Be Very Still

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
1 Peter 5:8-9

An erratic mouth, loose lips, excessive need to chatter can wind up in a bad way for you when instead stillness and an extra measure of patience is required. I believe Satan loves to get you in a frenzy over deadlines, what if’s, and a host of other seemingly important things.

Just think if you don’t exercise a calm spirit you could rush into business deals and end up making terrible mistakes. Today’s verse speaks of resisting the devil and compares this ugly creature to a roaring lion looking for his next meal.

Friend don’t allow an impulsive spirit to cause you to fall into the pit of premature thinking and huge mistakes. Consistently in the Bible is the theme of peace and stillness not jumping up and deciding stupid regretful things. So brother and sister lean in to the savior, pray, be still and wait on God.

PRAYERS: Lord I thank you that you are there for me 24/7 and forgive me when I allow the demons of darkness to torment me only because I wasn’t meditating on your word and promises. Help me stay on the path that leads to victory. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Wasting Time By Being Still....NOT!

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Mark 1:35

In our modern culture seems a person is made to feel guilty for resting or doing nothing. Down time is actually good for you. To constantly schedule activities gives you little time to stay healthy and also robs your time with God each day.

Recently I had a day where I simply let the day progress by itself. Now if you work full time granted this would be difficult to do. On days like this just enjoy the quiet unless of course you are a stay home mom and to those I say “God bless you for what you do” as it is best career field ever by far.

Try to break away from the world that makes you think you need to stay on a tread mill to have worth and value. Give it a try.

PRAYER: I am very thankful for every minute in the day and every breath I breathe Lord and I ask you to help me be a good steward of this time while on Earth. I pray for young moms at home around the clock to feel very valuable cause society would try to demean them. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Lethargic?

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15

Do you ever wake up and know you need to get into the Bible and have a quiet time but frankly don’t know where to start? You may think of sister or brother Suzy or Sammy Q who you have heard spends an hour in prayer daily and another hour studying the Bible and then you feel so out of it and just want to go back to bed.

Comparison is from the enemy. There is no magic morning formula that makes you the perfect Christian example. Everyone is different. What works for one may not work for you.
The important thing is to do it! Wake up and thank God for the day He has given you then just sit and breathe in his goodness and breathe out your problems and concerns.

Don’t start beating yourself up because you think you don’t ‘pray right’ or something similar. Or maybe you promised to pray for someone and totally forgot then guilt consumes you. Been there don’t that got the ‘I forgot’ tee shirt. The important thing is to do it before you start reading the paper or watching morning shows which will do NOTHING for your inner man. Wake up and whatever date it is read the corresponding Proverb since there are 31 of them. Journal some thoughts. And pray.

PRAYER: Many times I allow the enemy to creep in and start making me feel I am not doing my quiet time ‘good enough’ so I start to feel bummed. I know this is a tool of the devil to stop me entirely and I will not. I ask you help me break the stronghold of lethargy and comparison that may have taken root in my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
