Knee Mail Is The Best

Never stop praying. 1 Thessalonians 5:17(NLT)
The verse for today is one of the shortest in the Bible yet most profound in content. There's  a song with lyrics "Where do you go when you need a shelter? Where do you go when you need a friend? Where do you go when I need some helping? Where do I go back on my knees again." I know most people probably only think of praying to God in a crisis situation but He is there waiting just for you to chat with Him daily.
Instead of starting out each day with Facebook and email maybe it should be started out with His book, the Bible and "knee-mail". It is so every easy to do everything else under the sun but when it comes to spiritual matters like getting closer to God and spending time with Him and in His word, often it is the most neglected right behind not exercising our bodies. Yours truly has been guilty of it too. We truly have to discipline ourselves and believe me, Satan will be out there spreading lies and helping you make excuses for why you can't.
Don't let Satan win. Go to your knees in prayer each day and send God some knee-mail!

PRAYER: I love it that daily I can pray to you when things are good or bad. Thanks for being there. In Jesus' name. Amen.

PRAY, PRAY, AND PRAY SOME MORE!!

Feel like giving up and quitting? Wondering why God does not hear your prayers? Starting to just give up on the whole "church thing" thinking God does not care and why should I bother with going to church and praying anyway? Friend, God does care for you and it is the enemy Satan who puts the thoughts in your mind that he does not. Satan's trick is to get you to blame God for everything bad in life. Satan is the destroyer and thief, not God! God is the God of Hope and Love.
First off going to church does not a Christian make. Many people feel that is all there is to it. Find a church that is vibrant and alive and you can go and grow in Christ not just one to check the block off. Do not necessarily go to the denomination you are 'used to' as it is not about a denomination anyway but it is about being closer to Jesus. Next, keep on praying and keep on believing. Prayer does indeed change things and bring peace of heart and mind. In the midst of the struggles of life God is indeed there. He does not abandon you.
Luke 18:1 is one of my favorite verses and it simply says to "Pray and not give up". Are you able to do that? Jesus loves you my friend. Stop what you are doing now and "talk" to Him in prayer.
PRAYER: Father I thank you for being my guide, protector, the lifter of my head. I thank you that when the enemy comes in to drag me down you are there to lift me up. I thank you that you are a 24/7 on duty God who I can always pray to around the clock. Forigve me for any doubts I have ever had. I trust in you. In Jesus' name. Amen.

WHAT ARE YOUR "GIANTS"?

Do you have a situation looming over you in your life that seems like it is way too big and will never go away? There is a saying "this too shall pass" but when you are in the midst of your "battle" it sure does not seem that way. During times like these it is essential you practice focusing on "things above" and to try to not dwell on that which drags you down. Problems can, and will, overwhelm you if all you do is think on them.

I loved the movie "Facing The Giants" which dealt with many issues in life that seemed humanly impossible but with God in the equation nothing was impossible. Matthew 19:26(NIV) clearly lays it out 'Jesus looked at them and said,"With man this is impossible but with God all things are possible"'. Pretty clear wouldn't you say? You have to have faith and you have to believe.

In the Bible it says in Mark 9:23(NIV) 'And Jesus said to him "If you can?All things are possible to Him who believes."' Do you have that kind of "mountain moving" faith? "But my problem is way too big and nothing is going to help." Who puts thoughts like that in your head? Not God, that is for sure.

I heard someone once say "Believe receive, doubt do without." God is way bigger than anything overwhelming we humans here on earth. Don't stop praying or believing your situation can't change.

Right now start having positive thoughts and do not allow the enemy to get you fearful or doubtful. God is a miracle working God! Believe it and keep praying!!

PRAYER: Today Lord I choose to believe and not lose hope. I choose to focus on good and not bad that cam create gloom and doom. I will seek your peace and pursue it .In Jesus' name. Amen.

THE "LIGHTENING BOLT" GOD

You may have heard someone say something to the effect that if God wants them to do a certain thing that maybe they do not want to, then He will have to hit them with a lightening bolt. God could do that if in fact he wanted to and of course the person would survive to do God's work or live for God or whatever it is God has planned for them.

God can give you a "wake up call" if He has to. He did it in the Bible many times. In Jonah chapter 1 in the Old Testament you may recall the story of Jonah not wanting to go to Nineveh to tell the people if they did not repent God would destroy their city. He ran away from God, which by the way is impossible as He knows where you are and there is no hiding. Read Jonah chapter one right now if you have your Bible handy.

Then there was the account of Daniel in the lions den found in Daniel chapter 6 in the Old Testament. (Read that as well). The evil rulers thought Daniel was killed and when they opened the doors of the den they saw the lions just lying there and Daniel very much alive! God had shut their mouths so they did not harm Daniel. Never doubt the awesome power of our mighty God even when a situation seams hopeless or impossible,

What are you waiting on? Your situation may not be as dire but know that God does care and He is in control and has a plan. Do not lose hope. A wayward child, a new job, a financial miracle, release from a court battle, healing, and a host of other situations can sure drag us down in a pit of despair at times. You cry out to God and He does hear you. Luke 18:1(NIV) says to 'Pray and never give up.' Luke 1:37(NLT) tells us 'Nothing is impossible to God.' Don't put God in a "box" thinking His capabilities are limited and He surely can not do certain things. He is God! The Alpha and The Omega.

Do not "entertain" doubts and fears and "what ifs" in your mind. God can perform miracles so keep believing.

PRAYER: Lord I thank you that nothing is too big or too hard for you. You care and you hear my prayers. I need your help to stay focused and be positive. I know the enemy will get me to fear and worry and with your help I will tell him to get behind me and stay there! I have victory in you! In Jesus' name. Amen.

GOD WILL NOT FAIL YOU

Welcome to February!! The month of making resolutions or setting goals
is behind us although that does not mean to not to go after goals and
dreams in life. Before getting into a few devotions this month on
love, since this month is Valentine's Day, I want to concentrate on
letting you know God is for you. God loves you. If God had a
refrigerator your picture would be on it! Even if you have messed up
He does not kick you out or set you out with the trash like damaged
goods. He can and will forgive and he can and does use you for His
kingdom purposes. He forgives your sins and gives you a brand new
start. Only Satan condemns you and makes you feel worthless. You are
worth very much in the eyes of God. Always remember that!! 1
Corinthians 6:11(NIV) reminds us 'and that is what some of you were
but you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the
name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.'

Each and every day of February and every day thereafter get up and say
out loud 'This is the day the Lord has made and I WILL rejoice and be
glad in it!' (Psalm 118:24). ' What if I am having a terrible day or
have a jerk as a boss at work, you still want me to sing praises to
God?' Yes, is the resounding answer. Sure life can, and will throw
some junk at us sometimes. Unexpected deaths, sicknesses, loss of
jobs, betrayal of friends, a church who turns their back on you for a
bad "sin". Many disappointments can happen while on this Earth.

In the book of James 1:2-4(NIV) it says the following 'Consider it
pure joy my brothers and sisters whenever you face trials of many
kinds for you know that the testing of your faith produces
perseverance. Let perseverance finish its' work so you may be mature
and complete not lacking anything.'

Start February on a high note knowing you are special to God and He
wants you to come to Him with your joys and your sorrows. He is
waiting to hear from you.

PRAYER: Lord I do thank you for the joy of the Lord which is my
strength. Thank you each new day is a chance for a new beginning.
Thanks for not remembering my sins and letting me have another chance.
In Jesus' name. Amen.

WISHING,HOPING,THINKING, AND PRAYING

Back in the 60's there was a pop song with this title. We wish, hope, and think but the real key thing in life to do is to mainly pray. Pray and pray some more. Luke 18:1 reminds us to "Pray and never give up." How many times do you feel like giving up when your prayers do not seem to make a difference? Don't quit, but think of that verse. Believe and know that God does hear and he does care.

We can do all the wishing and hoping and thinking in the world but praying is what truly matters. Praying is simply talking to God. Many people may feel they need to throw in some fancy language in order to get God to listen. You can pray at all times and guess what? You do not need to close your eyes. Pray while you are driving your car. Instead of turning on the radio keep it quiet and try talking to God.

Psalm 121:1 says "I will lift my eyes up unto the hills from where comes my help."
Psalm 120:1 says "In my distress I called to the Lord and He heard me."
1 Thessalonians 5:17 reminds us to "Pray without ceasing."
Take time today to talk to God. He is only a prayer away. Our hope is in the Lord!

PRAYER: Lord I thank you for hearing my prayers. I thank you for guiding me daily. In Jesus name. Amen.

STORMS IN EVERYONE'S LIFE

Wednesday 27 April 2011 was a horrible day for storms in the Southeast United States especially here in the area I live close to. Devastating killer tornado's swept through at F4 and F5 intensity, leveling homes, picking up vehicles and tossing them like toys and carrying debris over 80 to 100 miles before it came to rest ,some even in our field here in Tennessee. Unbelievable the force of the winds.

It is amazing more people did not lose their lives this day. I for one did not realize it was going to be so serious and was out running errands. My husband kept calling saying to get on home. We were spared and I was blessed to get to help several days in the clean up efforts in the nearby communities of Harvest and Toney. When a homeowner sees all they have worked for either gone or laying all over their yard or up in a tree it is a little bit disheartening and hard to take mentally. These folks just needed someone to help them pick up the pieces. What a better time to serve the Lord than by pitching in and helping pick up stuff in yards and talking to homeowners in the process.

'Storms' in general are going to come to everyone in their lifetime. Maybe not in the form of a physical killer tornado but in the form of death, bad news, job loss, failed tests in school, disappointment, rejection, and much more. It is how we handle these 'storms' that matters. Do we just give up and get into a depressed state which is natural or do we cry out to Jesus for his help and comfort? Many get mad at God when 'storms' come into their life. Many storms have a silver lining if we can hang on the 'getting through'  process. James 1:3 says "For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow."

What storms are you going through right now? Do you feel like God doesn't care or you will never see the sun again? It seems that way in the midst of turmoil but there are rainbows after storms and there will be 'rainbows' for you too if you only keep praying, believing and hold on to Jesus.
Luke 18:1 says to "pray and never give up". Can you do that? Can you keep praying in the midst of your troubles? It is the best way to get through it and to get victory and peace.

PRAYER: Lord God I thank you for both the good times and the bad. Thank you that you never leave my side and I find comfort in knowing you are always with me even in the rough spots of life. Help me Lord to learn to run to you and not fear when problems arise .In Jesus name. Amen.
