May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13This time of year for some brings on forced merriment. Perhaps a person has suffered a loss, a sickness, financial problem, and many other things that don’t make life so hunky dory and certainly not joyful. The reason for the season, pardon the cliche, is in fact Jesus birthday celebration, nothing more, nothing less. Manmade traditions have popped up over the years but it boils down to one thing and one thing only. The birth of a baby in a manger, or in a shed or barn to put it in modern day context.I implore every reader to stop, breathe, get off the ‘must do’ treadmill, sit down and get your Bible and a cup of tea and just think of reasons you are blessed. All of us are you know? Don’t try to make this a perfect Christmas but just be yourself and don’t force anything.PRAYER: Joyful is a nice word and I love feeling that way but sometimes I allow worldly pressure to conform to a standard to make me less than joyful. Help me Lord as I choose to worship you and sit at your feet. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
