An 8 year journey is about to end because today our youngest graduated from medical school at 1 pm today. I have kept an empty nest journal and documented things about both our sons and was reading it over in my hotel room last night. Reading this brought back a flood of memories. I journaled both high points and lows and prayers for future.
Today I am giving praise and thanks to the Lord for what he has done in our sons lives. The good and the bad together help make up life. I recommend this as great therapy just writing down your random thoughts and prayers and then look back on it some day. You do not have to be a writer to do this.
My prayer for our sons is many things but in Ephesians 3:17-19 it says 'That Christ may dwell in your hearts being rooted and grounded in love. May be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height-To know the love of Christ which passes knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.' You can pray this for your children and personalize it by adding their name where it says 'your'. God does hear our prayers. He loves our children more than we do.
If you are not at the empty nest phase yet it is coming but just remember to keep praying and not give up.
PRAYER: Dear Lord you are good and your mercies endure forever and are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness. In Jesus name, amen!
