March Is Mad Again

My  dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak.. James 1:19

Here we are again another sports season and yet another opportunity to use it for writing. March Madness, Sweet 16, the Final Four. The spirit of sport is alive but yet don’t forget God’s spirit The Holy Spirit is here too. 

As for being mad, you know sports can get heated, rivalries even exist off the court. It is fun if your favorite team makes it to the Sweet 16 even if you aren’t a sports nut. Be kind, be hospitable. If a harsh word is spoken don’t get back and utter ugliness too. 

Love one another is the underlying thing all of us are called to do. Forgive hurts you have incurred. Maybe you are in God’s training ground to develop your spiritual muscles. Be happy and go crazy for Christ. 

PRAYER: I am grateful for rough spots in my life because they help me grow. Help me Lord to get excited about Heaven and enjoy life but remember to not get to attached to the world. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

BS=Belief System

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. John 14:1

When you hear or see the two letters ‘BS’ you probably think of a naughty word or phrase but my BS is Belief System. What do you believe in? What makes you thrive? What gives you hope? 

Belief system is described in the dictionary as a set of principles or tenets which together form the basis of a religion, philosophy, or moral code: "the ancient Greek belief system". When I hear the word  belief system I say what is yours?  Give that some serious thought. 

Believers are not to believe in one world government or have their belief system rooted in what a misguided college professor tried to get you to buy into. 

Instead if you follow Christ you yearn for Him and His word and you keep praying for His kingdom come His will be done. Seek truth found only in Christ. 

PRAYER: Father my heart yearns for you in this dry and weary land. I ache when I see the division and confusion Satan is causing. Make me aware of the deceit and tricks of the enemy. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Don’t Force Doors Open-Trust God

The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeks him. Lamentations 3:25

It is sure hard to wait isn’t it? Especially for change in something you have prayed about and supposedly gave it to God then you get anxious and want to help things along. I have been tempted and caved many times but am working on it. Trusting God. How about you?

Perhaps God is wanting to do a work in you too while he works things out about person you lifted up on prayer. Trying to teach trust, stillness, mercy, and things like that. Be still. Breathe in, breathe out. 

Each and every day start it with prayer and praise to God. Open the book of Psalms and read verses. Hide God’s word in your heart and then your mind can help you remember scripture in time of need. Don’t trust in man, don’t trust in church theology, don’t trust in angels, but put your trust and hope in God. 

PRAYER: Father when I don’t know why things are not happening help me be still and not try to fix stuff. I know you have a great plan for those who wait. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

The Poison Finger Saga

 

 “Gentle words bring life and health; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.”Proverbs 15:4

Have you ever had issues with being on your devices too much to either the point of texting  something you wish you had not done. Or issues with Facebook or Instagram? I have and my spouse says I have a ‘poison’ finger which needs to be controlled. I am working on it. 

Sometimes texts drive people nuts and I sadly have been guilty of blowing up someone’s phone or not waiting for a response. The finger is kind of like your tongue as it pecks away on the keyboards without any thought or control. The military has a saying ‘loose lips sink ships’.

The poison finger can also take away from time with friends or family as I recently witnessed a young girl at a coffee shop begging her grandma for time as grandma never looked up from her phone and when she did seemed disturbed. So folks think before you text. Maybe try a call or if out of town introduce your children to snail mail. Now go bless someone. 

PRAYER: Father I need help to break stronghold of texting. Yes it is a stronghold for many. Give me strength to put it down and not take it everywhere. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Stop Shaking Head And Trust God

 

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; in all your ways know him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Let’s say you have continually prayed for breakthrough for a family member and months go by and nothing happens then you hear about bad junk and just find yourself shaking your head as if to say “why Lord”. 

You may be doing so well ignoring Satan’s attempts to get you to worry but then the mind goes South so to speak and you may find yourself in tears or wishing you could hang on. 

In the 2022 faith based movie ‘Redeeming Love’ the lead character Michael Hosea played by British actor Tom Lewis was having a similar dilemma when his wife Angel played by actress Abbie Cowan ran away for three years and in 1850 there aren’t phones and such. He wanted to go get her and he prayed “Help me hang on Lord. Help me trust you.” Eventually his patience was rewarded. I think of this much when I am trying to not be impulsive and not wait for God. What do you need to trust God for? 

PRAYER: Lord I need strength to hang on be patient and not say something stupid. I want to let you do your miracles as I trust you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Out Of The Blender, Into God’s Arms

 

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.John 16:33

 

Do you ever feel like you are whirling around inside of a blender in a frenzy and just wish you could stop? Maybe you had a stupid argument that should have never happened. You lost your peace and just feel scattered. 

First take a deep breath and exhale. Do it again. Talk to God. Tell Him you need Him. Put on some praise music and just relax. 

Maybe you will have to give up trying to be right or getting the last word if that is what issue is. Know God loves you and He wants your soul to be quiet. Tell God how much you love Him and need Him. 

PRAYER: Father at times I get agitated or upset and normally it is when I haven’t spent much time in the word and truly put you first. Help me learn to be still. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God Is Greater

 

“Great is our Lord and abundant in strength; His understanding is infinite.”Psalm 147:5

God is greater than your bank account. God is greater than your possessions.God is greater than elections. God is greater than a lost job.

 

In other words it is a waste of time and energy to fret over things that don’t matter knowing God is way bigger than all that. Trust in Him and leave your problems with Him.

 

Know God is God and His enemies will be scattered. God keeps his promises.

 

PRAYER: Thank you that I can trust in you. When I get scared over human scenarios help me know you are God. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
