Under His Wings

He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. Psalm 91:4

I have had the pleasure of being able to witness the hatching of three tiny bird eggs in a nest in one of our front bushes. Through my dining room window I have witnessed the mother bird fly in and feed worms to her young and also completely cover them with her body and wings. These babies will be incapable of flying on their own for a couple weeks so the mother is watching and protecting them until they leave the nest.

God is like that with us. Once we leave his protection by our own choice powers of darkness can envelope us if we are not careful. A human mother can protect her babies and children but once they have ‘left the nest’ hopefully the things taught will ‘stick’ but in many cases they are forgotten or wrong friendships lead them astray.

You can still cover your children with the wings of prayer. Picture yourself putting your wings of prayer over your children, grandchildren, and future children and grandchildren. God cares and hears you. Your prayers work even though you may not feel as if they are doing much. Don’t cave in and fly away from the nest. Keep praying.

PRAYER: Father I thank you for your constant protection even when I have chosen to ignore you and do my own thing. I thank you for your protection for my family. I will not lose hope. I will not listen to Satan’s lies. You are Lord and you protect me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

The Umbrella

He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. Psalm 91:4

A few days ago after several days of drought like conditions here in Northern Alabama and Southern Tennessee it finally rained. Thankfully I carry a spare rain jacket in my car at all times so was prepared. I also have a couple of umbrellas in back of car as a precaution.  I saw many people going in and out of businesses with umbrellas in hand keeping themselves dry from the elements.

God is our umbrella in life. If you strike out on your own without spiritual protection and covering you are not protected. By praying, reading God's word, and doing things that please Him, your life will go allot better. Step out from under God's umbrella then anything is bound to happen. Your are shielded from ungodly elements or at last protected from them when you allow Him to be your covering.

Are you ready to step underneath God's umbrella?

PRAYER: It is so easy to want to run out each day without taking time to have serious prayer or time alone with you. The busyness of the day beckons but help me slow down and realize the most important part of my day is insuring I have my spiritual covering. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Trust God In The Storms

Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 1 Timothy 6:17

Here in my region of the United States, the spring severe storm season is upon us. As I wrote  this a few days ago  I was watching non stop coverage of tornado watches and warnings. My husband and I have been in our underground storm shelter once. When a possible tornado is bearing down on you possessions are the least of your concerns.

Storms can wipe out everything you have in a matter of minutes. Your hope needs not to be on your closet full of clothes, high definition TV, fancy car, or actual home. In times like this basically you pray and wait.

Are you able to let go of Earthly possessions or would you be freaking out if they were destroyed? This is a real test of not being materialistic. Your hope in the storms of life is Jesus Christ. Why not trust Him?

PRAYER: I am very thankful Lord for the peace only you can provide. When the storms of life come whipping up destruction help me stay calm and trust you. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Storms Are Temporary

O God, have pity, for I am trusting you! I will hide beneath the shadow of your wings until this storm is past. Psalm 57:1

I am not afraid of storms but many people are. Storms don't last forever. Many times after a storm a beautiful rainbow appears in the sky and brings a sense of peace and hope.

There are many 'storms' in life too. Some of those 'storms' may bring fear. Terminal illnesses. Bankruptcy. Fear of tyranny in the government. Loss of source of income. Loss of a dwelling due to fire or some other disaster. Issues with a spouse, friend, or other family member that create problems and stress. Rejection. It is how we handle these type of 'storms' that matters.

When the storms of life press in on you is your reaction to panic or can you fully trust God to help see you through till rainbows appear again?

PRAYER: Lord I want to completely let you have any storms that come into my life and guide me through them. Give me the ability to react in the proper way and to above all always to be in prayer and not worry. In Jesus' name. Amen.
