Go Beyond Nice

Go Beyond Nice

Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 4:31-32

Have you ever found yourself in a difficult situation whether in a public place, at home, or on the highway where your human nature screams "get back at him" but your God nature says "be kind and go the extra mile"? I know I have. Sometimes I pass the test and other times I fail and am ashamed of myself. Letting a car in front of you who is trying to turn onto a busy road. Giving the table at Starbucks with the only outlet to another person(ouch). Picking up trash you did not toss on the ground or leave in the movie theater. Being kind when you are verbally attacked?

You can choose to let things go or you can choose to have them escalate. You can choose to put things in your life that make you peaceful or subject yourself to things such as maybe the nightly news, that get you upset. Be careful what you 'feed' yourself for there lies part of the problem to wanting to be just like the 'world'.

Christ wants us to be set apart, to be different. How can you effectively witness to anyone if you are being ugly and mean? Pretty difficult task I would think. So choose this day to start it off in God's word. You say He is first so prove it by spending time alone with Him daily.

PRAYER: Help me Lord as I seek to be peaceful and kind and a good witness for you. Help me learn to turn the other cheek even when I don't feel like it. In Jesus' name. Amen.

  1. Becky: This is so appropriate for us in today's world. I use a cane to aid my walking. I am amazed at the number of people who take the time to hold open a door for me. I always try to remember to thank them.
