Spiritual DNA/Leaving A Legacy

A good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children,
 but a sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous. Proverbs 13:22

What is more important to you? Leaving an inheritance to your children and grandchildren, which is scriptural by the way, or insuring a spiritual legacy is left behind?Both are VERY crucial. 

When you raise children, often times the 'God equation' is forgotten. Even many who don't darken the door of a church somehow make it there for infant baptism which is the tradition in many denominations and families. Although a nice family occasion and 'religious ritual' even for those who do it, it is still the parents responsibility to raise their child to love the Lord and walk with Him daily. My husband was baptized as an infant and a year ago decided he wanted a 'believer's baptism'. Now as an adult who loved the Lord it meant something and His heart truly was changed. 

Point being, whether a baby or adult baptism, don't neglect raising your child in a church where later on he or she will become hungry for the Word of God. There is a saying, "Going into church won't make you into a Christian any more than going into McDonalds will make you into a hamburger." Ponder that statement for a while. Don't be afraid to change denominations or churches if you feel lethargic and stale. Walking with Jesus is supposed to make you feel alive. Raise those little ones to be excited about Him too. 

PRAYER: Lord I want to be a Christian in my heart, in my heart. These words are in a familiar child's worship song and they ring true. Help me remember to sing songs of praise around the little ones in my life. In Jesus' name. Amen.
