This Is My Country

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1

Back in junior high I was in a choir that sang the song ‘This is My Country’ and it’s lyrics have stuck with me to this day. Freedom is a priceless commodity here in these United States and as the late 40th President Ronald Reagan said “freedom is only one generation from extinction” and that is not a statement to be taken lightly. Evil men and women are always lurking to try to steal the American dream.

On this day in 1941 the Japanese did a surprise attack on the naval fleet at Pearl Harbor thus provoking the US into World War 2 which had begun in 1939. If we are not on guard daily as citizens and a country, this could in fact happen again.( Remember the Twin Towers on 1 September 2001.) Obviously not from the Japanese but anti American forces who despise liberty, truth, Christianity, and freedom.

What can you do? Pray for your leaders. Don’t hate those you disagree with or who are doing evil but pray the Holy Spirit would grab their hearts and transform them. Demonic forces are behind the evil not a human man. Don’t wish evil on anyone but pray for God to do His work. Speak up when you see something not right. Above all thank the Lord daily for your gift of freedom and for the ‘greatest generation’ who answered the call to protect and defend our country in World War 2 and for those service members still serving.

PRAYER: Thank you for freedom. I lift up our President to you and His cabinet as they daily make crucial decisions for our nation. I pray for morality to return to this land. I pray for God to be first place in all areas of government. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Hurt, Assumptions, Moving On

But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. Matthew 5:44

Don’t let wrong thoughts be your dwelling place. I have to keep ‘writing on’ because I don’t want to keep being a pit dweller. Perhaps when I heal myself I too can help others get some relief if you too experience this.

May I first applaud those not on Facebook because social media is a huge source of dwelling in the wrong places. You are not a mind reader and there is no way you know what anyone is thinking. Don’t even go there. Lift the name of Jesus’ higher than the issues you are dwelling on. Only Satan wants you to grovel and become incapacitated for The Kingdom.

Let stuff go, be still, and be quiet. God loves you and that is all that matters. Go shine for Jesus!

PRAYER: Lord my stronghold is in my mind and thoughts and I know you are much greater than any strongholds. I choose to run hard after you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Embrace Where You Are...Age Wise

Love and faithfulness keep a king safe; through love his throne is made secure. The glory of young men is their strength, gray hair the splendor of the old. Proverbs 20:28-29

If you live an average life span you will be around for a while. So many people get caught up with the number of how old they are. You turn 31 and freak out. Get to 40 even worse. Then look out for 50 and beyond.

Why dread your age. Be thankful for each year and each spot and wrinkle that pops up.
Every person is valuable in God’s eyes even though when you reach a certain number you may feel like your life is over. Only if you don’t change your attitude it is. If you are young respect those who have a few years on you. You could in fact learn from them. If you are ‘getting up there’ in years, don’t check out of society or having fun. You have lots to give and much fun to have. Keep learning.

Today look in the mirror and praise God for who He created you to be no matter what your chronological age. To God Be The Glory!

PRAYER: I thank you Lord for my life and every year of it I have lived. Help me continue to shine for you no matter how old or young I am. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Information Overload

He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Quiet! Be still!" Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. Mark 4:39

Have you ever felt like your head was going to explode what with the world around us being so tech oriented? Then there is social media and need I even have to address that. You can have a much more relaxed peaceful life without the constant bombardment of 24-7 news and information. And when you ‘stalk’ Facebook what good does it bring you? Each person has to be honest with themselves and set boundaries.

Honestly ask yourself how much time do you spend reading others opinions in newspaper, watching TV, or glued to Facebook or other outlets. Why is it even necessary? Try an information break. Go for a walk, without your phone,  unless you are waiting for Wheel of Fortune call back like I was recently. LOL. Watching people in waiting rooms and airports makes my neck hurt as everyone seems to be looking down at the almighty screen.

Today purpose in your heart that you will let go of others opinions on stuff. Realize Jesus is Lord and God controls the universe. If you are tempted to ‘go low’ on your social media may I suggest to take the high road which exalts Jesus so much more and causes less stress and anger. Let God handle the little battles and trust Him.

PRAYER: Lord I want my information overload to be of you or in other words getting filled to overflowing with your word and the Holy Spirit. I will let you handle others and help e respond with grace to those who are ugly then let it go. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Me And My Big Mouth

May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14
Anyone out there have trouble with their mouth, the words they say or don’t say?  Once something pops out it can’t not be taken back. If this is a weak area of yours join the club.

Perhaps you have been on the receiving end of hurtful or hateful words. Takes some tough skin to put up with some of it. God can give you the grace to endure but no one deserves to be verbally beaten up or abused. Pray for the person who is lashing out at you with their tongue to be convicted of it. If you have the issue with not being careful with what you say God can help you as well.

Today purpose in your heart to extend grace. Also to think before you speak. Maybe somethings are best left unsaid. God gave you the gift of speaking to others but use it wisely.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus I want and need your help to use my mouth for good and not bad. I don’t want to cause hurt or confusion by what I say. Give me strength Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Synced With Jesus?

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20
You sync all your devices. Watches, iPads, notebooks, phones, but how about syncing yourself with Jesus? Are you with him and connected 24/7!

To be in sync you know his heart and have the mind of Christ. To do this sync up it is necessary to stay in the word of God and be in tune with Him. You can’t sync up when your mind and heart don’t even care about Him except only  on Sunday. You aren’t born a Christian but it is something you need to desire.

How about it, do you want sync up with Jesus today! It is the best thing you will ever do.

PRAYER: I love you Lord and I don’t want to get caught up in my electronics and fiddling with all of them syncing this and syncing that when in fact my heart needs to be continually synced up with you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Grumbled?

Instead, they grumbled in their tents and refused to obey the LORD. Psalm 106:25

It sure is easy to be a grumbler. Instead of counting your blessings maybe you slip into a critical mode every now and then.

Think about what you have not what you don’t have. Think about the ways your life has impacted others. Think about the freedoms you enjoy. Perhaps start  a list of a blessing a day. Don’t allow yourself to free fall into complaining.

Today know that God is with you every step of your way. Your journey is not over. There is always someone worse off than you. Look around and see ways you can reach out and bless others.

PRAYER: Lord I am so grateful and forgive me when I have grumbled and complained. I am blessed and I thank you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
