Note:(For Saturday..sent early)
Yesterdays devotion was on the power of negative words or not thinking before we blurt something out. Today it is the opposite, saying nice and pleasant things. Your words should be like a honeycomb (Proverbs 16:24). They should bring happiness to the one who hears you. Be careful to not cut and criticize. "A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver."(Proverbs 25:11)
Is your speech gracious? (See Ephesians 4:29). Do you talk kind to everyone? Just like negative words have a stinging effect on the listener so too do pleasant words have an uplifting effect.Victims of verbal abuse will tell you it is hurtful, painful and not fun at all. Words of praise, thanksgiving, comfort, healing, prayer, adulation and adoration, now that is what we need! Think before you speak. How much nicer to receive pleasantries than harshness. "Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone."(Colossians 4:6)
PRAYER: Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in your sight oh Lord my strength and my redeemer. Amen. (from Psalm 19:14)
