t have it already get the ‘You Version’ Bible app from App Store then the Bible and so much more is at your finger tips. Find a church that truly preaches God’s word to messed up people that means all of us. Church isn’t going and sitting quietly with a suit and tie then checking the block for the week. It should go on after you exit the church each week. Get empowered for the kingdom!

PRAYER: Thanks again for another day of life. Struggles abound but you walk with me Lord. Guard my heart and keep my tongue from speaking evil or tearing others down. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Life’s Clutter

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33, NIV).

Distractions, bills, hurt, traffic jams, toddlers vying for your time, relation pain, hard decisions, job problems so much swarming around you. Don’t let it overwhelm you. Turn to the One who holds the future and is not sitting stressed out and worried. 

First you need to get in an attitude of gratitude and prayer to ward off attacks from the enemy who loves God’s children to get frazzled. Trust Him with whatever it is. 

Know that all things will work out and God has your back. Breathe in breathing in God’s goodness. Breathe out problems weighing you down asking for God to intervene. Now go rest in Him. 

PRAYER: This is the day you have made and I will not let Satan steal it from me. I choose to be at peace. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
