There are different types of fear. Some are healthy and some unhealthy. Recently I was in Dallas, Texas which has seemed to be in the news a good deal because of the Ebola scare. I was in the airport but I was not fearful. Ebola is a deadly disease but we can not be thinking we are going to contract it just because we flew in a plane to Dallas. Some people are deathly afraid of a thunderstorm. Other fears would be fear of snakes or perhaps a bear attack. What better time to discuss fear than on Halloween.
Fears can paralyze you to the point you stay inside your house. But then you might be afraid your roof will cave in. The point being life can not be led by being fearful of every turn you make. You will drive yourself crazy being afraid of everything. At Halloween people seem to delight in scaring others. Vampire and murder movies abound in the movie theaters. Some say it is a holiday for Satan since occult activities seem to be prevalent more at this time as well. Sometimes people think fear is fun but it can border on being a problem where the individual needs to seek out counseling.
Whatever your fear, know that you can unlearn fears and have God's perfect peace. A life of fear keeps you from fully trusting God to take care of you. Why not run to Him today and trust Him to lead you and guide you through the things that normally would make you run and hide?
PRAYER: When I am afraid I will trust in you Lord. I have my strength and my hope in you and the enemies schemes will not paralyze me with fear. In Jesus' name. Amen.
