The 'Lite' Bible

Study to show yourself approved to God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15
Seems like life offers us many choices for shortcuts and easy ways to do things. For instance when losing weight those ads with a magic pill to burn fat seem attractive to many. Sometimes shortcuts can get you into trouble such as when driving and thinking a shorter way is better then you wind up lost.
Do you ever wish there was a quick way to get your Bible reading done? You have so much to do so let's get on with it right? The 'lite' Bible might be a catchy title which I do not think exists, but is it really a good idea? Even when I write my 'sips' daily it is not with the intent that is all I want the reader to do but to get your day started and get you hungry for more. A bug gulp if you will.
Does 2017 need to be the year you reevaluate your love and commitment to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords? Do you need to plan your day around Jesus and not the other way around? Don't let Jesus end up being only a shortcut but make Him the priority in your daily activities.
PRAYER: Lord I have been guilty at times of not spending quality and quantity time with you or have allowed other things that are not even important to squeeze you out such as that all important TV show, checking Facebook statuses, or reading a magazine article. Forgive me Lord and help me search my heart for ways to be closer to you. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Eyes In The Sky

But each one is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desires. Then when desire conceives, it gives birth to sin, and when sin is full grown, it gives birth to death. Do not be led astray, my dear brothers and sisters. James 1:14-16
Occasionally I like to relax on my back porch looking off in the distance towards Huntsville International Airport. It is about 30 minutes as the crow flies whatever that means. I have this great app called ATC where I can listen in to the Air Traffic Control towers of many airports.
These 'eyes on the sky' are crucial in bad weather, limited visibility, emergencies, and just insuring skies stay safe and no planes collide midair. Believers are given eyes on the spiritual skies by reading the word of God and heeding His voice. Going our own way and acting like we know more than our Maker can lead to serious consequences.
Are you tuned in and paying attention to God?  When you know what is right do you do the opposite anyway? Don't be headed for a crash landing in your life. Deep down when you know what is right why not listen to God and not be enticed by the enemy.
PRAYER: I choose to listen to your voice and heed your warnings to stay on the course you want me on. Give me strength for any challenges that lie in my path. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Don't Just Look At It!

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15
How many of you have started an exercise program only to just let the weights you bought just sit there on the floor or the exercise bike collect dust? Exercising our spirit is also important yet how many intend to start getting up early and start having a quiet time only to have the Bible gather dust or the news take priority over God?
Discipline in life is needed. Discipline to arise from bed daily to be on time for work or school. Discipline to control anger. Discipline to not overeat before you get obese or have a health issue. Life takes discipline and a 'can do' attitude. Discipline is needed for a daily time with the Lord too. You make time in life for what is important so surely our savior should be up there on the top of your list.
What do you need to do with your daily schedule to insure that you spend time each day in the Bible? Just something to think about. Have a blessed day and go be a blessing to others.
PRAYER: Lord you are good all the time and all the time you are good. I thank you for the ability to own many Bibles when in some countries they can't even have them. I want to make my schedule around you and not the other way around. In Jesus' name. Amen.
