Didn't See It Coming

But the day of the Lord will come  like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare. 2 Peter 3:10

Often times we may be taken by surprise by something or blindsided. Even though we knew the consequence of our actions perhaps they were not taken into account. One example is not saving for the future then ending up with no money expecting the government to bail us out. A person who disregards the guidance for morals found in the Bible and does his or her own thing may end up with a disease, a pregnancy, or death. Warnings are for our own good.

Scripture warns us of consequences of not following Jesus yet many may brush it off. The world can not continue to ignore the commands of God and not have repercussions. Back when I was growing up the Ten Commandments were not banned. Many schools had them clearly posted for all to see. Satan works through people to eradicate any mention of God's word in society. Without moral guidance it is easier for him to lure unsuspecting victims into his trap.

Don't be caught unaware of what is to come. God has warned us. If this were to be your last day are you ready to meet Him and know you would be in heaven? It will happen suddenly so my advice is to make peace with God and ask Him to be your Lord and savior.

PRAYER: I am not unaware of the fact that one day you will come back and those who know you will go to meet you in heaven. Father I pray you will use me Lord to impact the world around me and help me to let my light shine always. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Smile. The Universal Language.

Clap your hands, all peoples! Shout to God with loud songs of joy! Psalm 47:1
As I was waiting for a friend for lunch two young Korean ladies and a baby girl were at a table nearby. When they got up to put their trash in the cans, I smiled at the baby. This little girl gave me a thumbs up. I kid you not. It was so cute to see an infant in a baby carrier do this gesture. The mother kept trying to get him to do it again. She had a sheer look of delight on her face.

Sometimes you may not feel quite up to smiling but there is always someone having a worse day than you are. Maybe your simple smile will cause them to have a better day. Some examples would be elderly people in doctor waiting rooms, a person on a subway or bus, a stranger in church. Be creative and think of ways to bring joy to others by a gift of your smile.

Today why not get your mind off yourself and your day and as you go about see who you can get to smile at you, kind of a fun experiment. A smile says allot.

PRAYER: Thank you Lord for the gift of a smile. Even whenI am feeling gloomy help me to remember a smile will brighten my day and someone else's. In Jesus' name. Amen.
