Many people are familiar with the verses in the Bible about the storm where Jesus calmed the sea. ( See Mark 4:35-41)In life storms will come but we can not just 'stop rowing' but we have to press on to gain the victory. Just as in a race if you are in last place you do not just quit but you keep going, charging on.
Is there a storm in your life you wish would calm down or totally disappear? Have you taken your eyes off Jesus and put them instead onto the storm? Do you feel like giving up? God is with you whether you feel like it or not and he cares how you finish in life. It is not his desire that you just give in and quit when life gets hard. Keep rowing and row some more!!
In an actual storm, such as a tornado, massive destruction often occurs. Sometimes we get so fearful of the dark clouds in life and just freeze in our tracks. Even if the storm has blown your property all over the place you have to keep on going. You can not live on a heap of lumber in your yard. Life goes on and so do you.
Trials and storms are never fun. We just want to go through life trouble free. But it is through those trials that we gain strength to build our character. James 1:2-4 says "Consider it pure joy my brothers and sisters when you face trials of many kinds, because you know the testing of your faith produces perseverance . Let perseverance finish its' work so you may be mature and complete lack to lacking anything."
Is your 'storm' a wayward child, broken marriage, overdue bills, pending lawsuit, time in jail, alcoholism or drug addiction, estranged family member? Whatever it is lean on Jesus as the dark clouds will leave and the sun will shine again. Keep praying, keep believing, keep trusting, and keep rowing.
