The Overcomer

 

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”John 16:33

Things may not look good in the earthly realm but you have a Heavenly Father who has a plan and is totally in control. All things will and do work together for good just like Romans 8:28 tells us. 

You are an overcomer because of the blood of Jesus and the word of your testimony hallelujah! You don’t have to live in fear because in your journey the Lord will be your guide and lead you through the dark seemingly hopeless places. 

Don’t just run to God when things look bad but stay connected so you have peace and can in fact overcome anything that comes your way because Jesus is your Lord. Tell the devil to take a hike as you are a child of God and have no authority over you or your house.

PRAYER: Your name Lord is above all other names. Even when I get my eyes off of the cross and start to sink you are there to rescue me and help me overcome all hurdles in my life. Thank you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Standing In The Gap For Others

 

“I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.” Ezekiel 22:30 (NIV)

To stand in the gap is to be ready to pray for a need or a person and know that God is faithful and hears your prayers. Let’s use the illustration of a broken bridge where you are the one holding the bridge together. 

I have gotten turned on to personal prayer through Moms in Prayer ministry but also through many Bible studies I was in throughout  the years. I stood in the gap against Satan for my children when they were in the womb and still do today in adulthood. Prayer is our shield of faith against the flaming darts of the enemy. 

Many people may be uncomfortable with prayer but all it is is simply talking to God no formal vocabulary just a chat with Abba Father daddy. At times when you are known for being a prayer warrior others get the impression you have a red phone hotline to God whereas anyone can talk to God. Don’t neglect talking to your Father in Heaven every day. I know people who think prayer is silly and don’t pray anymore because someone they knew and loved died and they wonder why didn’t God stop this. Satan loves to keep people uncomfortable with prayer as individuals and couples because then he knows you won’t bother talking to God or even passing it on to the younger generations. Friend lean in to God. He loves you. Make no mistake he is listening, don’t believe Satan’s lies. 

PRAYER: Father I love to pray and sing praises but I know people who won’t pray any time not even at a meal or bedtime. Father use me in the life of anyone I know who refuses to talk to God due to past hurts and I bind the enemy from hurting them in the meantime. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Launch Into The Deep

 







When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch."Luke 5:4

When Jesus’ was first calling his disciples he was teaching from the shore of a lake and told them to go out in deep and catch fish but they told him they had already and never caught anything but they obeyed and nets were so full they almost tore. 

Do you have faith in God that His promises are true and He will rescue us from deadly pestilences and other problems all in his perfect timing? Do you believe His word and study it? You can’t truly have intimacy and a desire for spiritual things and grow unless you read the word but how many well meaning souls just trudge through life acting like a worldly creature enamored more with this present world than with God? 

Maybe it is time to launch out into the deep and go further. Perhaps you live with a person that just doesn’t care to know God better than little tidbits and it may break your heart. Or your grown children have wandered away from the faith and seemingly no desire either. Keep praying. Keep launching your nets out to deeper waters and desire his truths. You will change I guarantee it. Don’t ever start to get lukewarm for you need to keep going into deeper waters on fire for Jesus and winning others to Christ. 

PRAYER: I want to be fearless when it comes to launching out into deeper waters. Help my unbelief when I get scared thinking nothing is going to happen. Give me immovable faith and help me stand strong in the dark days ahead. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Alexa, Set Them Free! Say What?

 



I lift up my eyes to the mountains- where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2

Made you look right? How many cry out for Alexa to help them and never Jesus? Think about how many times a day you call on your electronic devices to help you do things. My if only Jesus got as much attention as that little round speaker found in many homes today.

 

God is your help at all times. If you called on Him like Alexa and as much just think how your life would be different. So many modern day things draw us away from being close to the king of kings. Alexa, Siri, chat rooms, Instagram, FaceTime, zoom, everything seems to get in the way of devoted time of reading God’s word. Did you know you can ask Alexa to play Christian radio or read a Bible verse?

 

Why not today think about what you need to change in your life to have a closer relationship with the Lord? Get your life ordered right so in your to do list daily at a minimum is quiet time with the Lord and making time to pray.

 

PRAYER: Today I come to you asking forgiveness for making you an after thought Lord and for pursuing other things more than you. Help me as I seek to get things in order and prioritized. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Resurrection Day Is Upon Us

 

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who being in the form of God did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And be

during this Easter season.Convict herts that this special day commemorates our savior rising from the dead just as He said He would and this was after a brutal flogging a cross. Let many be set free from coasting through life and have a deep desire to serve you. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Do You Consider Yourself A Fisherman?

“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” – Matthew 4:19

Recently my husband and I both got our Idaho combo hunting and fishing license and look forward to having some fishing times sitting by the stream. I have not really ever fished that much but  am anticipating fun times. 

Did you know all of us who claim to be followers of Jesus are commissioned to be ‘fishers’ of men? So what kind of bait or lures are used? Kindness, love, truth, humility, forgiveness, joy, understanding, and being non judgmental all help build good relationships with people you meet. 

It has been a fun experience living in a brand new subdivision which only was created September of 2019. As new people move in it has been a delight meeting them as we take our early evening stroll. Some relocated locally and then there are transplants from mostly Western states and ourselves from Tennessee and a couple from Chicago. You never know where people are spiritually but be kind and you never know how the Lord will use you. 

PRAYER:Father I want to be a willing fisherman for you keeping my ears open and eyes open to the needs around me. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Easter Bunny Are You For Real.....Not!

 

For this commandment is a lamp, this teaching is a light, and the reproofs of discipline are the way to life. Proverbs 6:23

It amazes me how Christian things are hijacked, watered down, or totally eliminated. It is partly due to a lack of Bible knowledge or even desire for His truth and partly due to no real relationship with the King of Kings as a result of churches in name only who don’t preach the infallible word of God or some folks are Christian but stay home. 

So there is Easter or Resurrection Day I like to refer to it. Bunnies, flowers, baby chicks, spring flowers, but where is the Cross? Oh yes you can buy a chocolate Cross in some stores but really? Then Christmas where do reindeer and sleigh rides and a desire for snow come in with the birth of a the savior in a stable? Then our beautiful rainbow a covenant promise from God and you know what happened to it to the point people are afraid to buy a kite that looks like a rainbow. 

 It is time to get back to basics and by basics try reading a ‘paper’ Bible and carrying in to church with you. Put it on your night stand or end table in your den and not to decorate but pick it up, open it, and read. Even keep one in your car. Satan is a master of keeping Christians away from the word. He is a liar, a thief, a deceiver, a con artist, and he does not care one iota for you but is on a mission to eradicate the truth which is found in the word. But if it is not read it  does little good. How about starting a new habit of reading Galatians first, then Ephesians , only 6 chapters, Philippians and finally Colossians and I call it General Electric Power Company or Gentiles Eat Pork Chops to remember them found in the New Testament. So much good stuff in there. Don’t let the enemy trick you into thinking you don’t need to read it. Just do it!

PRAYER: Oh how I love the word and love to meditate on it day and night. It lightens my load and helps me deal with some much ugliness in this world. Put a desire into people who think they have arrived and don’t need scripture to be hungry for God’s truth. Protect those from Satan’s tricks who currently diss church and The Bible. Awaken those who once were on fire for you Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
