Your Plane Is NOT Going Down


Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Philippians 4:8

Many people are fearful of flying and that is okay. I guess it would be natural to be scared when sitting in a hollow metal tube 36000 feet in the air. But really it is safe.

Do you have certain things that make you scared? Rattlesnake encounters? Getting hit head on by a tractor trailer? Dying in a house fire? The death of a child? Being left alone in the dark? Dying of Covid 19? It is common to be fearful but you can control it.

Don’t dwell constantly on doomsday scenarios and the ‘what ifs’ of life or you create instant fear. Today’s verse says to think on good things. Constant fretting over things that may or may not happen only serves to increase your blood pressure and make you mentally ill. Get your mind focused totally on something else. Don’t feed your mind on scary thoughts. I know you can do this!!

PRAYER:Help me Lord to run this race of life to win and part of that is to have right thinking and control my wandering mind. I give you my fear and leave it at the foot of the cross. It is the enemy who tries to torment me and I will not allow it. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Unnecessary Worry


Casting  down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5
I have had something on my heart that if I think about it too much I go nuts and don’t practice what I preach. You know that nagging concern that causes many ‘what i’ scenarios? Oh my goodness Satan loves it when Christians start to act like the rest of the worried world.
So if you can identify with me in any way you have got to get a grip and stop conjuring up scenarios in your head that will probably never occur. As I think about what my concern is I get teary eyed then I say “stop it Becky you know better” and try to move on. I don’t know if men get weirded out about speculation of future events but I know other women who do.
Right now stop doing this. Satan delights in getting  you overly concerned, worked up,  and hyper focused on junk that probably won’t ever happen. Even if it did happen God is there and He is in control. So right now make up your mind not to ‘go there’ with the what if’s or you will send yourself to a mental hospital. Trust God, pray, and relax. Give it to God and let it go!
PRAYER: Oh Lord taking captive my thoughts is an ongoing process. Satan can not get me off course and I refuse to allow him to concern me about things that don’t matter. I choose to focus on positive uplifting thoughts. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Anxious? Don't Be!



And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7

In just a few days Americans will go to the polls and cast their votes for President, Senators, and Congress. We are at a crossroads in America and it makes many believers nervous and fearful. Please don't be. By all means, be on your knees in fervent prayer. Don't take this responsibility lightly. Statistics showed that in the last presidential election 25 million voters who identified as evangelical did not vote. 

God is the ultimate authority no matter who gets in office but Christians need to get serious about their responsibility to bring America back to God. Because many did nothing we are where we are today. Marriage, which is the cornerstone of society,  has been turned into a mockery. God will not be mocked. 

You live in the world but are not to be of the world. Every believer has a responsibility to speak up for righteousness and to speak the truth in love. 

PRAYER: It is so very easy to get sucked into the modern culture and start believing it's lies. God's word has never changed. At times I have been led to believe lies. I choose to do my part to turn this nation back to God. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Let It Go....Again!

          Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Isaiah 43:18 

Lessons have to be learned and sometimes you have to repeat the same scenario over and over until you do get a grip on it and have victory. Take worrying for instance.Not one little thing is going to change by you constantly being in a state of panic over something is it? 

Learn to stop, be still, talk less, listen more. Take it from one who knows and is still working on improving this area. Like a gardener who prunes his crops until they produce the fruit he wants, so God prunes us till He has what He wants in us. Traits that we have that don't glorify the kingdom or are not a good witness for Him have to be improved upon. 

The best thing you could do is when you feel fret and worry coming on, stop, take a breath, and say "God you are good and you are bigger than any problem. I give this to you" and when you do, move on. May take some practice but why not start today working in that area. Be blessed in your journey. 

PRAYER: I trust you with all situations in my life. I know you are in control. Your plans are greater than my plans. I praise you for looking out for me and accepting me just the way I am. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Get Beyond The Problem



Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
Each day holds new blessings and new surprises, some good and some not so good. If you have the not so good type of surprise sprung on you, it may cause you to want to dwell on it to the point of obsession. What could you have done differently? Who can talk to in order to straighten the ensuing mess?

Certain personality types may react to bad stuff in a more laid  back manner than others. Ask my sister, and you will find out that  I am still working on the trying to brush it off and move on.  The enemy, Satan, is the great master of getting you to hyper dwell on things you can not go back and change. They are done, behind you. Time to go forward and set things right in the future. Learn from errors or problems. 

What can you do you might ask? First let it go, move on, and above all pray. Then pray some more. Stop dwelling on junk that drags you down. Stop digging your hole even deeper. 

PRAYER: When the issues in my life press in on me sometimes I just want to scream and run and fix things. I know only you can fix things Lord. One thing I can do is pray and spend time with you in the Bible not in a constant state of frenzy over things I can not change. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Cast Your Care On Him


Cast all your anxieties on Him because He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
I am not just preaching to the crowds here but I am writing this for myself right now. I have experienced my Google account being disabled and consequently as of 26 October 2015 had a break in the cycle of my blogs on blogspot and to my email recipients. I was able to copy and post what still showed up on my IPAD screen, but could not access it through my laptop. I was angry. I shed many tears. I did not act very grownup. I did not act like I trusted God to help me through. For the first time in 6 years I was unable to get my writing out nor was I able to check my email. Back to the 'Little House On The Prairie' days I went. It was as if an electronic pulse had shut down electronics. Life will go on and people will go on without my writing but would I survive the momentary lapse?  So truly the verse I gave today has to apply to me and I have to live it out.

Life gives us many tests and this temporary glitch was one of my little tiny trials to see how I handled it. Not so great at first to be honest, but as the day wore on and moved into two days, I came to the realization that life was going to go on one way or the other and fretting and fuming over it changed nothing. What do I tell others to do with similar issues in their life? Trust God and pray. Did I take my own medicine at first? No I did not. Then I made up my mind to resist the enemy and blow it off. Satan was not going to get the upper hand in this battle. 

Where are you today and what trials are you facing in your life? You may feel they will never end but really they will. Hang in there and hang on to God. Been there, done that, got the tee shirt. All things will be okay. 

PRAYER: There is a hymn that says "Only Trust Him, Only Trust Him, Only Trust Him Now" and that is what I intend to do. Help me when I am tempted to run for the hills so to speak to lean on you and know that this too shall pass. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Sit Down Martha!!


As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said.But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”"Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:38-42
There may be readers who struggle with this area of just relaxing and being calm and not fretting if a friend drops by. Proverbs 15:17 always struck me in my journey to just relax and it says "Better a small serving of vegetables with love than a fattened calf with hatred." The 'Becky interpretation' was "it is better to rejoice over hot dogs than to try to wear yourself out cooking filet mignon."
Nowadays, sad to say, I do not think in many places people just drop by. If Jesus were to knock on your door would you get all hyper and say "Sit down here Lord while I go cook?" I think not or hope not. The better thing that Mary chose in the opening verses was to sit at Jesus' feet. This made hyperactive Martha a little bent out of shape but Jesus point was just to 'be still'.
Are you able to just 'sit down' and trust God to help you be content and peaceful?
PRAYER: Lord I thank you that you desire peace and stillness not over activity or trying to impress. Help me in any area of life where I struggle with this. In Jesus' name. Amen.
