The Stop It ________List

 

Don’t Hide Your Bad Habits. He who conceals his sins doesn’t prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.Proverbs 28:13

 

My title is blank for you to add your name in and then attempt with Holy Spirits’ direction to make a list of things you need to stop doing and also ways to improve.

 

God will help you transform your bad habits or traits into one’s that glorify God more. If you deep down know you have issues with say interrupting people, causing division, etc now is the time to get a handle on it and bring your life in alignment with God.

 

This is one of those come to Jesus’ moments where you have to really have time alone and ponder for awhile. A spouse might help you if you can resist getting defensive. Just go and think about what you can do to be more like Jesus’ and what habits to change.

 

PRAYER: Oh Lord you are my help today and always. Forgive me for behavior patterns that push people away instead of attracting them to you. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Tickled Ears

 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but having itching ears, they shall heap to themselves teachers in accordance with their own lusts. 2 Timothy 4:3

Who is ‘they’? You hear people say‘they say’ and just who is the ‘they’? 

The ‘they’ in this case is all of us who maybe are ‘asleep at the wheel’ so to speak and are doing your own thing with no thought of death and Heaven. 

People find what makes them feel good and makes them feel they are not that bad and surely upon their death Heaven awaits as “hey I am a good person”. Do you realize that you are waging a war between God and the devil? It is Satan who lures you into the trap of feeling your way is just fine. Wake up now and seek the face of Jesus’ nothing more. Remember this world is not really your home. 

PRAYER: Father I love you and I love to worship you in spirit and in truth. Forgive me when I let the ‘world’ squeeze you out of my day. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Strict Training

 





Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.1 Corinthians 9:25 NIV Bible gateway

Did you know that for  a believer Church is like your gym. I heard this on You tube by Pastor Hughes of Church by the Glades recently. You go there and train but still do more when you get home. You pursue a godly lifestyle. 

 

When an athlete says they need to work out they better go to their gym or they will become out of shape in no time flat. Similarly as a believer if you simply go to church but then don’t apply and out and practice the truth you learn you get spiritually flabby. 

Many confusing voices are in our world today saying what is wrong is right and what is right is wrong. Some twist scripture to justify not wanting to do the hard work of fleeing sin. Others sugar coat things as not that bad. The Holy Spirit brings truth and conviction of sin. Invite Him into your heart today. 

PRAYER: Help me Lord stay on track and recognize wrong voices and those who mean well but spread things God did not really say. Help those I know who need a revival in their life encounter you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

What Do You Need To Run From?

 



Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” 2 Timothy 2:22 

What temptations do you face? Porn addiction, drugs, alcohol, sexual promiscuity,  Facebook posting,

Instagram addictive behavior, too much screen time, lusting after someone, reading violent or trashy novels. Many things can captivate you and lure you away from the one thing that can set you free, Jesus. 

In Hebrews 4:15 it says “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin” Yes Jesus was tempted but never gave in. 

Instead of every night being glued to Netflix or Prime or whatever, do something different. Talk, work puzzles, walk if you live in town, read your Bible. Take up a new hobby. Or just sit on your porch and relax. 

PRAYER: It is too easy to get caught up in bad stuff so sometimes you walk away or just say no. Wrong friends can land you in bad places. Help me Lord keep looking to the cross. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Believe Receive, Doubt Do Without

As it is written: “I have made you a father of many nations.” He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not.Romans 4:17 NIV Bible Gateway

Are you waiting for a breakthrough in some area or maybe it occurred but then Satan stuck his foot in the door? . 

First of all you prayed and you are not the Holy Spirit. Answers will come and changes will occur but perhaps the work is being done on you as well ever think of that. 

Give control back to God and let it go. If you say you believe and trust God then do it. 

PRAYER: Father forgive me when I get stressed and can’t let you have my concerns and trust you are working. I know you are. Prayers for others struggling in this area to let go and Let God!In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God Is Doing Something…Stay Hopeful

“And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.” 2 Kings 6:16

It doesn’t take long to get down in the dumps when your focus is on world issues. I simply do not saturate myself with media who many times feed what they want us to hear. 

The enemy is definitely at work today bringing confusion, heartache, lies, deception, dividing families and friends, and trying to get you to succumb to the things he brings to torment you. 

You can fall for it and stay fearful and miserable or you can choose the joy of the Lord. Joy and happiness are different. Happy is more about self but joy is an inner sense of calm brought by God. Knowing the Lord Jesus Christ brings joy unspeakable and full of glory. Keep looking up! 

PRAYER: This is your day Lord and I rejoice in it. I know you will bring peace in the midst of chaos and fear. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Crippled Thinking A Big No No

 

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2

 

When a person is crippled they are most times unable to walk. I read a devotion recently referring to crippled thinking.Ponder that for a moment. 

If you thoughts and mind are not receiving truth found from the Holy Scriptures daily and are listening to a host of other non stop input it would be easy to wind up in the urgent care for bad thoughts meaning arguing, depression, fear, rebounding into a sinful lifestyles. 

The idea is many people, you included, may think their  life is okay and it is impossible to find time to sit and be still and read God’s word which is our daily medicine or your defibrillator of sorts. Many are loyal to a denomination but not to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. To keep your mind healthy and not on life support get a good dose of the Bible each day without fail. If you don’t many other voices and lies of the enemy will vie for your attention. 

PRAYER: I am thankful I live in a country that is currently still mostly free and help me not to put off a daily quiet time. Help those people who have started neglecting their spiritual workout and have listened to voices of the enemy. Get them back on track. Bring Holy Spirit conviction.In Jesus’ name. Amen.
