"Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. Matthew 6:1
Have you ever attempted to be nice to someone by giving them an unexpected gift or shared something with them only either to have them not want to receive it or be apologetic?
Once I was on my lunch break from work at Fort Knox and eating with several co workers. I happened to comment on one persons huge bright red apple and he says “here take it” and I of course replied “I can’t”. He then says to me “if you don’t take it you will be denying me a blessing.” I have never forgotten that kind gesture which occurred in 1981.
Do you realize you can be a blessing to someone each and every day? A smile. An unexpected kindness. A positive word. A gift. Whatever it is God can and does use you to bless those around you. Go be blessed to be a blessing.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus I am grateful the Holy Spirit shows me ways to bring a blessing to others. Help me not to ever toot my own horn because my blessing is in heaven. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Welcome to God's Lemonade Stand
It is my hope that by reading this daily you will grow in your walk with Christ and knowledge of scriptures and be set free from any struggles in your life that are weighing you down. Be blessed to be a blessing.

To Share Or Not To Share
Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over shall be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured unto you. Luke 6:38
Recently I bought a container of breath mints that had two openings on the lid. One a small opening said "to share" and the other larger opening said "not to Share". This struck me as funny in a society that tends to be all about me, me ,me. This implies take more for yourself and do not give them away.
Many places in God's word we are told about sharing and giving to others. Reaping and sowing so to speak. We should not share to get things but we should share because we know as Christians that is the right thing to do.
Is your heart stingy or is it giving? Remember the things we have are all God's anyway. Now go share something.
PRAYER: Help me open my heart to those in need and even to those not in need just because I want to. I pray for people who are recipients of gifts to be grateful for them and realize it is a blessing from God. In Jesus' name. Amen.

YOUR CHECKBOOK
Your checkbook ledger tells a story. What does yours tell about you? Where do you spend your money in other words? If you were to suddenly pass away and your family and friends saw your check book ledger would it show a kind and generous person or a Scrooge? When we do good deeds we are not to announce them on the street corners it says in Matthew 6:2. Read it for yourself. But in fact, if someone were to see where your money went would you be proud of it or embarrassed?
The money we have is God's anyway. We are not to keep it all to ourselves but then again tyrannical governments are not to come in and confiscate it either pitting the well to do with the poor. It is not the governments money but OUR money. This scenario, I am sad to say, may be transpiring as a result of this last election in the USA, where voters were subjected to class warfare tactics.
As a believer we are not to be jealous of another's wealth. He or she has worked hard for what they have. Those who have not often are envious of this not knowing the whole story. We are to be cheerful givers and as I often say to myself if we can not be cheerful then keep your stinking money. If you have problem hanging on to your wallet too tight then ask God to help you in this area.
2 Corinthians 9:6-7 (NIV) says the following:
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. So today take a look at your checkbook ledger. What story does it tell about where your heart is?
'For where your treasure is there will your heart be also.' Matthew 6:21PRAYER: Lord thanks you for providing for my physical needs. Help me share with others in need. In Jesus' name. Amen.

SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY
Are we tied to our things? Our collections? Special photos perhaps? Maybe a voice mail you are saving or a text from your children or significant other? What happens when these things are lost or destroyed? Do you fall apart or go on with life? Basically falling apart does not help as we have no control over the situation. Just as in the tornado's here in the Southeast on 27 April, families lost nearly everything. Not being willing to part with things or having to save every last thing may qualify you to not only be on 'Hoarders' TV show but really is not a good thing. It is best to downsize and simplify your life and have less chaos and confusion as a result of 'stuff'. It says in scripture in 1 Corinthians 14:33 that "God is not the author of confusion" and perhaps this could mean the confusion surrounding the tons of things we think we can not live without? Something to think about. The more we have the more headaches we incur usually. How many things do we really need and how many collections are important?
Let's say you buy something you can not afford anyway, then only use it maybe one time. A good example is a boat. If boating is not your 'passion' you probably are not going to use it that much. You may have wanted one cause it looked fun or maybe someone else had one you were trying to keep up with? Maybe you can not stand not having a certain article of clothing and you buy it and it really does not make you happier and just adds to clutter in your closet. You save things you think you can not do without. How many of us think we have to buy each movie we really like and how many times do you watch it? Thus the DVDs and old VHS tapes pile up.
Maybe a good trip to thrift store is in order. I recently threw out many VHS tapes I had made back in the 80's of shows I thought I would watch again. They were sitting in the attic in boxes waiting for my family to have to go through when I died some day. Why not rid yourself of 'sentimental things' you do not need now? "Wait it may be worth something" you say. I am not saying to trash your school yearbooks and photos or your valuable Barbie doll or GI Joe collection but to ask yourself what you really do not need to have.
Why do we feel compelled to save old magazines and newspapers for instance? Why do you have to save every book you ever read? Now is the time with the new year to get your life in order both on spiritual level and a level of organization. Be a good steward of things God has blessed you with and share things you have too much of. You know someone who needs a coat and you have way too many coats? Give it to them. I think the scriptures even say that. Hebrews 13:16 for instance says "Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God." So many things we just seemingly do not want to get rid of for whatever reason. I for one do not want to be a candidate to be on the show 'Hoarders' I mentioned in an earlier paragraph. Philippians 2:4 says "Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others." Do you have something extra you can share with someone in need? Even something hard to give up perhaps? That would even be more of a sacrifice.
Start today to end the 'sentimental junk journey' and to see what valuable treasures you have that you could share with others. Do not give someone your old junk as you would not want old junk either. But if you have things still in good shape just sitting around go help someone. Call a charity to see if they need a donation. Do you have extra furniture? There may be a family who needs it who just can not afford things.
1 John 3:17 says"But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?"
Do what you can today to help simplify your life and to add to the life of another. You will both feel good.
PRAYER: Lord help me see what I have that I do not need that could help someone else out. Help me not be selfish if I know of someone who needs something and I have the means to help them. Give me a sharing heart. In Jesus Name. Amen.

A HEART TO GIVE
Would you eat lunch at McDonalds but go across the street and pay at Kentucky Fried Chicken? No of course not. But that is what many folks do when it comes to giving. You like what a certain ministry does for instance but never bother supporting them. You are being 'fed' but you are not feeding them so to speak. Maybe during this Christmas season is a good time to take stock of that.
This time of year it seems everyone is in a giving mode. Charities abound to collect toys, canned goods, meals, and just plain ordinary cash to help those less fortunate. The Angel Tree ministry supports children of those incarcerated in prison so their children can try to have a nice Christmas. But you see the point is to give with a heart that wants to give. Many ministries take money in honor of or in memory of someone as well which is an awesome way to 'sow a seed' and remember a loved one in the process. I think of Mercy Flight or Angel Flight which some dear friends of mine had to use when their son was being flown for chemo treatments in Houston. Then there is Make A Wish Foundation as well. There are many worthy causes to give to. USO takes care of the soldiers and once someone actually gave me a card and an ornament at Christmas and said a donation had been made in my honor to the USO since I was a veteran and military family member. This made me cry. Donate Bibles in someones' name to Gideons. These are just some ideas.
There are those who may give only to get tax write off but the Bible says God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7 says "Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." This verse says to not give under compulsion or perhaps meaning not out of a guilty spirit. When you do give you are not supposed to go announce it to everyone and prove how wonderful you are. Matthew 6:2 says "so when you give to the needy do not announce it with trumpets".
Deuteronomy 15:10 says "Give generously to him and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the LORD your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to." Proverbs 11:25 says "A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed". You help others and you will be helped someday when you have a need. The law of reaping what you sow.
Luke 6:38 says "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." We should not just give a tithe to church because we have to but because we want to!! Churches are often criticized for always asking for money. Perhaps they would not if people were cheerful givers and did what scriptures told them to do.
Proverbs 3:9-10 says "Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine." Also in Proverbs 11:24 it says "One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty."So you hang on to your stuff and what blessing is that?
So where is your heart this Christmas season? Are you ready to be a giver all year round?
PRAYER: Lord I want to share and bless others because you have blessed me. Help me to not hang on to my wallet so tight that I am not able to share. Give me a heart to give. In Jesus name. Amen!

GIVE ALL THE TIME
The Christmas season is just around the corner. At this time of year everyone seems to get nice. Toys for Tots, Samaritans Purse Shoe Box ministry and Salvation Army are busy collecting for worthy and needy families. There are 'coat campaigns' here locally to help those who are cold and do not have a coat.WAY FM locally has their "Christmas prayers". Food banks provide Christmas dinners to families in need. Much much more goes on. It always strikes me as odd that everyone gets nice at Christmas. These needy people are needy the other 364 days too. Whether they are truly needy or mooching off society is not the question. Let God deal with hearts there. We are to give and be kind to others regardless.
Matthew 25:35-40 says in a nutshell "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
So where is your heart today? Your checkbook should tell the story of your life and how generous you are. Look at yours today and see where your money is going and how much of it goes for 'kingdom purposes'. It is time to say thanks to the Lord for what we have then find a way to meet another's need whether it is Christmas or not.
PRAYER: Thank you Lord for blessing me. Help me to bless others. Show me someone who needs some help and help me meet that need. In Jesus name. Amen.

YOUR MONEY OR GOD'S MONEY?
Many people when they go to work say this is "my money"or "my paycheck". Is that really true? Even in some marriages the breadwinner, who in most cases is still the male, may think it is his money but when you say "I do" you have a shared joint life which includes a 'joint' checking account with your wife. She is not to be treated disrespectfully or like a second class citizen and the two should have a plan for how money is spent. It is the source of lots of major conflicts in marriages. For a man to make a stay home mom feel she is not earning, so therefore, it is not her money too, is wrong. Marriage means equal and a man and a wife. Trust is necessary and commitment. But the point is that the money is really not who earns it but it belongs to God anyway. We are to be good stewards of what God has given us. If we have an abundance too then hopefully you would share with those experiencing a need through no fault of their own.
Deuteronomy 8:18 says "But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your forefathers, as it is today."
1 Samuel 2:7 says " The LORD sends poverty and wealth; he humbles and he exalts." Proverbs 10:22 says "The blessing of the LORD brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it."
Matthew 6:24 says "No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money." When God blesses you with money make sure to give him some back. Malachi 3:10 says " Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it."
Luke 6:38 says " Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
Enjoy the blessings God has given you but do not keep it all to yourself. Remember it is his anyway. So next time you see a person in need and you give money to them or something to help them through their hard time be sure to give God the glory as it is not your money anyway.
PRAYER: All I have is yours Lord. Sometimes I tend to forget that. Forgive me when I have used my money for things that would not please you. Help me to not abuse credit cards and give me the ability to not buy things I do not need. Help me have a more generous heart and a cheerful giver heart. In Jesus Name. Amen!

BLESS OTHERS
Several years ago I commented on a co workers' big beautiful red apple that was in their lunch box as a few of us gathered at Ft Knox to eat lunch. This person says to me, "Here take it!" I said" I can not take that, it is yours." The person replies "if you do not take this you are denying me a blessing." I have never forgotten that.
When you share what God has blessed you with you are truly blessing the other person. Everything we have is from Him anyway. James 1:17 says "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows." In Luke 6:38 it says "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."
Do you have food you could share with someone hungry? Does a friend need to borrow a car and you have a spare? Some people are blessed with an 'extra vehicle'. Perhaps you own a camera and a friend does not so you loan yours to them to use for a special event. Do you have lots of coats in your closet and you know someone who needs one? Why not share? Don't be stingy. All this belongs to God. He is the one who has blessed us with the ability to gain wealth. We are only stewards of it here on earth. Maybe you have a extra sofa you are not using in your garage that is in good shape and someone needs one. Consider donating it and 'blessing' them. Once you start loaning things or giving things away it makes you feel good.
I just love 'Extreme Home Makeover' on TV where a family, in some sort of need, is given a brand new mortgage free home usually donated by a local builder. The recipients are crying and shouting "oh my gosh" after the crowd shouts "move that bus!" to reveal the finished product. A brand new home would be a fantastic blessing for a family!
Sometimes human nature makes it hard to part with our 'stuff' especially if it is of high monetary value. God's nature says to share. Here in the Madison County, Alabama a local Christian radio station, WAY Fm, has something they call 'The Drive Thru Difference' where you pay for the car behind you at the drive thru and hand the clerk a note, unsigned, that says " I just paid for you no strings attached just because", or something to that effect. The person who receives this may be having a horrible day and God spoke to you maybe and said "why not pay for that guy behind you?" How cool is that to be able to bless that way and to get that blessing?
Proverbs 19:17 says " He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward him for what he has done." The person may not be literally poor but have a need at the time that you are able to meet. Don't hoard your blessings and don't just give old worn out stuff you would not want. A church youth group out in Arizona was having a lock in one night and was told to bring canned goods for the local food shelter. Some teens brought things they did not like from home such as succotash, creamed corn, canned tomatoes, and other items. What happened, I was told, is that it was time to eat and as a teaching point whatever the young person had brought to donate, they ate that night. So those with cans of beef stew, good soup, tuna, and other good things were okay but the succotash was not a real treat. The point was learned by the teens that evening I would venture to say.
Are you able to bless someone? What is stopping you? You never know how your kindness will affect someones life.
PRAYER: Lord help me find ways to be a blessing to those people in my life and to strangers as well. Give me a generous and content spirit. In Jesus name, Amen!
