Complainer-Who Me?

 Do all things without grumbling or disputing, Philippians 2:14

If people who know you had to comment on you would they say you are joyful or that you complain and criticize things?

To break that habit you need to get up with a spirit of gracefulness. When you start to whine or grumble stop and think of one thing to give thanks for. 

Pursue peace in all your endeavors. Keep away from situations that will make you into a grumpy grumbler. Instead rejoice in God’s creation and His goodness to you. 

PRAYER: Lord you alone are master, creator, marvelous, wonderful God. Forgive me if I get a complaining spirit. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Control Freak?

A Psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Psalm 23:1-6

Ponder the words of the 23rd Psalm right now. It is for every day living even though most often you see printed in funeral programs. 

Did you know that when you try to control things in your life or manipulate your way into things it is most likely not going to have a good outcome. Being still, dying to self, and trusting God is the formula. 

You may get anxious and fearful as a result of trying to be in control. Self has gotten involved and God and the Holy Spirit are still in your life but you want to be in charge or so it seems.  Step aside and give God the controls again. 

PRAYER: I want to break any strongholds in my life that are trying to put self before trust in you. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Stinking Thinking Epidemic

We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5

Do you ever fixate on something negative and can’t seem to shake it? This is a tool of Satan when he knows your weak points and tries to get you to dwell on them and mull them over and over in your mind. 

Don’t fall for the schemes of the enemy to get your mind falling into negative thinking patterns or thinking things that are not true.  Keep your mind focused on ‘things above’ (Philippians 4:8). 

I suggest don’t dwell on TV, celebrity news, social media, and things that lead you down a wrong path when it comes to thinking. Instead daily open your Bible and read the book of John. Soon hopefully your thought patterns will get squared away. 

PRAYER: Lord help me break the stronghold of negative thinking. I want you in my thoughts and need to cast lies and speculation into a pit and leave them there. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

The Etch A Sketch God

 

For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more. Hebrews 8:12

 

Many adults of my age group may remember the fun toy Etch A Sketch where you draw a picture and then to get rid of it simply shake the toy for a new screen.

 

God is like an Etch A Sketch in that you can do all sorts of horrible stuff hating, lying, betraying, holding grudges, and so forth but yet he simply does what He does and voila your sins are remembered no more.

 

Are there things in your life today you need to give over to God so a relationship is restored?

 

PRAYER: Today Father I ask you open hearts that need healing and help those holding silly grudges let them go. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

What Journey Are You On?

And many peoples will come and say,

“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,

To the house of the God of Jacob;

That He may teach us concerning His ways

And that we may walk in His paths.”

For the law will go forth from Zion

And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

Isaiah 2:3

I just got done watching the movie entitled ‘The Way’ starring Martin Sheen and Emilio Estevez about walking the Camino de Santiago. It was such an impactful movie found on Angel Studios App or Prime. 

The journey of the Camino is a pilgrimage walk/hike taken by thousands for many reasons. What journey are you on in life? Maybe you don’t need to hike hundreds of miles but where is your heart and what are you dealing with?  What do you need to surrender to the Lord? What is on your heart? 

Talk to the Lord. It is not about being religious but about loving God and sharing in prayer that you need Him in your life. 

PRAYER: Father I thank you for helping me and also extending grace and mercy. I lift your name on high and sing your praises. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Touch Of The Master’s Hand

 

But now, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand.Isaiah 64:8

When you hear someone say they received a touch of the Master’s hand what comes to mind? I think of God reaching down and touching our hearts or our earth. 

There are numerous accounts in scripture of Jesus laying hands on people and they received a miracle. Even today hands of believers are laid on people as prayer is taking place. It is like God’s power working through the believer as he or she prays. 

Touch of the Master’s hand could signify divine intervention of healing or a miracle as well. Miracles do still happen and God’s people are at work all over the globe. Also an overwhelming sense of peace is another way you can receive this touch. Go now and be a willing an open vessel for God to work through. 

PRAYER: Lord I seek your face and turn to you not just in trials and troubles but at all times. Use me today to help another. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Drop It, Leave It, Let It Go

 

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.Philippians 4:6-7

Are you sitting around lots overthinking things? It is a discipline to learn to turn off your thought patterns when they start producing negativity in your life.

Let’s say you consistently try to fix things or figure things out and knowing God is the only one in control. Depending on what you are dealing with it can be tough to totally have the faith to rest and have faith that God is working.

Nothing you can say or do will change things and mostly will slow things down. Waiting is hard. Keep praying, believing and trusting that whatever you asked God to help you with is being done. Fretting or imagining scenarios of doom and gloom are Satan’s tools, not God’s. Now go rest and enjoy your day.

PRAYER: Lord I know I need to drop stuff in my life that is hindering my trust in the fact you are working and things will be okay, so help me relax. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
