Hurting, Broken , Disappointed ?

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”John 8:12

Life can be hard even for those of us in Western world who have basic necessities things in life and people in your life can create issues and problems. Only God and The Holy Spirit can fix things. 

Don’t spend time trying to solve your problems using social media but use God’s word instead. God has a plan and can even use all the seemingly bad scary confusing and hurtful things to bring about a good result even though humanly it may not seem like it. 

Maybe you are dealing with death, estrangement, divorce, loss of job, friend who turned back on you or something else. Talk to God and share your heart with Him. Pray for those who have hurt your heart too. God loves them too. 

PRAYER:Lord thank you that you hear me when I pray. I pray for mean people who hurt others to find you and get saved. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Think About What You Think About

“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."Philippians 4:7

You can discipline your thought life. Decide that will not let certain thinking and worries enter your mind. 

You make the decision do you want peace of mind or do you want mind struggles and wrestling thoughts. 

The enemy wants you to get overwhelmed with stinking thinking and stuff that is untrue or never going to happen. You have to get up each morning and set your mind on things above as it says in Isaiah 26:3 and then consciously move on in your thinking. 

PRAYER: Help me get my focus off concerns things that are never going to happen and trust you to fill my mind and heart with joy. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Don’t Start A Blaze

Set a guard over my mouth, Lord;
    keep watch over the door of my lips.Psalm 141:3 NIV Bible Gateway

Have you ever set a blaze of sorts with your tongue and stuff you let just randomly without thinking come out of it? It is easy just to open your mouth without much thought of who what you say will affect and spew something out. 

Be on guard my friend. Your words have the ability to make you or break you. 

Do you ponder thoughts of what you will say to certain people and are hesitant as to whether to speak them? Be careful and prudent and good idea if any doubt to wait. 

PRAYER: I ask Father you help me be still and think before I speak and help me choose my words carefully. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Word of God Like A Seed

Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap."Galatians 6:7

Did you know you and the Bible are both seed planters or in others words putting out little tidbits that will later take root in the ‘soil of a renewed heart’. 

Every word you speak has power either negative or positive and why not let these ‘seeds’ have power to renew hope and restore. 

The Bible is full of seeds of hope and power and even more so when spoken out loud or ‘over’ a situation. Are you feeling low or dealing with a seemingly impossible issue in your life. Speak power over that and not negativity. 

PRAYER: Father help me remember my words are seeds to help spring forth growth and hope in those who hear. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Social Media-The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.Isaiah 5:20

For those people 30 and under they have only known a life with internet, social media, and a wireless life. Those of us who were in the ‘olden days’ can attest to the fact that life was much more kind and peaceful and less complicated prior to all that. 

As I sit in coffee shops writing my devotions often right on my phone I tap things on my screen with my index finger looking around I see the two thumb method used by younger people. Kind of funny. 

Social media can be good and there are many Christian things on it but you have to set limits and not let it rule you or separate you from reality and drive a wedge in relationships. Run your race to win. 

PRAYER: I need you Lord to help me have self control with electronic devices and give me ability to not dwell on social media. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Do You Hide From God?

 No one can hide from God. His eyes see everything we do. We must give an answer to God for what we have done.Hebrews 4:13 New Life Version Bible Gateway

In Genesis chapter 3 at the creation of mankind by God verses 8-10 are the part when Eve at from the tree of good and evil and her eyes were opened thus showing her nakedness so she ran from God. There was no hiding from the Almighty He knew exactly where she was and what she had done. 

Do you find yourself trying to hide from God or hiding things you do or participate in from God? You can’t hide anything from Him He is aware of everything. But our human nature and that little red devil comic figure try to tell you to go ahead as it is your right. 

The devil is real and his demons are around too trying to get believers snatched out of the kingdom and working for him instead. He is a liar and the father of lies. If someone you know has been captivated by him keep praying. God hears you. Don’t give up hope. 

PRAYER: Lord I give you thanks for your daily protection. Use me in your kingdom to help others flee evil and run to the cross. In Jesus’ name. Amen. 

Give No Place To The Devil

"Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings."1 Peter 5:8-9

Today the day after the secular world celebration of Halloween we pause to reflect on good and evil and not bowing down to the devil. Today’s verse speaks of not giving place to the devil or in other words don’t be captivated by his lures and traps in this world. 

You as a follower of Christ need to be aware that Satan is real and he likes to entrap followers of Christ with lies and schemes. You can choose to run with the devil or follow Christ no middle ground. 

This world is not a believers real home. We have the promise of Heaven. Are you able to give the reason for the hope that is in you when a stranger might ask? Show love, be gentle, and don’t dabble in the world’s idea of happiness. Run your race to win. 

PRAYER: Lord I thank you for hearing my prayers and I thank you that I know you are working. Help me show your joy in a world that is foreign to Christ. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
