Climb And Maintain

Finally, be strong in the LORD and in his mighty power. Ephesians 6:10

When pilots fly airplanes, especially jet pilots,  they climb to a certain altitude,  normally 35000 feet, and maintain that as long as weather and winds  permit. Everything is going well so off the plane cruises at altitude.

In your walk with the Lord you need to climb and maintain as well as you can. Stuff is going to happen. No one is promised a perfect problem free life after accepting Christ and at times it is hard to not crumple up into a crying heap and say why me? All of us have probably experienced this feeling. I know I have many times. The thing is you don’t want to stay there. A plane will not get to its destination unless it continues to climb and maintain and proceed on course.

Your life will have its ups and downs and know God is right there with you. Of course Satan and his demons try to throw a monkey wrench into things and get you messed up so that is why it is crucial to stay on your knees and in the word and don’t allow the enemy to get to you. You are victorious now and forever with the power of Jesus Christ!!

PRAYER: Lord I am so thankful I have the power through you to defeat the lies the enemy throws at me. Give me your strength when I am weak. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Note: Title idea for today came from a comment I heard from Tyler Perry, speaking on Trinity Broadcasting Network.

CHARGE ON!!

I have enjoyed watching the Winter Olympic games both the set backs and the glory. It is agonizing to see a defending champion lose their crown and have to eat a bit of humble pie. Snow conditions were not ideal during the Half Pipe competition on 11 February and many stumbled. What a let down for athletes who have trained for this moment and on international television do not rise to the occasion.

Life is like an athletic competition in some ways. We lose or fall and have to get back up and keep on going. Struggles may overwhelm but in Gods word it says to press on, run the race to win, keep looking up. Persevere knowing who is there to help and what the prize is going to be.

Are you weighed down by something right now and sometimes feel like giving up? Keep looking straight ahead as if the finish line was right there and Jesus was waving at you. I guarantee you would run with all your might towards his open arms.

1 Corinthians 9:24 tells us 'Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.'

PRAYER: Lord I look to you Lord as my ultimate prize. Things in life may get me down but I know my hope is in you and not in people or situations. I choose to run to win. In Jesus' name. Amen.

OLYMPIANS! NOW THERE IS DEDICATION!

We in the world are now enjoying the summer Olympics from London and  in awe of the athletic feats of these dedicated athletes. For an athlete to even get picked for the team and then to reach the podium for one of three medals takes a life of hard work, sacrifice, discipline and dedication. You do not become world class by doing something half way.It takes  dedication!
Athletes on a minor scale have to stay fit for the sports they enjoy . You can not just sit on a couch  for months and months then expect to get up and go complete a 10k race. It just will not happen. Discipline and dedication are the keys.

If only we could be as dedicated and devoted to our Bibles and knowledge of Jesus as we were to other things we like whether it is sports, working out, a hobby, or your job. Just think if you were to have a passion for Christ and want to know him better there would be no stopping for winning the gold medal of sorts in your spiritual life. You would be able to better cope with struggles that are bound to come your way.

1 Corinthians 9:24 says "do you not know that in a race all runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. "  I like to run and used to run in lots of races and would always focus on what was ahead of me and not the people behind me. Keep looking towards the finish line of life and not turning around and rehashing the past. Stay focused on Jesus.

Let me leave you  with a verse from Isaiah 40:31 which says " they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not be weary they shall walk and not faint."

PRAYER: Lord Jesus I want to be trained in Godliness and not be a flabby Christian. Help me to utilize the  tools at my disposal, such as my Bible to learn more about you and how to live a Christian life. I know Satan will get me to make excuses for not picking it up daily but I resist him in The name of Jesus as he has no power over me. In Jesus name. Amen.
