Don't Live In Fear

 

"They will not live in fear or dread of what may come, for their hearts are firm, ever secure in their faith." Psalm 112:7

Are you scared? Why? Rumor of war. Skyrocketing inflation. Pandemic. Death. 

The author of fear is definitely not God because his word says in 2 Timothy 1:7 that he did not give us a spirit of fear but if power, love, and a sound mind. Is your mind ‘sound’ and if not how do you achieve that? 

Number one, Christians should not fear, period. Read Psalms. Trust and faith are two things you rely on to get you through tough unsettling times. Exercise of your ‘spiritual muscles’ is vital. Can you release your fears to God then don’t go fishing for them again? 

PRAYER: Lord I come to you asking for your help in remaining steadfast through storms of life. Thanks that you are my anchor. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Oh No!! My Money!!

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philipians 4:19

In recent days with world events in chaos, the stock market has reacted on a negative way. Those diligently working hard for saving grimace as their portfolios plummet. 

My late parents and grandparents generations had to suffer through wars and the Great Depression. They didn’t lead a cushy little life like most today do. Sometimes when you are at rock bottom you have time to look up.

The trials and hardships made them stronger. You weather the storm and hang on till the sun shines again. The money is God’s anyway we are to only be good stewards of it. 

PRAYER: Father thanks so much that I basically grew up and had what I needed. Show me how to use what you blessed me with to help others. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Pushing Rewind

Then Jesus said to her, "Your sins are forgiven." Luke 7:48

Generation Z maybe has not heard the term rewind like we who grew up with the VHS tapes saying “Be kind rewind” but basically it is returning to start.

You may have done something so awful you wonder how you could ever be forgiven. Good news. God is a good good God and extends grace and mercy for those truly repentant. No matter what. 

The devil will try to make you feel like it can’t be possible that for instance you murdered someone and actually god would wipe your slate clean. Redemption is there for those whose hearts are truly repentant. How about you? Are you ready to go to God and say you are sorry and truly be set free and on a redeemed course of life? 

PRAYER: Lord I thank you that no matter what you love me and forgive me if I come to you with a contrite heart. Use me Lord to reach out to those having a hard time believing this. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Help For The Hurting

Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.Colossians 4:6

Recently I was in a hair salon sitting waiting and couldn’t help but hear a very loud mouthed foul speaking young lady who spewed the F word over and over in her conversation to the point I was tempted  to say something. Obviously she was in her own little world not bothered or caring who heard her. 

The F word sadly has become a casual adjective for many people. Some Hollywood movies have to insert it over and over for who knows what reason. Young people today may grow up thinking it is normal. This girl obviously was from a rough hurting past in that she sought attention by loud vulgar speech. It hurt my heart for her. 

Pray for people you encounter that seem that somewhere they encountered a need for attention. God created this loud individual and loved her as well. I will try to remember to not get upset and try to pray for those who do things like this as obviously there is an underlying issue in her life. Keep your own heart and speech pure and stay walking with Christ.

PRAYER: Father help me to pray and be kind to those the world calls me obnoxious. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Lots Of Love

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Many people are feeling the warmth of love day in and day out but others feel like a dried up well of sorts where their 'love meter' isn't getting nourished by those in their life they need to be nourished from. Could be a friend, grandchild, spouse, sibling. It hurts to feel rejected for sure. 

Recently the Christian film 'Redeeming Love' showed an example of true love where it did not matter about a persons' past whether they were worthy or not but it was unconditional love as found in the BIble. Love makes the world go around so the saying goes but it has to be the kind of love God intended. 

If you are hurting today, talk to God and tell Him. He loves you and his heart aches for you as well. 

PRAYER: Father I love you and I know I can come to you anytime because you care for me. I pray for those people who may feel neglected, rejected, dejected, and hurt. Lift their spirits and bring people across their paths to comfort them in ways only you could. In Jesus; name. Amen.

Rich Girl, Poor Girl

 Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” Matthew 19:21 NIV Bible Gateway 

It can be easy to slip into a comparison mode and I only know it from the females perspective but judging someone on the handbag brand they carry, coat they wear, vehicle they drive, cell phone they use, house they live in and so forth. It could even go so far as to judge by the college they attended or even high school. 

This is human nature not God nature that does this. The verse today suggests that God wants us to release our ‘riches’ in order to follow Him. Hard to follow Jesus when you worship money and the things it buys.

God’s word speaks lots on money and riches. When you see a person in need you should want to help meet their need. The generations born between say 1960 through today have not really learned what it is like to be without say like those in the Great Depression. The money and riches all belong to God and you simply are the steward of it.  Are you able to loosen your grip on your wealth and truly help others? 

PRAYER: I am so grateful for the time I live in. I am thankful for parents who taught me the value of money and how to share. Give me eyes to see others pain. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Cold, Callous Hearts Need Jesus

 

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10

These last two years have been taken right out of Satan’s playbook or in other words, the fighting, division, threats of tyranny, family squabbles are spiritual warfare against Satan not the people.

I have three quote unquote ‘sisters’ from a college sorority who no longer need me in their life all because of who I voted for. Very sad. Demonic spirits have captured some peoples hearts and they are unable to love and forgive because of being blinded. Never be angry at the people hurting you but instead lift them up in constant unceasing prayer to be set free.

Callousness is not a fruit of the spirit. A person can even claim they are Christian siting their longtime church membership. Only the Holy Spirit can draw someone to Him. Your job is to love and pray unceasingly. Church membership is not your ticket to Heaven. Are you holding any grudges or hatred in your heart? Why not release it to God today.

PRAYER: It hurts when friends or family turn their backs on you due to Satanic warfare. I choose to press in even harder and pray for those who like to belittle me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
