We Need Friends, We Need God!

 

"Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm." Proverbs 13:20

Everyone needs friends. Many songs are written about it too. Friends help us when we can go nowhere else. Friends are a gift from God for sure. 

God is the best friend you will ever have. When a friend may betray you or hurt you God knows your pain. But the friends you have can make you or break you. 

Stay with people who are going down the path of righteousness and truth. Don’t be a fool and wind up on a long painful journey. 

PRAYER: Friends  are so very important and I thank you for the ones in my life. I pray for the ability to recognize wrong friends and pray for those who need set free. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Right Thinking In A Wrong Thinking World

 

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2

There is no doubt that the ‘god of this world’ Satan is constantly trying to change how people think. You have the choice and that is to believe the culture which is anti God or to stay immersed in scripture and know the truth which sets you free.

Discipline is required to stay away from too much social media which tries to shape your mind to think and believe it’s’ ways. Imagine if you would spend the same amount of time in the word studying truth that you do reading lies of culture?

Each day you have a choice. A choice to follow God or follow the world. What is your choice?

PRAYER: Father I want to be saturated in the knowledge of good and evil right versus wrong and unless I discipline myself to let my eyes and ears only look on truth I could succumb to lies. Give me strength Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Your Platform

 

To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. 1 Peter 2:21

Recently I was watching the show ‘Takeaways With Kirk Cameron’ where he interviewed Christian singer songwriter Matthew West who spoke of everyone being able to have a platform for Christ whether  they were on Tv or just in a small group. 

What and who is your platform? Your co workers, neighborhood, people at the gym, grandchildren, there are numerous choices. 

Many people in our world are broken today. Sometimes you can not see  outwardly but if you get beyond your own heartaches and pains there is a hurting confused world out there. Do you get up in the morning just thinking of yourself diving into ‘me work’ or do you try to think of someone else that has it worse off than you? Ponder that for awhile. 

PRAYER: Father grant me the ability to die to self to be able to reach out to someone else who really needs to have comfort. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Requirements With God

 



He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6:8

God doesn’t require too much from you oh dear friend. Simply said in today’s verse. Pretty concise huh? 

Do you desire fellowship with the Lord daily.  Do you give him the glory for the blessings in your life? Do you treat others with kindness? 

Does your life reflect Christ? Do you desire Christ? Requirements of God don’t include church membership but a whole hearted love and devotion to Him and loving others and bringing them to the kingdom. It’s way more than one hour on Sunday or Easter and Christmas. Be blessed my friend. 

PRAYER:I want my life to draw others to you Lord and not repel them. You want all people to come to know you and live like the are in love with you daily. Forgive me if there have been days I neglected this. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Rest My Friend

 

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew11:28–30

There are many verses in the Bible about rest and resting and you may assume they deal with those who have gone on to Heaven. Rest is for the living as well. 

In America we burn the candle at both ends and are over achievers in a sense. What drives some people to not slow down and be still? Hey I am preaching to the choir here too. 

Don’t think every minute of the day has to be filled with noise and activities but relax and enjoy just sitting. Now moms with babies and toddlers may find this difficult but your time is coming. Even on a day off it doesn’t mean you need to fill your calendar. I challenge you to rest.

PRAYER:Father God you give me the opportunity to rest in you so help me take it! I choose to rest and have peace. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Peace, Peace

 

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Isaiah 26:3

What’s makes you lose peace? Rough air occasionally when flying is one I identify with but have to grab hold of God’s ‘righteous right arm’ and trust He has me. Yours may be similar or something totally different. 

Peace is not out of reach for the believer. Think of those brave Jewish families during the holocaust and the ones who hid so as not to be killed by Nazis. Even in underground churches today those believers have to know that God has their back as they faithfully worship Him and work for the kingdom. 

Peace that passes all understanding or logic is a gift from God. To stand strong in the face of danger and trusting God.To know beyond a shadow of a doubt that no weapon formed against you will prosper. Just rest in his unfailing love. 

PRAYER:Lord I thank you for helping me when I need peace. Give me strength to carry on when understandably others would be frightened. Calm my spirit. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Your Control Tower

 

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Colossians 3:1

Did you know your mind is like a control tower for your life? What you think builds the kind of person you choose to be and the live you choose to live.

 

You can keep yourself lined up on the runway and taxiway of a sound life by reading and meditating on scripture daily. It does matter what you allow to seep into your thoughts so keep it on ‘things above’.

 

Listen to your ‘control tower’ which is the voice of God found in scripture. When you don’t listen to the controller you will stray off course and maybe even ‘crash’. Keep focused! 

 

PRAYER: Lord I thank you for daily guidance I get only when I open up the Bible and ‘hide’ scripture in my heart. May I not allow the devil to lull me into laziness and apathy. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
