And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. 1 John 3:23
....But then all of a sudden you make a comment that stereotypes a group of people of a certain race or country or people group. Whoops. As TV character Steve Erkel would jokingly say "Did I do that?" It really is no joke. We all have probably been guilty of it sometimes innocently.
Jesus said to love. Now love doesn't mean we necessarily agree with someone or what they are doing or the lifestyle they live but it means to love. PERIOD. No gossip, no crude jokes, no jokes, no ugliness, just prayer. Can you do that?
We were all made different and unique. Sometimes you may do something that rubs someone the wrong way or you know is wrong. Poking fun at handicapped people or those who look funny or the poor is not what Jesus would have you do. It is time to examine yourself and what comes out of your mouth and get on board saying only that which builds up people and not tears them down. Can you do that?
PRAYER: Father I thank you that you convict me when I have said something less than pleasing to you or something that hurts my witness as your follower. Help me TRULY love one another. In Jesus' name. Amen.
