Help Me God! I Can’t But You Can!

"Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us." Ephesians 3:20

What kind of prayers have you uttered that you are waiting to be answered? Sometimes you know you have faith but get frustrated and want to rush things along in a man made way. I know I have a struggle in this area. 

Today’s verse means a lot to me if only I could do it 100% of the time and believe what it says. I DO believe it but then start to act like I don’t believe. How about you? What are your prayers that you are believing for? 

I know God can do anything but He does it in His time, for His purposes and to show His miracles and glory. You just have to believe. Stay grounded in the word and stay off social media it will only add to your loss of hope. 

PRAYER: I want to truly pray and trust but sometimes it is so hard. I pray for anyone who is lost and hopeless to find you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

YMCA

“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”Hebrews 4:16

Often when you hear the words YMCA you may think of the popular Village People song or you could think of the organization with the fitness center and youth programs. My subject is the latter today. 

Recently I woke up in a funk over different things and started ragging on my husband which I know was wrong. Yep me the devotion writer was not practicing what I preach. Anyway I went to check my YMCA 360 App to see what fitness classes might be coming up and imagine my surprise when the words ‘Faith Journey’ popped up and low and behold the organization was emphasizing their letter ‘C’ meaning Christian and I was flabbergasted and delighted as well. 

Here was a time God’s perfect timing when I found myself in a huge black hole of my own creation and this devotion popped up on extending grace to others. Just because you are walking with the Lord doesn’t mean all things are always going to be perfect. It is essential to keep focused on things above as I find out on a daily basis. No matter what you are going through the Lord is there waiting and he gives you the ability to wait if only you will. So I hope you can go in peace today and conquer with God’s help whatever it is that is overwhelming you. 

PRAYER: Lord help anyone out there who is dealing with waiting on answers to prayers. Give strength and peace. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Pity Parties Are Draining And Lonely

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” – Colossians 3:12

There are a couple secular therapy books that indicate when a person yearns for company with an adult child or even their own grandchildren too much they are only thinking of themselves  and being narcissistic. Wow now that is an ouch word if I ever heard one. 

No one intentionally sets out  to be self centered but some folks may interpret you are wanting to see family which I think is normal, makes you self centered not taking the other persons life into account. It could be in some ways. 

Pity parties are sort of displaying a complaining self centered attitude not anything you would want to be remembered for certainly. Try to keep calm and remember who is the one who started the pity party in the first place, Satan because he is a destroyer of relationships. Get a grip, read the word, and move forward in peace. 

PRAYER: Relationships can be so hard at times. Give me the patience to be still as life unfolds. Help anyone struggling in this area. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Writer’s Block

Then when he arrived and witnessed the grace of God, he rejoiced and began to encourage them all with resolute heart to remain true to the Lord; Acts 11:23

From time to time I am puzzled on what I should write about on this devotion. I want to give hugs not shake my finger. And I want to bring comfort to those who are hurting. 

So I sit and ponder my blessings. No matter what you are dealing with right now surely you can think of a couple good things such as you have clothes to wear. Maybe your good things are things such as being able to walk each day. Another would be to live in freedom as many countries throughout the world are not free. 

As we come close to the end of April it seems this month has rushed by. Have you been waiting on a breakthrough in some area? Waiting is difficult to do but sometimes if you try to ‘fix’ things yourself it will backfire. Be still, God is with you. 

PRAYER: Lord I need your help daily to keep on keeping on. Sometimes I feel spoiled as I have so much but catch myself whining. Give me the ability to hold on til breakthroughs come. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Control Freak?

Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases.Psalm 115:3

Let’s face it, trying to control a situation or another person is like trying to hold back Niagara Falls. If you are dealing with something now you would like to control lean in to God and trust Him. 

I know from experience trying to manipulate or control an outcome will likely backfire. You have put something or someone in God’s hands so let Him work. I am often preaching to the choir on this one. 

Letting God take control involves being still and that is hard to do, I know. Today ask God to truly be in control no matter how you feel then let Him. 

PRAYER: I believe Lord you are working. Forgive my anxiety. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Are You Leaving The Light On?

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16 NIV Bible Gateway

There is a famous motel chain who advertises ‘we’ll leave the lights on for you’ and it made me think of legacy. What are you going to leave behind so others may come to a personal relationship with Jesus? 

Martyred missionaries often leave legacy of others coming to Christ through their testimony. A young Christian teen killed in Columbine school shooting of 1999 had several come to the altar and accept Christ at his funeral. He lived for Christ on earth and his testimony in death had others come to know him. 

What do you spend your life doing that will make a kingdom impact? Keep in mind don’t do things to get applauded or noticed and if that comes to God be the glory but when you are gone what will you legacy be and will Jesus’ light be shining at your celebration of life aka funeral? 

PRAYER: Father I want to make sure what I do under my roof and outside of my roof brings glory to you and help me make a lasting impact for Christ. Help me stop doing things that draw others from you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Angry People

“Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil.” Psalm 37:8 ESV

If you could get people to stay off social media their calm spirit may return. Anger is not edifying at all and when it hurts innocent victims with emotional abuse just because of a disagreement it is going too far. 

Do you feel angry. Likely if you do feel angry you may be hurt by the anger of another. Satan loves fueling fires of angry people making them feel agitated by all others. When I think of anger I think of our political arena and all the people who feel they are right and ignore those who don’t see things their way. 

Do you have someone close to you who seems to be at their boiling point? Continue to pray not preach. Maybe you need to decide to stay off social media in order to walk in God’s peace. 

PRAYER: Lord touch the hearts of those people who feel they are always right. Open their eyes to the truth. Your word is Truth. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Need Hope?

I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.Phillipians 4:12-13

Are you constantly in a state of frenzy or emotional turmoil? What are you needing or waiting for? Do you need a new thought pattern in order to give you the assurance God hears your pleas and loves you?

Tell yourself you have peace with God regardless of whether or not your problem is full blown or just a trickle. Know and believe that you have prayed and God is with you and is working. 

What can you give to another to help you during this time? Oftentimes if you dwell on your hurts, losses and pains you are disabled from helping another and growing in Christ. The enemy loves it when you get discouraged. Look around. I am  sure there are many things you can say thanks to God for. 

PRAYER: Father I thank you for how you are working behind the scenes in many situations prayed for. Give me strength even when I do not see immediate change. In Jesus/ Name. Amen. 

Unmake Your Mistakes

 

“If We Confess Our Sins, He Is Faithful And Just And Will Forgive Us Our Sins And Purify Us From All Unrighteousness.”1 John 1:9

Did you know you can ‘unmake your mistakes’ or in other words repent or turn away from things in your life that don’t draw you closer to Jesus? Probably all of us have things we need to undo or unmake.

Do you know deep in your heart you have never really asked God to be Lord of your life? Maybe church is boring to you. And reading the Bible might be totally off your radar.

Why not today search your heart and forget denominational ties whioften keep you away from Jesus instead of drawing you closer. You may be dedicated to a denomination and its’ doctrine and rules but have no real love or desire to worship the Lord. Does that describe you? Why do you go to church? For ritual and religion or to draw closer to the King of Kings. Stop today and search your heart. Do you want to truly know Jesus?

PRAYER: Today Lord quiet my heart to be able to shut out the distractions of the world and hear your still small voice. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Fasting From Words

 

Those who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from calamity.Proverbs 21:23

Just because you feel like saying something doesn’t mean you should. The mouth is the downfall of many a person.

Talking can build up or tear down and can be misunderstood and get you into big trouble. Maybe talking is a bigger issue with women than men because women tend to be more chatty.

Next time you want to comment on something in person or over social media ask yourself if it is edifying. Next ask if it is beneficial to those who hear it or read it. Your words can make you or break you. Next time you do fast perhaps make it a fast of words.

PRAYER: Lord I need strength to have self control over my mouth. When I feel like I just have to chime in and get the last word help me be still. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Darkness Turned To Light

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”John 11:25-26

Easter or Resurrection Sunday is upon us a day where the immense horrific events of Good Friday’s crucifixion came to light literally and the Word became truth and walked among us. An empty tomb just as He said He would rise on the Third Day. 

Think about it He literally is omnipresent with you and I today yet just as then mockers and scoffers come. Haters are in abundance maybe not directly at Him but treating His followers with disdain. He died so you and I could live and our sons past, present, and future were forgiven but yet many still spit in His face today. 

Are you prepared for Easter Sunday. Do you love Jesus and are sorry for your sins which elevated you over Him as seemingly you were saying “I don’t need you Lord”? You know Jesus loves you and He is waiting even today for you to cry out to Him ABBA, daddy, if only you would. Don’t let denominational things blind you to the truth of the gospel. Stop now and ask Him to be Lord of your life. 

PRAYER: Lord forgive me when I have put other things ahead of you. Forgive me when I have mocked your followers and acted in ways that did not bring glory to you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

It’s Saturday-Now What?

"For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." — 2 Corinthians 4:17-18

Can you even begin to imagine the sadness that overwhelmed those who witnessed Jesus brutal crucifixion  and death and removal from the cross into the tomb. Emotions were probably going crazy. Like a nightmare but yet one with a promise and hope. 

The prophecy was that in three days He would arise from the dead but can you imagine what Saturday must have been like waiting and wondering. I can’t really. 

Are you anxious for the savior to come. If He were present with you today how would react or would you be able to say or do anything. Ponder that and have a hopeful Saturday. 

PRAYER: Each day I need you. My heart aches for those who could care less about this special weekend and are caught up in worldly pursuits that matter little in big scheme of things. Help me keep my heart on fire for you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

What Is Your Mind Set On?

 

“Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things.” Colossians 3:2

Controlling your mind and your thoughts is a spiritual discipline which needs much practice. It is easy to daydream and drift to ‘what if” this or “what if” that.  

The enemy knows if he can get you off on some rabbit trail of distracting thoughts it will be difficult for you to pray and worship the Lord but instead you will be caught up in worry and ‘things of this world’.

Where are you ‘at’ today? Caught up in speculating about things in your life not being able to be still and wait on God? Trust that God is with you and lean into Him. Talk to Him in prayer. 

PRAYER: I need you each day Lord when I allow junk to clog up my thinking. Help me turn from the problems of this world and give you my total focus. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Keep Laughing!

“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.”Proverbs 17:22

No matter what life throws at you it helps immensely to laugh at good clean humor. I was watching Christian comedian John Crist recently and it brought me many laughs. 

It is true laughter will help heal the body and soul. When you are gloomy, worried, stressed it is time for a good clean belly laugh. 

There is nothing wrong with laughing and getting a little silly every now and then. You will lower your blood pressure. Go out and do something childlike like swing at a local playground. This past winter I was in our neighborhood playground with my granddaughters just laying flat in the snow having fun. A car stopped to see if I was okay, and that made me laugh they probably thought I had a stroke. Sat up and waved “I am fine”. Such a day. Now go enjoy life and find something to smile about. 

PRAYER: Father I thank you for the gift of laughter and a sense of humor. Help me brighten a day of someone going through a gloomy time. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Leave Your Baggage At The Altar

 

“Then He said to them all: ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.’” Luke’s 9:23

Do you need to come home to God?Do you need more than religion? Maybe you truly need Him to be Lord of your life.

What kind of junk is weighing you down and keeping you from getting closer to the Lord? Perhaps you know deep down what it is but you have been unwilling to yield because whatever it is has too much control over your life.

Take time now to search your heart and ask God to reveal to you what junk is not letting you live fully for Him.

PRAYER: Help me Lord let go of problems, attitudes, issues, and any thing that is pulling me away from you Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Are You Angry?

 

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.James 1:19-20 NIV Bible Gateway

Anger is caused by many things but anyone caught in its’ clutches needs to get delivered from it before it overtakes you. Your enemy Satan loves angry people because they wreak havoc in relationships, at work, in sports, and so forth.

Start cultivating the fruit of the Spirit in your life to overcome the ploy to wreck your life. Don’t let other people control you.

Think on peaceful things and don’t dwell on those people who have hurt you but instead learn to forgive even when a person has not asked for it.

PRAYER: I know it is Satan who comes to steal, kill, and to destroy and to get people angry. Help me walk in peace towards everyone. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Approaching Easter

 But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.Isaiah 53:5

In less than a week Resurrection Day or Easter as it is more commonly called will be celebrated. It is not about baby chicks, bunnies, chocolate eggs, and fancy clothes but is a day to reflect and celebrate that Jesus truly is resurrected and alive and one day will appear to us again. 

When He died on that cross over 2000 years ago He died for all of us and our sin no matter how vile, corrupt, or heinous it was. The lashes with a whip, the flogging, the cruel and torturous beatings He did for all even those who would still spit on Him today. 

What does Easter mean to you? Think about that for a moment. If you get a chance go see Angel Studios new animated release ‘King of Kings’ definitely for all ages and very understandable. Take time to really reflect on this sacrifice. 

PRAYER: Sometimes Easter can be cast aside as a day of frivolity and egg hunts but help me Lord really grasp what this day is all about. I pray for those who have never experienced true freedom to find it this Easter season. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God Is Greater

 

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.Proverbs 3:5-6

Stop your fretting over things you have on your prayer list. God is greater than all your problems.

Take a step back and start looking at the blessings in your life instead of the problems. Make a decision to not overthink your problems too much as it achieves nothing but more stress.

Do an exercise each day and that is ‘casting’ your problems to God. Keep up this practice and when things start to overwhelm just stop and say “God thanks for my life and thanks for how you see me through” and let it go.

PRAYER: I need you every hour Lord and I thank you for being my comfort and my rock when I feel alone. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Help My Thinking Lord

 "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."Romans 12:2

Do you have trouble with overthinking or rehearsing scenarios in your mind? If you do try getting up and saying “Lord help me think only uplifting positive things and let past wrong thoughts go” then let it go.

This is a discipline that takes practice. Don’t be mulling over things you have done or said you shouldn’t have but charge ahead determined to let God be in control.

Whatever you are going through know God is still on the throne and always will be. 

PRAYER: Lord I choose to let you guide me and stay rooted and grounded in right thinking. Help me stop judging in my mind and help me truly trust you with repair jobs in my mind. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Keep Your Mind Focused On Above

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Phillipians  4:8 NIV Bible Gateway

Believers should make an effort to not get sucked into the ways of the world and keep your mind focused on above meaning Jesus. In this politically volatile time we live in continually feeding your mind on Social media posts that incite fear or anger is not a good thing. 

You may feel you need to know but why. Wouldn’t you rather stay peaceful and try to pray for those who oppose you or make ugly remarks. Don’t lash out on Facebook. WWJD. Be still. 

I know also that even if you use your phone as your Bible and also have devotions on your phone it is easy to start delving into social media. Why is it necessary to know everything? Start today and be honest with yourself. You have to pursue peace to achieve it. Now go be blessed. 

PRAYER: Father I do not like it when I give more time to other things than You. Help me learn to be still and seek You. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Finish Right

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.1 Corinthians 9:24

I recently passed a truck for a local business called ‘Finish Right’ and it gave me an idea for another devotion. 

All believers should want to do the best they can to serve the Lord with gladness and to rejoice in all things. You are in a race of sorts running to receive the crown of life in a Heavenly kingdom. 

What can you do today to have delight in the Lord and do things with gladness in your heart to help you towards a right and glorious finish when you hear the words “Well done good and faithful servant”? (Matthew 25:23). 

PRAYER: Lord my heart breaks for those in the world who are just living for now thinking they will go on forever and life how they want doing what they want. Wake them up Lord. Strengthen me to finish strong too. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Time For Company-Oh No!

Better to eat vegetables with people you love than to eat the finest meat where there is hate.Proverbs 15:17

Many people love throwing dinner parties as maybe they grew up and their family did it so it is no big deal. I know of people who have many people living under their roof and feed an ‘army’ practically but for those of us who were not born Martha Stewart it can be stressful even for wanting to have a few couples you know over. 

First of all years ago I read an excellent book entitled ‘Open Heart, Open Home’ by Karen Burton Mains about hospitality versus entertaining. My verse today may be taken out of context but I thought it was a good one and my translation would be ‘better have friends for hotdogs and have joy and peace than to have prime rib and be a nervous ninny.’

Years ago my son and his high school girlfriend  dropped in and she stayed for supper. Some people just ‘whip stuff up’ at last minute. That does not come easy for me but I managed. Not going to share recipe but you would laugh. It is still a joke in my house today. Thing is try to remember to be a representative of Christ. That is all that matters. Be yourself. Breathe in breathe out. Enjoy your friends. 

PRAYER:Father help me to be creative but not stress and fret over having company for dinner. Help me be hospitable and not compare myself to others. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

The Clock Is Ticking

My times are in Your hand;
Deliver me from the hand of my enemies and from those who persecute me. Psalm 31:15

Everyone is born and everyone will eventually die. Death is not to be feared it is part of life and eternity. 

Each of us is here on this earth to serve a purpose in God’s kingdom but some not living for Him have not ‘arrived’ yet and don’t see they have a distinct purpose. You may stumble and fall or be duped by Satan on your way to fulfilling your purpose and plan God has for your life. 

Don’t despair my friend. Your purpose may be simple or complex but everything and everyone is important to God. Don’t lose hope if you are praying for a family member or friend who has lost their way but know God will bring them back when His timing is right. Keep praying. 

PRAYER: Today Lord help me lean into you and know that all I need do is to trust you. Guard my heart and alleviate any fears. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Falling In A Crevice

But as for me, my prayer is to you, O Lord.At an acceptable time, O God,  in the abundance of your steadfast love answer me in your saving faithfulness.Deliver me from sinking in the mire;let me be delivered from my enemies and from the deep waters.Psalm 69:13-14

I think one of the scariest things would be falling in a huge pit, hole, a well,  or down a mountain  crevice seemingly trapped. You may feel helpless as you contemplate how you will escape from the dire situation you find yourself in. 

God the Most High is your rescuer and is your life saver. He is the one who is holding the rope so to speak as you climb to safety. He wants you to trust Him and lean on Him. 

Keep your eyes on Him and not your situation. If you don’t know Jesus as savior surrender your life to Him now. A believers home is not this present dark world but is in Heaven where no longer will there be fears and torment. 

PRAYER: Today Lord I look to you and say thanks for rescuing me from the lies of Satan. I pray for any people caught in his trap to hear the truth. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Don’t Stress

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.2 Corinthians 4:1

What are you feeling today? Peace, joy, agitation, anxiety, fear, anger? Today’s verse speaks of not being bothered by ‘momentary’ troubles meaning they are not here forever. 

Realize that your Heavenly Father loves you and the devil hates you. God’s plans for you are for hope and a future. 

When you go through trials and tribulations you can hold on to hope that these things will pass.

PRAYER: I thank you for each new day you bless me with. Help me to keep a good attitude no matter what ugliness may surface in my day because I know you hold the future. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

God Is In Control

 

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end.” Isaiah 9:6–7

In this politically charged and divided world we live in it is important to remember who is on the throne and controls it all. God allows certain leaders. Not everyone is in agreement.

But  remember my friend we are in a battle of good versus evil and Satan is the one to be mad at not a family member or friend who voted a certain way. 

This  is spiritual warfare. Keep praying. Don’t trust in man but in God and read your Bible daily with an open heart and take comfort. 

PRAYER: I love you Lord and your mercies are new every morning. Give me wisdom to do what is right. Keep my heart and mind pure. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Can You Forget It?

 

 “…forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead” Philippians 3:13

Do you have trouble going back to your past and rethinking how you could have reacted differently? It’s probably pretty common and it is a tactic from Satan your enemy, not God. 

If Satan can manage to lure you into the trick of over thinking and reliving stupid things from your past or maybe things that hurt you then you can’t have much spiritual victory. Let go any spirit of anger or offense or you let the enemy right in. 

Whatever it is bothering you today just purpose in your heart you will not go there and camp out. Your ‘pond’ of past memories has a no fishing sign. Remember in 1 Corinthians chapter 13:5 says love keeps no records of wrongs so strive for that goal. 

PRAYER:Father I give you any thing from my past that Satan wants to use to torment me. You are in control and on the throne of my life. I cast wrong thoughts off. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Do Your Thoughts Align With Gods?

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11

Do you allow The Holy Spirit to control your thought life or do you let the weight and problems of this present world cause you to cave to worry? Thinking is one of the biggest areas of a persons life that Satan would like to control. Don’t allow it my friend. 

God’s thoughts for you are good, perfect ones to bring you a future and prepare you for His Heavenly kingdom. 

First and foremost  to have the mind of Christ is to be careful what you dwell upon. Whatever things are wholesome, pure, kind, gentle, loving and forgiving think on those. If you allow anger and agitation to enter you are not thinking Christlike. If you fixate on hurt and pain and how to get even that is not aligning with God. Start making a list of God’s blessings and you will be on the right track to alignment with God. 

PRAYER: Father many times I have allowed unchecked thinking to reign in my brain cells. I don’t want to do that and it is not my intent to dwell on negative stuff. I ask for help to break stronghold of wrong thinking. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Passion In Your Life

“You shall have no other gods before me.” Exodus 20:3

What in your life is the most important or what do you spend your waking hours doing? In answering this question family is top priority in my life hands down. There are things I enjoy doing for recreation. You might have hobbies you enjoy. 

Don’t ever let anything take away the first place position from the Almighty creator of Heaven and Earth. If you have lost your passion for your first love Jesus examine your heart and ask why. Perhaps this world has lured you into its’ trap of comfort and entertainment and time with God is squeezed out. 

Do you want God to be first place and if so what will you do to make it happen? 

PRAYER: Help me Lord to never allow the pleasures and delights of this world make you take a backseat or keep you in the basement of my heart. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

No Fooling.Jesus Is Lord.

 

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. – Proverbs 1:7

Here we are on April Fool's Day and I am sure all of us have had pranks pulled on us or have fooled another person. A fool is a person lacking judgment. 

I don’t know about you but I don’t want to be known as a foolish person. The Bible contains many scriptures about foolish people. Look up the word fool or foolish in your Bible or on the Bible Gateway App and you will find several. 

Being foolish is not a good character trait. And mocking people who are foolish is unkind. So the focus today is not on fooling people or carrying out pranks no matter how fun or quirky some are but instead is in thinking what the word fool real means. April Fool’s Day is referring to the definition as an action verb in tricking others. Go into today’s prankster day just being grateful that you are not a foolish person. 

PRAYER: I yearn to not be a foolish Lord or to do foolish things. Help this day just remain innocent fun for those who participate and give me strength to not walk in foolish ways. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
