SUCH WERE SOME OF YOU

What right do we have to 'classify' sin saying this sin is horrible and unforgiveable and that one is ok. I think of the sin of homosexuality for instance which in our society today is being normalized as normal and ok. No one hates homosexuals but they are in sin. But some folks tend to want to make this sin the worse one ever. Organizations such as Exodus International are working to help homosexuals be set free from same sex deficit problems.  (See 1 Corinthians 6:9).

1 Conrinthians 6:11 says " And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God." Sin is sin. Matthew 7:3 says, "And why worry about a speck in your friend's eye when you have a log in your own?" John 8:7 says "When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her."

You do not win people out of sin screaming at them and telling them they are going to die and burn in hell. Romans 2:4 says " Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? " Basically it is saying that being kind leads to repentance. Jesus wouldn't say, get out of here you stinking pervert. He would have open arms and love the person to help them get out of their sin. Where do you weigh in on the compassion and mercy meter?

PRAYER: Lord help us to be more like you in how we react to sins and sinners. We know we have all sinned and none of us is perfect. Give us your heart towards those struggling. In Jesus Name. Amen.
